This park is quaint, clean, reasonably priced and relaxing. The owners are invested in the park and it shows. The park stays very full so it is important to reserve early. It will be our first choice for future visits.
Just outside of the town and ski resort, Monte Verde is an eclectic find. Watch closely as your GPS brings you in or you will miss the first entrance on the west side of the road. Use the second one! Occupancy is high all summer with long-term campers escaping the heat of Texas, AZ, Utah, so book in advance. Sites are close together, some utilities are a stretch from the most level spot on the site, but they all work well. I would call the shade good, but with the cool temperature of the valley, no worries. There are tent spaces available, a couple of cabins, pull-throughs in the back and a recreation area for horseshoes and the pups. The young owners are doing a great job of upgrading the park. The dog "walk" is sort of a natural path that you can share with the prairie dogs and tall weeds. Very nice and modern bathhouse, but take your quarters for your shower, it's pay as you wash!…
We decided to visit Angel Fire because we wanted to go to the downhill mountain biking park and see the Angel Fire balloon festival. Fortunately, we were able to work both into our week in Angel Fire. I found the Monte Verde RV Park online and after reading reviews, decided this was the place to stay. We were fortunate to be able to book an entire week as they were filling up due to the balloon fest. I screwed up a couple online reservations, but Joe and Melody quickly fixed the situation and we were booked. As we got close to arrival, the owners were very good about notifying us about road closures due to recent fires that would impact our travels. The fires didn't affect our stay, but we had to re-route. Without the updates, we would have likely taken closed routes. At the campground, Joe and Melody were very attentive to everyone. They live onsite and so are very rarely "off-duty". They have worked hard to make this a very welcoming, comfortable place to stay. I know they hate them, but we enjoyed watching all the prairie dogs run around the place! We would definitely return if we go back to Angel Fire. There's another MUCH more expensive place in town, but I bet everyone there is snobby and drinks tea with their pinkies out! Go stay with Joe and Melody and have a relaxing, enjoyable stay!!…
I camped here for Memorial Day and enjoyed the location. The owners are amazing people who are improving the place day by day. There is only one bathroom stall and shower per gender so a major improvement would be to expand the size of the restroom. Other than that, it's a nice place to camp close to town.
Enjoying my stay at Monte Verde. Owners very friendly, helpful w/ recommendations for the area. Bathrooms are small (only one toilet, shower), but worked for me. They have a laundry room and propane sales. Fair price for being so close to Angel Fire resort. Competitor RV sites nearby cost much more. This campground has been quiet, relaxing, and scenic. Plenty of area for running, biking, hiking. Small grocery store (Family Dollar) with essentials, post office, couple of hardware stores, barber, vet restaurants, gas also nearby. Make sure you visit the Angel Fire's well-appointed, comfortable library where they also have wifi, nice classical music, friendly staff, used book sale, newspapers, coffee - once of the nicest little libraries I've visiting. Resort is very close and also has free wifi, cafe and friendly staff. Mountain bikers summer dream. Lots of musical festivals, hot air balloon fest planned throughout the summer. Visit Vietnam Veternans Memorial nearby while here. Will visit again when in the area.…
