We stayed at Desert Marigold for 2 nights and 3 days and had a wonderful experience!! Loved the architecture and the atmosphere created, with lovely lush trees. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable, with a cute verandah outside looking at the garden. The staff were friendly and very hospitable. They served us some delicious breakfast on all 3 days and a lovely dinner one night. Scooter rental services and taxi for airport is also arranged for extra money, which made our trip more convenient and easy. Overall, I cannot complain about any one thing as we had a pleasant holiday Thank you so much!!

We booked a villa here for a long awaited holiday with elderly parents. I emailed and spoke with the owner (Nishad) several times to confirm that the property would suit us - especially considering the limited mobility of a heart patient. I explained our situation and was repeatedly assured that everything would suit us. We were offered the ‘best’ villa with a view and I was assured that the villa just had a few easy steps for access. We were also offered room service although that’s not their usual policy. Access: On check in, imagine the family’s shock on realising the entire property is on an incline with steps everywhere. Even to get to the restaurant. And a fairly difficult walk for a still-recovering patient. To be fair, they offered to change the villa so we picked one closer to the entrance - but it still had steep steps. Food: They were kind enough to send room service - since the restaurant was inaccessible for our parents - but the food was spicy, oily and basically didn’t work for us. Too few options and the same curry rehashed. Only after I chatted with the chef in his native language did we manage a half decent meal for them. Room/ villa: The rooms and bathrooms are large, but basic at best. Spotty linen and rock hard pillows. We took a 2 bedroom villa which had ACs only in the bedrooms. So we had to sweat it out when sitting together in the living room that has a few uncomfortable and basic chairs. Like a downmarket guest house. Decor and style are non-existent. The TVs are in the bedrooms but tiny and placed too far to view. So basically quite useless especially as cricket season was on. The view from the bedrooms/ balcony was nice but nothing spectacular. And it was too hot and humid to sit out anyway. Staff: The only bright spot are the service staff. Helpful, polite and they tried everything to make our stay better. So after one night and realising that our parents would have to spend an uncomfortable week basically trapped in the villa, we decided that we’d have to find another hotel with better access. I spoke to the owner immediately and explained the situation. He was sympathetic, apologetic and asked if we would leave that day. It was already evening so we stayed another night - and he said he’d figure out the billing adjustment as we had part-paid in advance. So far so good. We put it down to an oversight on both sides - me picking the hotel, and the hotel not understanding our needs. Given the discomfort, inconvenience and expense of shifting hotels at short notice, that we’d have to bear, we expected the owner to be accommodating. The owner acknowledged the (genuine) access problem and then told us that we’d have to forfeit an additional night’s charge. We were shocked! His reasoning was that the hotel could have sold the villa that we were now cancelling. A bit fresh, considering that we were the ONLY guests on the entire property since we arrived!!!!!!!! We saw no point in complaining to him about the property and its many shortcomings, since we were leaving anyway. But when the owner realised we were annoyed with this unfair charge, he then offered to give us a debit note for future use. We declined. We are never coming back, nor would we recommend Wildflower Villas to anyone. We took our custom to the Taj. Long story, but a short lesson in customer service - how to ensure customers don’t become fans. Btw, did I mention that the property was deserted? And, therefore (according to the owner) the pool hadn’t been cleaned. Yay! I’m still wondering how on earth did this place get all those positive ratings..

Dear Reviewer, Thank You for taking out time to review us and thank you for all the good words for our team. Set apart from the buzzing centre and still within easy access to all must visit locations, our Hotel is an oasis, a veritable sanctuary for our guests. The location is unique for it allows our guests' cultural transactions with the state of Goa and a plethora of activities both outdoors or indoors within the Hotel. By the reading of your sharp post on TripAdvisor it is evident that you are a seasoned traveller, and being well travelled also means that you understand hotel policies. You were interacting with the Owner directly for almost a week before you made a part payment against a confirmed reservation with us. We have clearly stated everywhere that we are a hillside property and the same was conveyed to you while you were discussing your reservation. You made a 50% payment for your reservation amount for 7 nights. We had offered you the villa which is specifically meant for differently-abled and Elderly citizens but you didn't like that villa. It was clearly mentioned to you that this villa is slightly basic in terms of aesthetics and more functional in terms of amenities keeping in mind the purpose. You were keen on another villa for which all the pictures were shared with you over WhatsApp.You asked to block that villa for you.It was also offered that car can go till the steps for your parents. On your reservation date, your husband and parents arrive and your husband demands to see all other villas available and he chose our four-bedroom villa not anticipating that the villa can be a difficult access for your parents. As your husband demanded, we let you take the four-bedroom villa which was not even part of the original discussion. So, I would kindly like to point out here that we did not offer you the villa you finally stayed at, it was very much chosen by the family. We were more than happy to accommodate room-service for your family to avoid any discomfort. You complained about the food being oily/tasteless only after you arrived on the second night and our chef spoke to you and was happy to prepare as per your instructions and you afterwards appreciated the food. All our food is freshly prepared and never rehashed. Also, as pointed out by you that you were never complained about the shortcomings in terms of amenities as you had already decided to leave. You never informed or mentioned about any of it to us. Also, hotel very much had another 2 villas reserved and had guests staying as contrary to your claim that there was nobody on the property. And none of the other guests complained about the pool being dirty. Also, it was never mentioned to you that pool has not been cleaned because there are no other guests. The swimming pool in an outdoor pool surrounded by plenty of greenery and due to monsoon winds, some leaves could have fallen inside the pool but that doesn't make the pool unclean and I am certain you were duly advised. You wished to check-out after staying for 2 nights. When we communicated to you that due to hotel policies, we cannot refund you the balance fund remaining of 1 night charge, we adjusted the same against extras including F&B, self-drive car rental and airport pick-up. You were displeased at that also and above is your vitriolic reply. I understand your disquiet but as a Hotel I take umbrage to the fact that we have to be seen to apologise to guests when we are absolutely and undeniably on the right side. You must have researched about the property and must have checked out the pictures-normal procedure- before making a reservation or calling us up.We offered all we could have in our capacity to make your stay comfortable with us. I am sorry you were inconvenienced and you were put out by this – it could have been averted had you taken our suggested villas. We've had guests of much senior age than your parents and more mobility issues but I am proud to say that we have always fulfilled our agreement to make their stay with us comfortable and memorable. Therefore, we always thank our esteemed guests for their kind reviews. We wish you well in future travels. Regards,

Wildflower Villas is a resort tucked in the hilly forests of Sapiem, Candolim. Individual neat Portuguese style villas are built in this little enchanting forest. The place is quiet, except for the incessant chirping of crickets and the occasional barking of Mustard, Max and Polo, the adorable resident dogs. It was the owner's birthday ( Mr. Amol Navelkar) during our stay and he was gracious enough to invite us to his birthday party held at the resort. The food here absolutely tastes home cooked, the staff is polite and efficient and we loved the overall 'non-hotel' feel of this place. With the Sinquerim/Candolim beach just a 10 min drive away, Wildflower Villas was just the nature fix we needed away from the maddening chaos of Bombay.
