This is a good place to stay in Cochin. There is a very pleasant garden forecourt. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Our room was light and spacious with an excellent shower and good air conditioning. Wi-fi was reliable. Breakfast was generous. There is a courtyard area at the back of the hotel next to a swimming pool. You... More

We stayed here 2 days at the end of a visit to Kerala in April. Weather was very hot and humid so a comfortable, spacious room with excellent shower and air-conditioning was much appreciated. The building has lots of character and history, staff are very helpful and friendly and the breakfast is very good. With just a little more improvement... More

Stayed here for 4 nights over easter weekend. The hotel is very quaint and extremely well looked after. The staff were excellent and helped to make our holiday very special. The food in the hotel was delicious. It took about 20 mins to walk into Kochi because it was so very hot and humid. The Seagull hotel on the port... More

what an amazing place to start the trip of a lifetime.. The bungalow was formerly owned by Brooke Bond (PG tips people!). We were told over breakfast that it was bought in a run down state and renovated by the current owner. Each room has been themed to reflect the influence of the spice trade and coincidentally mapped out my... More

Thoroughly enjoyed 2 nights here and would recommend. Room was big and airy with effective ac. The pool was a delight and good to lounge in. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Easy walk into town from the bungalow. Breakfast was omelette, toast and fruit- all good.

We stayed for three nights here. Fantastic old colonial hotel previously owned by brookbond. Staff were really helpful and really attentive. Food was also amazing, ask them to do a banana pancake with syrup for breakfast this is a local delicacy for breakfast and is delicious.

Thank god I didn't cancelled the booking at the last minute. The resort is a bit far from the airport but I think the time taken to reach there is worth it. The best thing is that we didn't find much traffic. This property almost looks like a heritage bungalow nowhere a hotel. Its a small property with just few... More

The location of Tea Bungalow is excellent: 5 minutes to most shops, 10 to the lovely beach, Chinese Fishing Nets, etc. This is a converted old large house, with 6 rooms: more of a guest house than a hotel. Formerly the HQ of international tea manufacturers, hence the name. A separate, newer block contains 4 more rooms. The spacious, rather empty... More

This is a lovely hotel, an old colonial home that was transformed. Many of the old furnishings are still present. The staff are very friendly, and there is an indoor courtyard. The bed, though lovely, has a rock-hard mattress, and neither of us could sleep (minus one rating). However, when we asked to be steered towards a quality massage place... More

Dempo Resorts and the historic Tea BungalowThe guiding force behind Tea Bungalow is Mr.Vivek Dempo founder of Dempo Resorts. The Dempo Family is one of the oldest families of Goa, who controlled the coconut trade from the 16th to the 19th Century. They also owned large cargo sailing ships which sailed from Goa to the African Ports of Portuguese colonies like Mozambique and Angola in the Indian Ocean. The restoration and decoration of Tea Bungalow has been a labour of love for Mr. Dempo. He has crafted an escape from the humdrum, noisy, soul-killing rush of everyday life. Tea Bungalow offers a tranquil place to step away for a while, to centre your thoughts and get the balance you need.Tea Bungalow occupies pride of place in the heart of the exclusive heritage area of Fort Cochin. The bungalow was built in 1912 and run as a workshop and office of a UK Company called United Carpets engaged in the manufacture and export of coir and spices. Brooke Bond the tea company bought the bungalow in 1956 and christened it Brooke Bond Bungalow which housed the top management of Brooke Bond & Company. Dignitaries used this bungalow for important meetings. Its history of spice and tea brought about its new avatar - Tea Bungalow. ... more   less
