Cyriac was a lovely host who made us feel welcomed from the moment we arrived. He also gave us a personal tour of his own spice plantation sharing his knowledge about the array of plants on his property and effortlessly led us through the plantation.
Thekkady is well known around the world for its fresh spices - it was great to see spices in their natural home and comparing the freshness to the packet spices we would normally see in supermarkets.
You feel like you are staying in a hotel at this home stay with the rooms well maintained, clean, and comfortable with panoramic views of Cyriac's spice plantation.
The home stay cooking is delicious and the staff incredibly warm and generous.
I would stay here again.

*We booked our accommodation and private diver through Reverence Tours (reverencetours@gmail.com), who custom designed our South India itinerary to meet our travel needs and budget. They have long-standing relationships with local home stays like Pepper County. We couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Rooms spacious well equipped tea/coffee making equipment hairdryer nice toiletries, we recommend the upstairs rooms with balcony surrounded by cardamon, pepper and lemongrass. Our host took us for a tour round his lovely gardens of which has a good selection of fruits. Windows and doors were mesh covered so you could leave open all night and be woken by the birds at 6am if you wish. not far from busy little town though its a steep walk back but worth it. Very pleasant and friendly guy who cooked our breakfast and dinner made wonderful soup. This was booked by our tour operator Citrus.

Cyriac greets you as you arrive and is very attentive. It is nice and quiet there so you can relax and listen to the birds. He carries out tours of his plantation which has everything to see that you will pay for a spice tour elsewhere. Breakfast has fruit recently gathered from his garden, particularly good was the passion fruit juice we had one morning. We ate an evening meal there as well which was 3 courses and very good.

Great quiet location on the edge of Kumily with easy access to the Periyar Tiger Reserve, where we spent an enjoyable early morning walk with one of the rangers.
The bedroom block is set overlooking the owner's plantation, where it is easy to relax watching the birds.
The room was very spacious and comfortable with its own balcony, as was the bathroom.
Mr Cyriac was a very accommodating host, who proudly gave us a personal tour of his plantation. So much grown on his plantation and we learnt so much.
The home cooked food is a banquet of lovely local cuisine.
The martial arts show nearby is worth a visit.

This place definitely exceeded all expectations. The stay was so homely and warm with the latest amenities. The verandah and the vegetation behind the rooms gives you the most nostlagic experience of the sweet Indian winter. The complimentary breakfast included freshly made pineapple juice and was made to order with perfection. The owner considered and delivered every request with utmost consideration. Anybody visiting Thekady, I completely and whole heartedly recommend this stay.

We had a lovely stay. The bungalow is beautiful & we had spacious comfy rooms. Our host was very helpful & hospitable as were the staff, who made meals for us at some unusual times. Nothing was too much trouble. An added bonus was our conducted tour of the host’s spice garden.

Lovely spacious and clean room overlooking the beautiful grounds with balcony. The food was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our two nights here as part of our Kerala tour booked by Citrus Holidays and simply delightful. Mr Cyriac was very welcoming and helpful, happy to show us around his spice garden and chat about the area, history and previous visitors. Very highly recommended.

A truly wonderful place to stay to relax and enjoy this part of south India-,our balcony overlooked the spice plantation with resident toucan! Our host was very welcoming and took us on a walk through his spice plantation - it was very interesting for us to see the spices growing in the natural environment and to find out about how the are grown and harvested . Room and facilities were very good ... including kettle, fridge and hair dryer.

Pepper County was a wonderful homestay in a lush, cool and peaceful spice plantation. I spent 11 days resting here - it was the perfect place to quietly regather myself. Cyriac, the owner and host went out of his way to look after me as did Raju, the cook, Joes, the waiter and special Molly who, mostly via sign language, made sure I had all I needed. The large, cool and comfortable room overlooking the bird filled trees didn't need air con and I slept better than I have in years! Highly recommended.

We booked this Homestay on the back of all the positive reviews and are very glad we did.
Mr Cyriac and his wife Dolly are attentive and charming, always striving to give us the best possible experience.
Their home is in the village of Kumily, which is fun to explore on foot, and the bustling tourist town of Thekkady is just a short car journey away. We loved our time in the Tiger Reserve there too.
Accommodation is spacious and comfortable. Food is delicious and authentic. Staff are also very helpful.
It was a joy to accompany Mr Cyriac on a walk around his estate, as well as to see his brother's neighbouring dairy farm.
All in all a very pleasurable stay, thank you!
