The property is well located right in the heart of jaisalmer. Dont go by the pics on the net or you will be dissappointed. The maintainance and housekeeping is not upto the mark . The view from the rooftop of the fort is excellent tough.

The room was very dirty, old, the shower didn't work, it seems they desperately need a renovation. It only looks nice in the outside but then you see the reality. I will not recommended at all staying here! Horrible experience.

This was a nightmare for us. The rooms were dirty , no tv. Seemed like we are the only people who stay. The restaurant utensils had a layer of Jaisalmer ki mitti which I doubt has not been cleaned since ages. You will have a shock looking at the menu with a plate of chicken biryani @ 800 Rs. Come... The property is so beautiful but totally unkempt and mismanaged. It was almost as though it was painful for them to have guests. The staff was skeletal and could not do much. It looked like they were temporary and hired only for the season time. There was no proper management. The cleanliness levels were pathetic. It was dusty and dirty.... More

New year celebrations which was charged at round Rs.2650 was not even worth the money in... More

The worst experience I've ever had during a trip! This 'so called' heritage hotel has filthy and stinking rooms. The rooms are coming apart with cracks in many places. While some washrooms have plumbing issues other do not have basic amenities such as telephone. No heaters provided during harsh winters also. And every question asked the answer given was 'its... When you see this hotel, it seems not less than a palace but as you enter and site the reception you realise that you have been fooled by outer looks. This is vast heritage property but has been completely wasted by not maintaining the same. The whole place is dusty, rooms are big but dark and somehow gives you unclean... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Narayan Niwas Palace, the only classified heritage hotel in the heart of the golden city Jaisalmer, stands tall as the "Flagship" of the hospitality industry. This nineteenth century ancestral property was restored and converted into a hotel in 1982. It's golden sandstone structures and intricate carvings are a tribute to the talent of the master craftsmen of the bygone era.A royal welcome awaits you on arrival, to be escorted to one of our 50 air conditioned rooms each bearing testimony to the ethnic grandeur and beauty of Rajasthan. Our restaurants and bars serve in style Indian, Chinese, Continental and Rajasthani cuisine coupled with the choicest wines, spirits and cocktails. As the sun rises from and sets into the desert with the "Golden Fort" of Jaisalmer in the background, our roof top restaurant & bar offer the most spectacular sight of the Thar desert. Our all weather indoor swimming pool or bawri is one of it's kind. A gymnasium and sauna add to the charm. We pioneered the desert safaris way back in the seventies with the eleven-day camel safari from Bikaner to Jaisalmer. Our tailor made excursions with camel & jeep safaris as well as camps are still an exotic desert adventure. At “twilight" the fort lights up, adding to your soaring spirits to make it all the more awesome. Our master artistes, widely known for their excellence in dance and local folk music, will make you endorse our claim that it is the best that Jaisalmer has to offer. ... more   less
