Awful ignorant staff , who make excuse after excuse. A suite was booked, on arrival it was obvious they had overbooked, we were shown what at best could be described as a low grade chalet, a hybrid of a hut with a side room. Crumpled unmade bed with grey stains on the bedding. No toilet paper, water think curtain and a 1 cm gap in the door frame to let the mosquitos in. These jerks wouldn't move me so I said screw the money, left abd went to the Kairaba down the road. I got 50% back from my credit card company. A real disgrace of a hotel. Totally stupid staff.

This is one of the best hotels I've ever visited! We have visited The Gambia 11 times have stayed at this hotel for the last 7 visits, I can only describe it as an absolutely fantastic hotel with amazing attentive staff the hotel has the best hospitality I've ever seen. I really recommend this place to everyone visiting Gambia it's such a chilled, relaxing hotel with an absolutely fantastic staff team who goes out of their way to help the guests to have the most relaxing, stress free holiday, The Hotel is in a good location. Close to the beach and strip. I for sure will defiantly return again and again.

Our first time in Gambia and a very different experience, Nothing to compare this place with and weve been around a bit now. First impression at the airport with the hustle and hassle from the vast crowd waiting outside the arrivals may leave you intimidated, Pound coins seem to be the general expected tip and everyone will want to carry your cases and help in anyway they can to receive one!! After the initial shock we arrived at the Hotel and found the receptionists there helpful enough, Not the Hilton with cold water or hot flannels to freshen up but friendly enough. Rooms are adequate but remember this is a developing country so there may be some issues!! We struggled with the water supply a couple of times and there were often power outages during the nights, Our two children complained about the terrible folding sofa beds that were provided and they were promptly replaced with proper wooden beds. A couple of ceiling fans were sufficient enough to keep the room cool on the nights so we deferred from paying the £7 a night fee for air con, Basic but clean and ok if your like us and generally just gonna sleep, shower and out!! Breakfast is fairly basic but kept us happy enough, Eggs,Omelettes, Scrambled or fried, Sausages, Beans, Toast, The usual conti stuff etc. Pools ok but we preferred the Djemba's facilitys which are accessable as this is the same hotel group, Djemba is just next door and accesses the beach, I thought the rooms and layout at Djemba were nicer and more modern than the Djeliba!! Food is ok for snacks but the BBQ night was a tad expensive at 500D and tbh not too clever, You will eat better outside on the strip for less, Finally, Book some trips and see the real Gambia, The people here are so friendly and helpful if you put your trust in them, Most of them are genuine so give them a chance and they will look after you. I would definately come back to the Gambia and stay in the Djemba next time

We visited again 17th February same hotel for our 25th wedding anniversary, got the same usual great service from the waiting staff and poolbar staff. Only gripe i had this time is that the pool boys are different to last year and i witnessed young women having to lift their own pool beds etc and the pool boys (not all i may add) would just sit i the shade on their phones. The beer and food etc has nearly doubled in price since 2017 but its still cheap. Room was upstairs in the main building and only had one double socket in the entire room which was annoying as it was under the tv table and i just used the ceiling fan as it was cold enough when on and actually muffled the street noise from the main road at night. Water pressure was very poor and the wanted £10 an hour to keep room on as our flight was very late at night. I noticed that the security wasnt there either on the main road as was last time we visited, the begging from locals has gotten worse but be firm say no and walk on. Already looking for 2020 for my next return and i would pick the same hotel again :) wee small things need changed but does the job

Situated away from the busy strip but within walking distance of bars, restaurants and the beach. Room very small, basic but adequate, A safe and air conditioning are available at a daily rate. Maid service every day and clean towels. We were advised by Thomas Cook a couple of days before we travelled that our flight was to be delayed by 4 hours. On arrival we asked if we could keep the room on, we were told they would "see". The following week we again asked to be told they didnt think so, the day before departure we asked again and were told no. On the day of departure we vacated the room as expected at noon. At 4pm we asked for the use of a shower room. We were told there wasn't one and to use the swimming pool shower. Whilst leaving the reception area another guest was asking the same question, again to be told no rooms available, he began screaming and shouting demanding to see the manager. Later that day after we have been showered in the cold water pool shower we saw staff wheeling the cases of the man who was shouting. They took them to the room we had vacated that day. When we questioned staff they lied to us saying that it was their friends room and they were just using the shower. It was clearly a case of make a fuss and get what you want. This was our second visit to this hotel and now it will be our last.

