Though we reached around 3pm at the hotel after 6 hours on road tiring journey it took more than 1 hour for check in done by aloof, arrogant and unprofessional Mr. Umer. Room was big with a bit dated furniture but clean linen, towels and bathroom was also clean and comfortable. Housekeeping was very good and service was prompt. But the worst experience was at the only restaurant working at the time. Dinner and breakfast services were very poor. Waiters were shabbily dressed and it looked like their dresses were not cleaned for days. Dull and reluctant attitude throughout the restaurant by every staff was quite shocking because of the brand image of Vivanta ( a Taj group hotel). Waiters came to table only after 2/3 calls, bills were presented after several reminders to every available person as the supervisor was also not present at the counter. During breakfast there were more chaos as the cutlery was not put on the table sufficiently, food items on the buffet table were not filled on time. Other guests were also getting angry because of the entire scenario. This happened on all the three days of our stay. In room dining service was also pathetic. Late arrival of food, side dishes missing and taking away of the used plates along with the bill presentation, everything was very lethargic and time consuming. However the food was not bad. After 1st day dinner experience we stopped taking food at the hotel except breakfast as we have booked our room with breakfast. On enquiry with the front desk manager the explanation given was also very funny that 10 days back the occupancy was 10% and now the hotel is fully booked. But as most of the booking is usually done beforehand they must have a knowledge about the future bookings. Besides in other high end hotels at Pahalgam and Gulmarg the services were excellent as expected from a better quality hotels. They must have also faced the sudden surge of booking but handled the situation very nicely. We booked 3 nights stay at Vivanta, Srinagar to celebrate our 50th anniversary but totally regret our decision to go for a Taj hotel brand image because of this horrible experience. We are travelling since last 40+ years and staying in different class of hotels but this was one of the the most unsatisfactory stay of ours that too at the occasion of our 50th anniversary. Overall it was a very very bad experience and here onwards we have decided not to stay in any Vivanta hotels in future.…
Doesn’t look like Taj experience. Awful services and staff including the Maintainence of the entire property. The restaurant remained choking with smoke all over. Understaffed and lack of basic training. This is our 6th time consecutive stay in Taj but it’s time to shift back to Lalit Srinagar. Indeed it turned out to very embarrassing for us to have taken along our extended families and spend 3 full days in the property. Only good thing was to have interacted with the Chefs there and Davinder who catered to our limited menu requirement to ensure food served is fresh and hot 🙏🏽
Location and views from the hotel are great. Rooms large in size. Tip: book cottages. Breakfast buffet good. But service is not what we expect from Taj group-- very slow took half an hour for room service to get anything. Buggies not working. Fridge not working. Overall poor maintenance.
I chose to stay in Vivanta by Taj for the very first night of my whole honeymoon trip and specially paid for room decor but the staff of the hotel goofed up and didn’t provide any of the services and ruined all the planned surprise for my wife, which no one would want on the very first night of your honeymoon trip and on the top of that when they realised that no decor has been done till evening then they lied that the decor is going on and please wait for another 10 mins in the lobby. Being on such a nice location with a great scenic view this makes it more disappointing!! Very very very very disappointing stay for a honeymoon trip would never be able to recommend the place personally !!
List of complaint is long. Overall worst experience. The only good part was they tried to compensate, though not appropriately. The main concern is it was not expected from Taj even after paying hefty amount to them. It took 4 hours for them to let us check in proper room.
