The Sarai at Toria is a beautiful riverside retreat close to the World Heritage site of Khajuraho and to the Panna Tiger Reserve. The six independent cottages are created in village style mud and thatch but have spacious contemporary interiors. The dining/sitting area is an open structure commanding serene and stunning views over the Ken river, to the park's hills beyond.

What a wonderful accommodation! We had a three night stay here and it is a little slice of heaven. We had plenty of time to visit Panna and look for wildlife, take a bird watching boat ride on the Ken river and have a day for just relaxing. The food is excellent with many ingredients coming from their own garden. A great variety and everything delicious. We had lunch in the garden and dinner under the stars. The service is thoughtful and always at the ready to offer assistance, a drink etc. There are just six small stand alone cottages so you don’t have to worry about a crush of other guests. The interiors are spacious and have everything you need. They also have a personal laundry service that is very affordable. We had an extra day here for resting and relaxing and the grounds are so beautiful and it is so peaceful it was just the perfect choice.

We were looking forward to this part of our 3 week holiday the most as it was something completely different. We were not disappointed. The cottages are beautifully designed and totally eco-friendly. The food is traditional Indian home cooking served with excellent service. We enjoyed a boat ride, safari and walk to the village, where we met some delightful people. We really appreciated the opportunities Joanna and Raghu are giving to the people of the local community. Cannot recommend highly enough!

Excellent location of the lodge, which is very close to Panna Park. The cottages are spacious and clean. The beds are very comfortable. Exceptionnal hospitality of the owners Joanna and Raghu, who are both fond of wildlife conservation, having a huge knowledge of the wildlife. Indeed, Joanna is a wildlife photographer, who has worked for National Geographics. Raghu is a famous scientist who has participated in tigers reintroduction in Panna park, being still implicated in tiger conservation and writing books on tigers. The staff is very friendly and professional. The food is excellent; the menus are created by Raghu and Joanna who are also perfect cooks. The dinners are very friendly, as we eat all together with Joanna and Raghu, who talk to us about wildlife. Excellent level of knowledge of the naturalist guide Jasper, allowing us to see many animals, especially tigers, leopards and stripped hyenas and a lot of birds during day and night game drives You can also do morning and afternoon boat trips on the river Ken near the lodge I’ll come back for a longer stay.

located on a beautiful spot close to the Ken River this small lodge is an excellent base to explore Panna Tiger Reserve and to visit the Khajuraho temples. The cottages are large and very comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food is outstanding. The owners, Joanna and Raghu, are exceptional hosts and very passionate about conservation and wildlife. Sightings in Panna exceeded my expectations with 4 tigers, 8 leopards, jungle cat, striped hyena, chinkara etc

We stayed at Sarai at Toria for three nights and loved it. Khajuraho and its temples are nearby, but the resort itself is a sanctuary of peace and quiet, with nature all around. Our bungalow room in its jungle setting was large and comfortable, with a huge bathroom and all very clean. The staff were very helpful and professional. Our boat ride on the Ken river at first light was a highlight, with great birdlife. Breakfasts and dinner were all good, with a lemon souffle for dessert one of the highlights. A final touch after dinner was to find hot water bottles in your bed, very welcome on the cool February nights. Raghu's achievements in tiger conservation are an inspiration. We didn't chase tigers on this occasion, but Raghu instead organised an extra bird outing which was very much appreciated.
