Inside the Walled City of Jodhpur and under the imposing stare of Mehrangarh Fort, sits RAAS. The site was formerly the home of the aristocratic Thakur family, and the original 18th-century haveli has been carefully renovated to produce the four old buildings of the hotel. The three new buildings are modern and contemporary in their use of space and light, and yet are grounded in tradition. Jodhpur's red sandstone unites the new with the old, with modern designs in its latticing and carving adding a fresh dimension to the region's age-old stone carving industry. This seamless harmony between the old and the new, the modern and the traditional, extends to all aspects of RAAS. Almost all of the rooms have magnificent views of Mehrangarh Fort from both the private terraces and from the cast iron bathtubs, and those that don’t have their own private gardens and views over the old haveli and landscaped gardens of RAAS. The rooms are furnished with state of the art amenities: all rooms are air-conditioned with the latest eco friendly machines, and have overhead fans, hairdryers, safes, central heating, wi-fi, TV, telephones and en suite bathrooms. There are rooms with easy access for the handicapped and non-smoking rooms. RAAS boasts two fine dining restaurants, which offer both Indian and International cuisine: Darikhana is a beautiful terraced restaurant and the Baradari Café is inside the old pavilion and offers a relaxing location near the pool. There is also a luxury spa that offers a full range of treatments and a boutique shop. RAAS is the ideal place to soak up the rich local heritage of Jodhpur while at the same time indulging in opulent luxury and comfort. As soon as you drive through the old wooden gates in RAAS’s very own blue tuk-tuk, the majesty of Mehrangarh Fort will be tempered by your sense of relaxation.

Gorgeous boutique hotel walking distance to the old city, fort and market. A peaceful haven after the hustle and bustle of Jodhpur markets. The hotel and staff are first class and help overlook the noise from the mosque next door which is a little off putting, not so much the call to prayer in the early morning but the hour long sermon at night broadcast through loud speakers during dinner time. The sooner religious establishments are banned from using loud speakers the better. The fort view room was sensational, everything for a relaxing stay was provided. The hotel grounds and pool were lovely and the dining areas, bar and food are what make this a top hotel. Our stay was only 2 days and would have happily stayed longer. There are plenty of places to eat close by but there is really no need to leave the hotel as the food selection is plentiful.

We stayed here for 2 nights, whilst travelling around Rajasthan. The hotel is situated in Jodhpur old city close to the Merangarh Fort, which is a 5-10min walk away. It is a little haven in amongst the noisy chaos outside! The hotel is located in an old palace and like the other Raas property in Udaipur we stayed in while we were in Rajasthan, it has been renovated to a high standard. The highlights of our stay included the service, which was five star and the food, which we thought was the best we had while we were in Rajasthan. The hotel’s two restaurants and roof-top bar have good views of the fort, so it really is a magical place in which to have dinner. Amenities wise, the hotel has a spa and a good pool. There is no gym. We had a spa treatment while we were there. It wasn’t cheap, but it was very good and just what needed after a long day of sightseeing! Thank you to the Raas team in Jodhpur for looking after us so well and making our stay such a memorable one. We look forward to staying with you again on our next visit to Rajasthan.

Came here for lunch, to shop at Gem Palace, and to check out the hotel. Wow, did they bounce me out of there fast. I wasn't dressed like a backpacker (not that that would excuse the treatment I received.) It was literally like being kicked out of a club! Jodhpur is a beautiful place, and part of that beauty is the noise and chaos of an Indian city. RAAS and the development surrounding it simply add a zero onto every price and an attitude onto every interaction. It's too bad, because I believe the intent is good - the execution is just lacking.

Great food, great service and a wonderful setting. Ruined by aggressive Muslim loudspeakers broadcasting propaganda at such a volume we could not hear each other. The tourist authority and police have to put a stop to this.

Stayed here with my mum earlier in the week for two nights an absolutely loved it. That entrance as you walk towards the breakfast restaurant is ‘wow’ and the whole place is magnificent. The staff are well trained and lovely and we loved the no tipping policy until the end of the stay. The rooms are lovely and our view of the fort was the best! It really made our stay in Johdpur.
