Great hotel with lovely staff! On the beach, which is a very, very nice one, a little difficult not to be disturbed by the locals but nothing unpleasant. Ok food, the variety could be somewhat better. Clean rooms, quite basic and some rooms without door to the bathroom. Wifi so so,ok in reception area. Pools well looked after and green, lucious garden. A calm relaxing spot, can definitely recommend!

Thanks for your review of the hotel. Just to clarify we would add that some rooms at Djembe do not have doors to the bathrooms but that all rooms have doors on the WC within them. Thank you choosing us as your destination hotel. We are happy to know that you found it a calming relaxing vacation.

Returned from this hotel on Thursday after an 11 night stay. Used the coach for transfer which went ok. Arrived about 21:00, swift check in then shown to our room. Room basic but spotlessly clean, beds are a little uncomfortable, lumpy mattresses. Purchased air con at 8 euros a night, but we needed it for us. The bar man followed us to our room and asked us what drinks we wanted from the bar, feeling flustered we ordered 2 vodka tonics, he then left us to un pack. We went down stairs and were directed to a bar, which was Poco Loco next to hotel and waited. No drinks arrived so we purchased 2 more at the bar. Then the barman from hotel comes and finds us and insists we pay for the drinks we ordered at extortionate prices. We ate at local restaurants which were all lovely. Trip to the strip a couple of nights, a must to eat is 2 rays and Reo bar (both delicious). Taxi from outside hotel but agree price first!! Some of the locals that congregate out side the hotel can become a nuciance by pestering for cash, then invite themselves to sit with you in bars and order themselves a drink on your tab without asking, ruined our stay to be honest. Don’t get me wrong some of the locals are lovely and genuine just some ruin it for others. The pool bar at the hotel is quite pricey but the service from the lovely Aime was first class. Entertainment at the hotel was pathetic to be fair!!, will we return??. Yes definately........see you in February Djembe

Thank you for your review of Djembe Resort following your recent holiday. We are sorry to learn of the mix-up with your first drinks, as we are sure they were well needed after a long trip to reach us. Our staff have to account for all drinks that leave the bar so perhaps the barman was worried about having to explain their whereabouts. However it is something we want to ensure does not happen again to other guests so we thank you for raising the point. We hope you enjoyed your time at Poco Loco nonetheless and we look forward to your return :-)

We have been visiting the Gambia for a number of years and I can honestly say that this hotel is the best we have stayed at it offers everything the rooms are spacious and well equipped with a tv and lovely shower the water always hot .The breakfast was also to a great standard with freshly cooked omelettes and a range of cereals fruit and breads. The location is perfect it is nicely tucked away and you can have a lovely walk to nearby bars and restaurants on the beach. The pool guy Omar is really helpful and will go out of his way to make your holiday enjoyable. The entertainment team also do a great job not pushy but try to involve guests in activities. All in all we would give this hotel five stars and will definitely be back. Thanks Djembe.

It was our first visit to The Gambia and to the Djembe Beach Resort. The services at Djembe Beach Resort was very nice and we were always met with a smile from all staff. We had several small chats during the day,and they told us about the hotel,Gambia and could answer all our question. The location is fantastic, close to the beach and the included sunbeds and service with the sunbeds was very much appreciated. We ate at Darboes, for traditional Gambian food. Pocoloco which we would recommend and visited 3 times which was very nice. We also ate at the hotel which was also very nice too. We booked all our trips with Aziz on recommendation and TripAdvisor reviews and we were not disappointed. We did the Excellent 4 in 1 tour, which gives you an insight into the real Gambian lifestyle and The Lazy Day Boat Cruise and we even had the boat to our selves! Great Guide,Abdou Aziz informative and friendly throughout. We will certainly return.

Our staff love to chat to our guests and it's great to learn that they were able to answer all your questions during your stay. We also love a visit to Poco Loco when we aren't working so thanks for recommending them also. They will be pleased to learn that you visited 3 times during your holiday, especially when there are so many places to choose from on your doorstep. We look forward to welcoming you again one day.
