To truly relax and find peace, there is likely no better place in the world than the exquisitely beautiful Coconut Bay Beach Resort. The atmosphere, the rooms, the location, all are just perfect. It was a joy to stay there.
I had visited this property a couple of years back when robust construction activity was happening at the beach. A deep water port was being developed. The beach was all messed up and I believe, it was to change forever and irrevocably. So, calling it a beachside property would now be a misnomer. The property itself was in good shape, the rooms and amenities were conducive and the services were satisfactory. But owing to the upcoming port, this area is more suitable for logistical business than hospitality. It's a definite No-No if you are on a leisure trip.
l have recently returned from Kovalam, some 25 minuets from coconut bay, and was advised that the area is being developed for a deep water port, and nothing now exists of the bay as it was. l must add that due to this l did not make a visit, so its only something that l was told, but l do know that a deep water port in the area is under way. maybe a call to the hotel first would get more information, it was such a beautiful bay.
My daughters and I stayed here for 7 days over Christmas and can't rate it highly enough. The staff in the hotel and the ayervedic centre were brilliant and absolutely nothing was too much trouble for them. It was my third stay but the first for my daughters who can't wait to return. There was some work going on at the harbour but had very little impact on our peace and tranquility. The best way to spend Christmas that I can think of
We stayed very recently in Coconut Bay and were shocked to see that there is no natural clean beach any more in front of the hotel but a new road got built while we stayed. The whole purpose to stay there was the beach but that was gone!! We were not informed about the start of a big port project here when we booked and no doubt we really feel cheated now. Everybody should know that the nice beach photos in their website are not as it is now and will never be. But the hotel is still running as there would be no port coming up, i looked to us that the owner wants to take as much as possible profit and does not care that we as guests spoil our holidays. However, the food was good and we walked everyday to another beach which was not yet affected by the construction work.
