Shalimar spice garden was a little haven. Up a windy and bumpy road, one isn't quite sure what to expect but walking over the little footbridge into a cool foyer with delightful staff relives you of any concerns. The individual villas are beautifully decorated. A short ride from Periyar this was an ideal place from which to explore the park...

Set amid tall trees and thick vegetation each accommodation is carefully located, peaceful and impeccably maintained. It is a spice garden, so time to learn about the spices you sprinkle and mingle with your food is absolutely worthwhile. The evenings are quiet with only moves from nature, and the mornings are accompanied by distant singing and bird calls. Dawn breaks...

A lovely small hotel on the outskirts of the nature reserve that offers an excellent treatment centre, outstanding evening buffets and very quaint accommodation. The staff are very attentive and friendly and if one wants to get any from the hustle and bustle of the local villages this is certainly the place to stay. Not a lot to do at...

This is not a place to stay if you have any form of disability as the hotel is built on the side of a hill and there are many many steep steps. This was our second hotel in Kerala and it really reached the benchmark! Individual bungalows in glorious grounds that were previously cardamom plantations. Quiet, serene, blissful. Highlights for us were the bird life and calls that came around dusk. Never heard anything like it - absolutely amazing! Infinity pool - warm and welcoming and lazy afternoon hammocks - slept for...

My wife and I loved this place as the setting is so peaceful. The room is very spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The restaurant staff were amazing. Can't speak highly enough about them. Their food recommendations were spot on and the Masala Dosa for breakfast was delicious. Would definitely return.
