The Kurivillas have a gem of a property. A centuries-old, meticulously restored, furnished and modernised Theravada house, sitting on top of a small hillock amidst acres of lush plantations, a stay here is like none other. The couple are superb hosts and they provide Kerala-style meals that are top notch. If you are looking for a quiet retreat, this is it.

This was the highlight of our tour around Kerala. From the gracious welcome to the reluctant departure every minute was enjoyable. The accommodation in the family's heritage house (400 years old approx) which has been renovated was exceptional, clean, bright and airy. Plenty of attention to detail to make your stay comfortable. The food was exceptional and each dish was explained so no surprises just lots and lots of flavours to savour. The tour around the gardens to see the plants and where a lot of the food is sourced was extremely interesting and educational (everyday is a school day). The trip to the family rubber plantation and the rubber factory were enjoyable and again informative. Our host also took us to the top of the hills about 20 minutes from the house to watch the sun go down over the hills and it was stunning. I must say the homestay was not what I expected it was far far better. When we are next in the area I hope to stay again.

Kuruvinakunnel Tharavadu, an amazing place to explore the variety and beauty of India. You live in the old heritage bungalow, the former plantage house out of the 18th century, nicely renovated, keeping the ancient impression. Louis and Clary are great hosts, not only by showing you their garden and plantation of rubber, pineapple, coconut, mango, papaya, passion fruit, coffee, muscat, pepper and many more. This freshness is fantastic- you will never buy at a supermarket afterwards. Clary is such a wonderful cook and baker. All the meals were different and so excellent! The entire family made you feel at home. Its such a lovely place and we hope to return again :-)
