The Hotel is a bit expensive but location was excellent only hotel near the Ganges hence stayed there but front office behavior is really horrible they need to understand that customer is the one who pays hence behavior should be good . rooms were just very small and they ensured they did not change the room even if requested .They... The Hotel is a bit expensive but location and service compensates it. Stayed there for teo nights. The staff is nice and cheering. Wifi worked well, breakfast was good and the top-floor small balcony was icing on the cake. You can have view of almost entire Ganges ghat's curve. Had a 1hr chat with the manager in evening, he made... More

The hotel itself is amazing, finely decorated with photos and drawings of indian iconic people, all good wood in the walls, painted as it was new and in an excellent location. What made me feel uncomfortable was the atritude of the staff. Everybody seemed to be upset if you asked for anything, even a bottle of cola. I mean, you... More

What a city! Been in many places in India, and now in Varanasi. This hotel is excellent located for all types of excursions. The service is good. Only thing they have to work for is breakfast. Make the breakfast restaurant clean and offer personal a la carte food! Better charge a bit more, than you will be rewarded. Rhe roof... More

Firstly, to be completely fair to this hotel this feedback is not about the standard of the accommodation or guest services, as I have not stayed there. Particularly, this is a warning story regarding the unethical practices of the hotel around their websites cancellation policy. Recently I booked, then unexpectedly had to cancel accommodation. I offered six weeks written notice... More

When You spent a Good Lump sump amount on Hotel booking, You expect good service. Don't book this hotel, It might have a great location(near Assighat) but it is not worth spending around 5K for rooms which don't have space and the poorest service I have ever received. Hotel staff are grumpy and they behave like they are doing some... More

Hi I was on a visit to the city of Lord Visveswara on 27th and 28th of May,2016. Location wise, this is not the right location for visiting Kashi Vishwanath temple. But the hotel is o.k. Staffs tell the hotel is a heritage hotel. But I found nothing heritage about the hotel, except the building. In fact all the buildings... More

Palace on Ganges is a hotel run in an heritage building near Assi Ghat, atleast this was the excuse given for super deluxe heritage rooms which cost more than Rs 4500/night, being smaller than any average size rooms. Given the space constraints in both the rooms we booked, one was still a bliss as it had a small balcony which... More

On first appearance its not the most attractive externally, but internally and location wise it is good. The rooms are names after states and cities in India, and mine was furnished with antique furniture and a wonderful bed. Mine was at the back of the hotel and had a window facing a wall. But I wasn't going to spend that... More

First, going to Varanasi is not just a tourism activity. You should know in advance where you go and why and make your study. The place is not an ordinary destination, especially for western tourists. The hotel is very close to Assi Ghat one of the edges of walking through Varanasi Ghats. Also close to main daily attraction of Aarti.... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Palace on Ganges is a new, immaculately clean hotel with 22 rooms, each named for -- and said to be decorated in the style of -- a different region of India. Our rooms were good-sized and well appointed (cable TV sets, non-alcholic mini-bar, tables and chairs). The staff is friendly and attentive. Food is vegetarian and well prepared. The big advantage is Palce on Ganges's location. It is at Asi Ghat, And while it's "on the Ganges," a small road and a large where you can get the cab easily from just out of the hotel. Views of the Ganges from the balcony -- and rooms facing the river -- are far less good than those from, among others hotels. Disadvantages: not all rooms face the river. ... more   less
