We loved our stay at Bernard Bungalow. Traveling with my daughter was so much fun and Coral Bernard was extremely accommodating and helpful. Rooms were clean and quaint. Coral's recommendations of restaurants were fantastic, we loved everything that she suggested. Rooms came with breakfast. We would highly recommend staying at the Bernard Bungalow. It's centrally located and easy to walk... More

We decided to get a week in Kerala and we have got a lot of adventures concerning hotels and guesthouses. We arrived in Kochi during the night without having planning any place to stay and decided to follow the Lonely Planet advices. We found that beautiful building (from the 17th century) and tried. Straight forward the owners received us perfectly... More

I came here with a group of students from the UK just for one night and two days before flying home. We were overwhelmed when we arrived at how beautifully looked after the place was. Some kids had rooms down stairs, but ours were upstairs. The rooms on the upper floors (indeed it is not a bungalow) were beautiful. Polished... More

Carol was sooooo very helpful when I visited last year in August. I stayed there for 1 night, and she arranged a tour for me, as well as a cab to travel around in, where to go (As I was strapped for time), and had a general chit chat in the evening hours. staying at her Homestay definitely made my... Re the post about woeful breakfasts at Bernard Bungalow, could someone please remind me where the term "whingeing pom" came from? My experience was quite the opposite... Can't ever please everyone it seems but you went over the limits when I stayed with you

The house is a fine example of Colonial architecture in the heart of Kochi but that is about it. Firstly the booking process was difficult as Coral Bernard does not reply to emails. We were given a lovely big room with fine wooden furniture but at 4000INR a night you would expect something good. The bathroom however had a window with... More

This homestay represents excellent value in the mid-price range. We spent a little more and got a "deluxe" room, which I think just got us more space. I'm sure the other rooms are excellent also. The house has a colonial, antique feel to it, and has been well maintained. Perhaps the best feature of this homestay is the owner/manager Coral.... More

Bernard's bungalow is a beautiful Dutch house, which is meticulously maintained by the Coral, the owner of the house. She is a very friendly host. We stayed in one of the rooms on the ground floor. The room was simple and clean. We were three people, so we asked for an extra bed which was provided to us. In the... More

I stayed with my husband at Cochin's Berhard Bungalow in 2011. He died of cancer in 2013. I went back to Cochin for a friend's wedding this year, 2014 and asked Coral for the same room. She had already booked the same room without my asking. This is a delightful homestay in the heart of Fort Cochin. Coral was very... More
