My partner Timothy and I had an exceptional stay at Leela Palace, Udaipur.
From the moment we arrived, the experience was enchanting. The hotel has its own boat, which transported us from the Doodh Talai location to the grand hotel entrance. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the staff with local music, the hotel’s signature hot chocolate, and refreshing hot towels. The hospitality set the tone for a memorable stay.
A special thanks to Afisa, who ensured our room was prepared ahead of the standard check-in time and provided a thorough overview of the hotel’s services and facilities. This thoughtful gesture made us feel truly valued as guests.
The food and beverage offerings at the hotel were outstanding. Our butler, Akshaj, provided exceptional care throughout our stay. He went above and beyond to accommodate all our requests, including procuring medicine when we needed it. Akshaj also gave us an excellent tour of the property and even arranged a visit to the neighboring Oberoi property for high tea, which was a delightful experience.
We were also impressed by the salon services, where Kuldeep delivered a world-class haircut, showcasing the high standards of service at the Leela Palace. Additionally, the hotel’s spa was phenomenal, and we highly recommend it to anyone visiting.

However, we would like to bring a few points to the hotel’s attention for improvement: The hot water in the hotel was lukewarm throughout our stay, which affected our comfort. Simply the BEST! Everything exquisite, from the rooms, service, food, location and guest treatment.
The rooms were a real treat - everything gleaming, spotless and proper, with lovely little extras that made us feel special. As for the food - honestly, the chef deserves a medal! Every single dish was a winner.
The service was absolutely spot-on - nothing was ever too much trouble, and everyone had this wonderful way of appearing just when you needed them, without being over the top. Real five-star quality, but with such a warm, genuine touch. You could tell they actually cared about making our stay special.
I'm usually quite picky when I write reviews (just ask my family!), but the Leela, Udaipur, left me stumped for complaints. Our recent stay at Leela Palace Udaipur was nothing short of magical. We were a family of 4 including my wife, our 2-year-old daughter and our 3-month-old daughter celebrating my wife’s birthday. The moment we arrived, the hotel made us feel incredibly special. The welcome was warm and grand, with flower petals showered upon us, setting the tone for what would be an unforgettable experience. Afifa ensured that our check-in process was smooth and effortless, making us feel right at home. Throughout our stay, the housekeeping team, led by trainee Kaif, kept our room immaculate, which was especially appreciated with two young children in tow. Our 2-year-old daughter enjoyed every meal, thanks to the care and attention of Chef Deepak Kumar. He went above and beyond, especially during our lunch at the hotel restaurant and dinner at Sheesh Mahal, where he treated us to the best of local Rajasthani cuisine, customized completely off the menu . It was undoubtedly the highlight of our dining experience during our stay. The restaurant team deserves a special mention. Shamsh, who led the restaurant, was exceptionally helpful, efficient, and knowledgeable—a true asset to the establishment. Anil provided outstanding service, ensuring that our breakfast, lunch & dinner were comfortable and enjoyable. A heartfelt thanks to Mr. Amit Basu, the head of F&B, who was generous enough to give us with a packed meal for our journey after checkout, considering that we were traveling with young kids—a thoughtful gesture that we appreciated. Arriving by boat, with a fan fare of music and rose petals, I felt quite special (which I find embarrassing) but it was a lovely welcome. The lake view room with balcony, was not a balcony on which one could sit, as it is tiny. But with a clear pigeon problem, it made no odds.
The room was comfortable, albeit slightly claustrophobic because of the use of so much dark wood.
On my first day, I found the pool far too warm and lots of dead tiny flies floating, and by day 2 and 3, the pool was cooler and much cleaner. The pool is a good size.
The hotel’s design is rather too bling for me ie very ornate, but what stood out, was the staff could not have been more helpful or friendly. What a great team of people.
Breakfast buffet was excellent and the two meals I had in the main restaurant were very good, especially the lamb shank.

