#3 of 128 hotels in Jodhpur
Travelers' Choice 2019 Winner
Certificate of Excellence
Inside the Walled City of Jodhpur and under the imposing stare of Mehrangarh Fort, sits RAAS. The site was formerly the home of the aristocratic Thakur family, and the original 18th-century haveli has been carefully renovated to produce the four old buildings of the hotel. The three new buildings are modern and contemporary in their use of space and light, and yet are grounded in tradition. Jodhpur's red sandstone unites the new with the old, with modern designs in its latticing and carving adding a fresh dimension to the region's age-old stone carving industry. This seamless harmony between the old and the new, the modern and the traditional, extends to all aspects of RAAS. Almost all of the rooms have magnificent views of Mehrangarh Fort from both the private terraces and from the cast iron bathtubs, and those that don’t have their own private gardens and views over the old haveli and landscaped gardens of RAAS. The rooms are furnished with state of the art amenities: all rooms are air-conditioned with the latest eco friendly machines, and have overhead fans, hairdryers, safes, central heating, wi-fi, TV, telephones and en suite bathrooms. There are rooms with easy access for the handicapped and non-smoking rooms. RAAS boasts two fine dining restaurants, which offer both Indian and International cuisine: Darikhana is a beautiful terraced restaurant and the Baradari Café is inside the old pavilion and offers a relaxing location near the pool. There is also a luxury spa that offers a full range of treatments and a boutique shop. RAAS is the ideal place to soak up the rich local heritage of Jodhpur while at the same time indulging in opulent luxury and comfort. As soon as you drive through the old wooden gates in RAAS’s very own blue tuk-tuk, the majesty of Mehrangarh Fort will be tempered by your sense of relaxation.

Such a special hotel with incredible staff. Everything has been thought of and the attention to detail is exceptional. Excellent value for money also. The restaurants are fantastic and some wonderful food. All the waiters have perfect knowledge of the menu and are very quick to amend or cater for any food requirements. The pool is lovely also. Great location with a good walk upto the fort or lovely wandering nearby streets.House keeping great too

We had a fort view room, which I was very excited about for the night views of the fort, which I was told is lit until 9 pm every day. We arrived at the hotel at 8:30, and got into the room at 8:40. The fort was still lit and beautiful from our room. I took out my camera for the long exposure shot and looked up and saw...blackness. Because the lights had gone off within those few minutes, and it was only 8:45 pm. Since we were only staying in Jodhpur one night, I never got that photo. Well, the dinner at the hotel cheered me up quite a bit from that disappointment. It was incredibly delicious, and the wine selection was robust, with choices from all over the world. They had Indian and western dishes but the Indian food was just phenomenal. The only downside was that it was pricey, more than an average meal in NYC (which is not cheap either), and so incredibly expensive for India, and you can definitely find better value elsewhere. Perhaps not coincidentally, this was the hotel with the largest percentage of white guests of the half dozen places we stayed in Rajasthan, ranging from large 5* international chains to havelis catering to locals. Breakfast the next morning (included with the room) was filling and delightful, with lots of breads and cheeses, as well as Indian dishes. This hotel is also located RIGHT next to the fort, and we were able to walk there in 10 minutes. But another gem, is the stepwell next door (which can also be accessed from inside the hotel grounds via an inconspicuous door along a wall, if you ask a staff member). Because RAAS is responsible for the stepwell, it was incredibly clean--in fact, the cleanest of the dozen or so stepwells I visited in Rajasthan. Stepwells are so gorgeous and this was definitely a can't miss.

This is a really cool place buried right in the historical part of town. The view of the Fort from our room was a highlight as well as the renovated historical site with a cafe owned by the hotel. Our room was comfortable and had style. The dinner we enjoyed in the restaurant is one we will never forget, the culinary greatness of the food !!!! I also had a private yoga session that was perfectly challenging.

Modern fit out, beautiful restaurant & if requested, a view of the Mehrangarh Fort which is worth a visit. The hotel is a stones throw from the Clock -tower situated in the centre of the market which is typically crazy all day. Around the market is a maze of small streets barely wide enough for pedestrians, vehicles, bikes - whichever comes first. Be careful when entering the street from the hotel as you step out into bedlam with the very fast traffic coming from everywhere.
