We did not stay at the Oberoi Amarvilas, but my wife and I did dine there during our stay in Agra. The property is spectacularly beautiful, with fantastic views of the Taj Mahal. The staff are friendly and want to please. Suffice to say, the service was outstanding. And, the food was delicious! While we were dining there, one of the managers stopped by our table to make sure we were satisfied. When he learned that we were not staying there, he gave us a tour of the property. It is an amazing hotel ... and every room has a view of the Taj Mahal. If we ever go back to Agra, we will definitely stay at the Oberoi Amarvilas. Highly recommend.
Short Review: 7 star service for 5 star property Quick notes: 3 rooms, 3 Senior Citizen, 2 Adult, 2 kids / 3 days Detail Review: Snippet of Personal Experiences When you walk in , there is only a smile, namaste and respect - As if we are part of their family and inviting you to feel home. Our train was late the day of check-in. ...We didn't had anything to eat ..But no problem - one simple phone call , explained our situation to hotel staff - and they made sure restaurant provided us breakfast without ANY FUSS.. Monika / Sujata ensured every food request provided for. that's just beginning of hospitality. It was my wedding Anniversary, so I went while every one was having breakfast to see if I get at least my room upgraded... Guess What ! They upgraded all 3 rooms complimentary.. all rooms with view of Taj Mahal...all rooms next to each other...all bags (and we did had few).... were on its way...and placed as requested. No demand for ID, no immediate ask to provide credit card for additional room charges. Only thing matter is your COMFORT. That's how Nishu and everyone working that day treated us. My Tickets for Viewing Taj Mahal at night were ready and handed over to us. The tickets to view during day time were arranged as well. WheelChair was arranged for my mother and was assisted every part of the property she visited. We couldn't get SPA appointment ahead of time.. Bilal went above and beyond to make sure all of us were able to rejuvinate Requested Chef Gaurav to make my favorite ice-cream (Rose Petal Ice Cream) - and I vouch that you never ate such dessert any part of the world. Swimming pool staff were friendly, prompt and forgiving for chaos kids created. Next 3 days , every step of the way, every single individual we interacted with , were so kind to our non-stop demands What else do you want on your vacation? This is the property to visit... Everything is above Gold Standard. Staff don't accept individual tip...but you can contribute to their general fund. THANK all individual below who helped us and made our stay the most memorable ever. Every name represents separate chapter in our memory book but since I am writing review least I felt is should mentioned them all... and if you happen to see these names...remember they will go above and beyond. 1. Nishu 2. Monika 3. Parth (taking awesome pictures for us) 4. Arnav 5. Sujata 6. Mujitaba (providing one delicacy after another) 7. Ritvik 8. Snigdha 9. Asama 10. Ansumaan 11. Ishaan 12. Bilal 13. We stayed at the Oberoi Amarvilas for New Years including New Years Eve. First and foremost, given the view of the Taj Mahal from every room, this hotel really is the top choice in Agra. The proximity to the Taj Mahal allows the guests to go there by golf cart! The hotel is a classic 5 star property with a beautifully designed outdoor area/gardens around the pool. We were upgraded to a room with a balcony (thank you!) and I strongly recommend getting such a room because you will want to enjoy the view. Restaurants and service in the hotel are very good and breakfast is outstanding with a large choice of freshly prepared specialities from all regions (plus a large selection of classic breakfast fare) The chef is amazing - he showed us around the kitchen and before we left, he came by with a selection of sweets for the drive and a jar of our favourite chutney! My daughter has celiacs (needs to eat gluten free) and when we were shown to our room, a member of the service team asked us about preferences, dietary restrictions etc and we informed him of this situation. At first I was impressed at how diligently they seemed to handle this upon check in but then, once we had given this information, nothing happened. Not at the New Years dinner (no mention of it) nor were the restaurants informed. The chef - who had not been informed - spontaneously made gluten free bread for dinner and generally was so helpful - thank you again for that! New Years evening was ok but not amazing - like in most hotels, booking the evening is mandatory when staying over New Years and the set up (outdoors despite