Yes, this place is walking distance to the Taj Mahal and appeared clean and acceptable. However, the rooms leave a lot to be desired. We were a small group and I believe we all had various problems with the rooms, included shower head coming off the wall completely, AC not working, no hot water. From what I saw, there were... Booked 3 rooms during Agra visit. Nice place to stay. Very near to the East gate of Taj Mahal. Noise and pollution free area. Food is okay. Non Ac Rooms are not very good but okay for short stay. Staffs are nice and helpful. Not great but good hotel for small budget.

We took two rooms for, fortunately, only one night. We would not repeat the experience. Yes it's cheap, of course. And it's close to the Taj Mahal, But you'll still have to buy a ticket a kilometre away in the morning if you stay for the "night before" so it's not actually as convenient as other places to stay. Free... More

You walk out the hotel and see the entrance to the Taj Mahal! AC room was 800 rupees- not bad pricing. Clean, great staff, bring your own shampoo. Overall excellent. I don't know what else to say. Dont overpay for some hyped up hotel that will have these same accommodations and farther then the Taj. Stay here.

I booked Hotel Sheela based on reviews. People said it wasn't bad, it just wasn't a fancy hotel. I can handle bad. It wasn't bad,it was horrific. It's a pain to get to because you have to get a taxi or whatever all the way there until a certain point where no cars are allowed past. So from there you... More

Indeed you get what you pay for! The rooms are very dirty and the food at the restaurant is really nothing special. The only plus is that you are so close the East entrance of the Taj. However if you plan on catching the sunrise while admiring the Taj Mahal, get your tickets the day before because the ticket office... More

I travel for the experience of another way of life, so I don't want to stay in US hotels or their like. The Sheela has all the advantages of being Indian but I was fine eating their meats, cream...all the things I was afraid to eat outside since plates and leaves are rinsed in river water; meat hangs black with... Location: Hotel Sheela is well-known to the locals, so it was easy to travel there from Agra Cant train station (tuktuk: Rs. 150). This hotel, however, is located in a non-vehicle zone, so the last few hundred metres have to be covered on foot. Be wary of the aggressive touts along the way! Hotel Sheela is located near the East... More