Our stay at the Leela was exceptional in every way. This was a special trip for 2 families vacationing together after a long time with cousins getting a chance to bond in a beautiful peaceful and fun place. The concierge reached out to us the day before arrival to confirm our flight times. The boat ride to the hotel was incredible with views for the city palace, the lake palace and the Leela property. We were then greeted by traditional rajasthani musicians, showered with rose petals and given my favorite sweet lime juice beverage to sip on while our personal concierge checked us in. Our room was well appointed with a large king bed and we requested and extra bed for my 11 year old. The room was absolutely beautiful and every detail in the decor and furniture paid tribute to art and history of rajasthan. My children enjoyed the activities at the hotel including the bangle making, pottery and cupcake making. It helped them develop a respect and appreciation for the artists and musicians at the hotel. The pool was a lot of fun with plenty of space / cabanas towels and the staff inflated floats for the kids to play. The dining room food was excellent especially the breakfast buffet. We got to sample many different cuisines in one setting . There was a live paratha and chole bhatura station which made rhetorical experience extra special. We really enjoyed the chat station at night too. I would say that the best feature of this hotel is their absolutely warm and attentive staff who treated us as thought we were family and ensured we were truly cared for at all times. They brought us food that “we had to try” and just really wanted us to have a great time. We have never been treated as warmly by staff anywhere and will be back just because of this. The chef whipped us up a special batch of pancakes and desserts for my son who is allergic to nuts. Our concierge Neha arranged for cake and balloons in our nieces room her birthday. We really enjoyed our staff and highly recommended this property for a relaxing and fun family trip.

It brings me great joy to write this review of our magnificent stay at the Leela Palace, Udaipur. We occupied the palace for 5 nights for a wedding of a family member. From arrival at UDR airport, we knew we were in good hands. A new, clean BMW 5 Series whisked us away immediately, and once we arrived at the Leela jetty, our family and all our baggage was seamlessly transferred to a boat on the stunning journey over the lake to the palace. Upon arrival, you enter another world. We were warmly greeted and treated like royalty from the moment we stepped in.
I could go on and on about how wonderful the Leela is but that would require a novel. The property is incredible, food beyond delicious, spa rejuvenating, pool relaxing, rooms delightful but the most special part of the Leela is the staff.
The first shoutout goes to the team of butlers taking care of our family: Deepak, Reshab and Sonal. These three amazing people took care of us from the moment we arrived at the Leela. I cannot thank them enough, they were the most memorable and impressive components of our trip, and it would not have been the same without them. They are so intelligent and would constantly think many steps ahead to anticipate and fulfill our desires. They were constantly smiling, a calming presence, and would never hesitate to offer assistance or show anything but a desire to help at any requests. They are truly incredible people. The future is so bright for them and I cannot wait to see what they accomplish. I have never encountered anyone better than these three individuals in all my trips across the world or at any hotel or restaurant. Upgrading to the Royal or Maharaja suite is worth it just to be in the care of them. They will transform your experience! I miss them dearly already!
The second shoutout goes to Chef Rupak and his team, who created some of the most memorable meals I have ever eaten and always went above and beyond for any special requests whether they be big or small. A particularly special night was when Chef Rupak himself arranged the most marvelous Rajasthani meal in our suite - what a treat! It was a dinner booked by my relative in Sheesh mahal on occasion of my anniversary. Case 1 We ordered food a starter and from main course we order their signature dish, ideally they should have informed us while taking order that this dish is tasteless( literally no taste) and you should order something with it. There was no recommendation from staff.
We received our food and after tasting it I called one of the staff member to help us understand if their is anything wrong with the dish bcz it was tasteless. Response from staff - you should have ordered something with this dish, sir!!

I requested for mocktail menu wherein I was informed that we can customise your drink/shake. Basis that I ordered a chocolate shake with a request - please make it at room temperature because I need it for my kid. If that was not possible, they should have told me.
They brought a shake with ice cream in it. As per them shake can’t be made without ice cream.
Case 3 -
My relative placed a request for a cake on occasion of my anniversary. It was not fulfilled. My relative called up to check for a cake after I left the property, as per staff I was in hurry due to which they didn’t do cake cutting. Just for reference- even after billing, I was there with my wife and kid for next 15 minutes for clicking photos.
Case 4
For payments, everybody prefers xyz applications to make payments. I asked staff if I can use easydiner application to make payment. However I was denied. I was getting 20% discount on my bill.
It is not about me saving money, but I was told that your table bill is not exceeding, that’s why you can’t use it. For everyone reference- there is no such condition by these applications.
Overall, we didn’t get good service just because our table bill amount was not high as expected by them. I can’t recommend anyone to plan surprise because they will not fullfill. Better be careful.