We are sorry to learn that we were unable to provide you with an extended room vacate. It is true that when the hotel is fully booked that it is not always a possibility to extend room times. We will speak to reception staff to ensure that all guests are treated equally.

THE ROOM My husband and I travelled as a couple and stayed in room 205 which is a suite upstairs in the main building. The room had a bathroom with shower, bedroom with ample storage space and living area. The safe was free of charge. The fridge and air con were payable if required. We didn't use either. I emailed ahead of our stay to enquire about mosquito nets and was told they are not supplied by the hotel so I brought my own with me, however, I did not need it as the mosquitos are not very common in February. Our maid was fantastic, she came and gave the room a thorough clean every day and changed our towels if we left them on the floor. THE LOCATION There is a green taxi rank just outside of the hotel. If you pop over and speak to the controller he will give you a card for a taxi driver and you can then use that person for any trips which you require that week. We used Solomon who had a 7 seater and was brilliant. We also had a couple of trips booked prior to arriving with black and white safari tours who were also amazing. There are a few bars and restaurants on the street of the hotel and the main strip is a 5-10 minute walk either along the beach or along the main road which has lots of entertainment, bars, clubs and restaurants. FOOD Breakfast lovely, and all the usual buffet items were available (omletts, pancakes, cooked breakfast, breads, cheeses, fruit etc). The lunch menu changes daily and they will bring it over to you whilst you are laying around the pool. We had lunch at the hotel twice and both times the food was lovely. STAFF Every member of staff we spoke to remembered our names and greeted us polietly everytime they saw us. They work long hours in very hot weather and will do everything they can to help you make the absolute best of your time in the Gambia. We are already looking to book a return visit so we hope to see you all again very soon!

We have just returned from an amazing week at Djeliba Hotel and it really was one of my best experiences i could wished for,for my first visit to Gambia. The hotel itself is pristinely cleaned, the gardens are well maintained and the staff are willing to do anything to make sure you are happy. The pool area is the perfect sun tap and a great place to spend lazy days, loungers are plentiful and comfy. We went on two separate day trips with Aziz,4 tours in 1 day and Safari to Fathala Park in Senegal. He pick up from the hotel and everything is taken care of drinks throughout the day.He make sure you don't get dehydrated, and meals included. He is so friendly helpful and knowledgeable,he make the whole experience absolutely fabulous. All in all the most amazing week and we will be back..

Having stayed at Private Apartments for the last 8 years we decided at xmas we would treat ourselves for a little week in the sun. We booked Djeliba (never stayed here before). The hotel was great, yes the rooms are basic but if you are looking for something really fancy then go and pay over the odds and stay elsewhere! As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. The hotel is clean, rooms cleaned daily and communal areas also clean. Staff are friendly and happy to assist with anything they can. I did not attend breakfast once during my stay, I do not eat breakfast back home so did not want to overindulge. My husband attended breakfast each morning and said it was OK. Pool is a nice size and they often have pool games daily. Our room was in the main hotel on 1st floor - 201. Nice size, clean and all we needed for a cheap week away. The fan was adequate and air con was not needed. We did pay 4 days for the fridge as we needed this for our duty-free and beer - was well worth it. After 4 days my husband explained he had booked us into my favourite apartments as a surprise to meet up with friends, so our time at Djeliba was short lived but I enjoyed it a lot, we have booked to go back 01/01/20 with our son of 8 years old. There are many basic hotels in Gambia but this one is a little better due to location, staff, cleanliness and the atmosphere is great. We look forward to returning in the new year. Hotel is 5-10 minute walk to the main strip - we visited here a couple of times for amazing meals at Darboes and Scala.
