The host's are wonderful, so nice and friendly woner. The room's has everything you need and for very good price.we stayed longer than we thought, mostly because we loved the guesthouse and the hosts.we have been travelling in india for almost 2 months and we think On the way is the best Guesthouse the rooms are clean and decorated tastefully with Vinod's work's... it is located in a quiet place in middle of cliff varkala The Garden is so beautiful and green . And only 2 minutes walking distance from the cliff.. I truely recommend it..
Def.the best place in varkala. Wonderful people there, beautiful room and mali is an amazing woman.(including her cat(s)). I missed nothing and if i come back to varkala that will be the one and only place! The room was clean, colorful and inside it smells like lilac and heaven. thank you very much!
Mari is a bubbly, warm person. Her small guesthouse is 40m from the beach and provides the perfect base to explore Varkala life. The rooms are creatively decorated with mandalas and in the social space in the courtyard always has someone drawing, making bracelets or painting. Mari is a keen artist so make sure you ask to see her work. Rooms of varied prices from only 200 Rupees. Bargain for the fun had here.
We had such a wonderful, magical, delightful time with Mari at 'On The Way'. It felt like home and we could have stayed longer. My boyfriend and I stayed in the cheaper downstairs room (there are 5 rooms in total) and we were spoilt by mandala drawings and creativity everywhere. If you want somewhere beautiful and quirky to to stay in Varkala then On The away is the place. Our room was a spacious double with large bathroom. The rooms are clean and the slightly more expensive rooms have balconies. There is a beautiful shared area with tables and comfy chairs and there is plenty of space to hang your washing. The wifi is strong and location perfect for the beach and restaurants. I would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting a home from home. You will LOVE it. Also check out Darjeeling cafe whilst here. Mari's husband is the owner and the food here is so so tasty with a stunning sea view and again homely feel.…
So special, felt like a magical beautiful home in such a beautiful place. Dream of coming back everyday!!! Thank u for all your advice and beautiful words, you really helped us out and gave us great ideas about India. The rooms are beautifully decorated and comfy, and nicely hidden from the very front of the beach but still close :)
Me and my girlfriend stayed at on the way for 10 weeks I could not recommend this place highly enough. The home stay has a fantastic atmosphere it is clean and comfortable all this is complemented by the wonderful decor and excellent hosts Mari and Vinod whom went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. The only down side is its hard to leave such a lovely place !
We were searching for hotel and we found home..thanks for everything to great owners Mary a Visnod and cheers from Czech republic:)If you go to Varkala, this is the best option where to stay, we were in two much more expensive hotels in Varakala beach and On the way was best! Best rooms and best food and great people.
I stayed for 10 days in Varkala, the cafe was right across from my guesthouse. Ritually, every morning I stopped by for a coffee and a delicious breakfast. By day two Vinod remembered my order and always presented himself with the brightest, warmest smile! Hopefully I make it back someday.
We stayed one week in Varkala and kept coming back to On The Way over and over again. Owners Vinod and Mari are amazing and the friendliest people in Varkala. Their cafe near Tibetan market offers great breakfasts and coffee and the cozy atmosphere On The Way has, you wont find anywhere else in Varkala. This place makes you to want to come back in Varkala definately!
I loved staying here -- even though I showed up wayyy off season, the owners heard I was coming from a friend of a friend (when i asked directions! hah) and ran over to help me! The owners, Mari and Vinod, are charming and effusive -- we hung out and even had dinner on Vinod's birthday out! The rooms are gorgeously decorated, totally of Mari's 'jungalow [jungle + bungalow]' style, and it feels like a place you want to believe in. As soon as I said there were some ants in my room the owners leaped to help me and spray it down! I love it and would definitely recommend a stay there! My only, only concern was that it's a little removed from the street, so for better, its peaceful, but also coming home late was a little concerning as a single woman.