the cold) really was beautiful. For some reason though, the atmosphere was not very celebratory. First of all, people were very much dressed down due to the cold. The choice of music was very odd considering the clientele and there was no beverage service at the tables. We arrived a little late as we had a long drive to get to Agra and once we got to our table, I tried to order drinks but was asked to walk to the bar (quite a bit away) I then attempted to order champagne and was told there was none apart from the local brand due to licensing issues. The bar was stocked with all sorts of brand name liquor (vodka, whiskey, etc) but here again only local wine. Normally not a problem but considering the occasion and the hotel, I would have expected more. Right after midnight the guests were asked to leave the premises and head to their rooms. Overall, this is a very nice 5 star property and very definitely the best choice in Agra.…
This hotel is in a class of itself. Not only is the property exquisite and beautifully designed, the staff and amenities are exceptional. Everyone is smiling and wants to go out of their way to make your stay special. Managers of departments introduce themselves to you when you pass them to see if there is any other ways to help. I don't want to ruin the surprise, but when we got to our room, there was a special welcome that I have never seen anywhere else! The views are amazing. Unfortunately there was a fog on the 2 days I was there so even though of the Taj Mahal from our balcony was very fuzzy, I can imagine how beautiful it would be with clear skies., This hotel should train other 5 star hotels... they know how to do it right!
Stay here if you can afford to and want to be treated like a king. The hotel location is unique and where else can you see the Taj Mahal from your window. Enjoyed all the amenities and the marvelous grounds that transport you to the Mughal era. Worth the experience once in your lifetime. Breakfast was out of this world. Service impeccable.
The Oberoi Amarvilas is truly a luxury property with amazing, unobstructed views of the Taj Mahal. The attention to detail and care for their guests is evident from the very first moment you step foot on the property with gorgeous fire-pits and fountains lining the entrance. We were greeted by many members of the staff that walked us through a map of the property and our plan to visit the Taj Mahal the following morning. The location is ideal. They have golf carts from the hotel that take you directly to the Taj Mahal first thing in the morning to beat the rush- it was truly a five minute golf cart ride to the entrance of the Taj Mahal. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, with a stunning pool, lovely bar and large deck, and each room as its own view of the Taj Mahal. We had lunch in our room on our private balcony looking at the Taj Mahal and it was a lunch I'll never forget. All of the food was amazing and the chef could not be more hospitable or friendly. We loved our stay!…
Marvellous 🤩 Everything was beyond perfect and excellent.. Special thanks to Mr arpan Rawal for taking care of me wonderfully and ensuring everything to be comfortable and smooth.. he was always available for all requests and went above and beyond to make sure that I must have wonderful experience.. he’s best ⭐️ .. shall visit again soon thanks
It’s our 21st anniversary and we decided to splurge and understand what is this noise around Amarvilas. We have been here over 6 hours and I think it will be very difficult for me to ever think of a hotel the same way. The check in experience is very informal where it’s all done while you sit and sip tea at the lounge. Need to mention Bilal who is a great source of local information + wonderful conversationalist. We were greeted with some very personalised experiences to ensure our Anniversary is remembered forever (see photos for details) On the food part, I will update tomorrow but first day is just Top Shelf material
Great location, every room has a view of the Taj Mahal. Outstanding staff, very helpful and courteous. Very well kept property, neat, clean, tidy. 2 restaurants, both pretty good. Enjoyed some nice food at both restaurants.
One of the best hotels we’ve ever been to! Perfect since check in- the lobby is gorgeous, all decoration is superb, and the staff is so kind and helpful! The room is very spacious and comfortable, and the most special feature is that all rooms have direct view to the Taj Mahal and the hotel’s magnificent pool. Breakfast is rich and delicious, and the tradicional Indian restaurant is just perfect too - Special thanks to Ritwka, Sonam and Bishnu, who were so nice to us! I hope we can visit Agra and the Oberoi again!
