Up in the Western Ghats. What an amazing place! Stunning views across the mountains and tiger reserve from the dining room. Met by Simon the proprietor who joined us for lunch. Very interesting and good introduction. Our 'room'. Was actually an authentic Kerala cottage rebuilt here. Beautiful, with open air bathroom and verandah overlooking the view again. Later taken for...

Had the luxury of having the retreat entirely to ourselves for the majority of our stay, leaving just before a big group was to arrive. Intimate, comfortable, idyllic. Rooms were traditional, with open air but private bathroom, but all conveniences supplied including very comfortable bed and optional mosquito net. Good pool. Meals were extremely fine Keralese cooking, with cooking demo...

We travelled as a family from the backwaters into the hills. We thought long and hard as to where to stay and we ended up making the mistake of splitting our time between The Periyar Tiger reserve and Paradisa. Periyar is overcrowded and over-developed. Paradisa is in a much better location and less far to travel when coming from the...

we stayed here just over a week ago for two nights and had a great time . they gave us a fantastic little house with a fire pit which they lit for us at night - we sat there listening to the jungle noises and loved it . Some of the meals we had there were the best we had...

The hotel is located in the hills in Idukki in a beautiful, lush setting. There are spice and tea plantations all around. The food - all fresh and organic local produce - is excellent. The villas are fine. Our only reservation is that, once you have had dinner (usually quite early) there isn't really anywhere one can sit and relax...

The winding roads and lush greenery that lead you to Paradisa are only a precursor to the retreat that awaits you. We had the pleasure of staying at Paradisa for only one night, but in that amount of time had the opportunity to experience the warmth and hospitality of the owner, Simon, and his staff. The staff are happy to...

An amazing spot developed and maintained by tea planter, ex-architect, with much knowledge of the area. Perhaps the best food we had in Southern India – fascinating rooms, generally spacious, built from old houses transported here and renovated. Creaky old doors. No A/C, but not really needed given altitude and breezes high in mountains. A bit far from anything, but...

Getting to our cottage necessitated going down (up to return) 91 steps. The cottage has no fan, AC, or screens; getting into the bathroom required climbing over an 18" door sill. The bathroom is open to the sky, which was ointeresting until a bird flew in and around before finding her way out. I brushed a 4" twig from the...

We journeyed up and up, round and round and then we arrived at Paradisa Plantation Retreat......Heaven?? Simon the owner welcomed us in and what a warm welcome it was. Our room overlooked the forest where the forest people were doing some controlled burning, luckily the wind was blowing the other way or it would not have been pleasant. Our room...

Thank you for sharing your experience on tripadvisor. We are happy that you enjoyed your stay in spite of the slight inconveniences you have mentioned. Taking your observation into account, we now offer a limited a la carte menu. The reason we have a fixed / restricted menu is that being in a remote area, the menu depends on the...
