We had a fine 3 day stay at Renais Fenua. Our room was comfortable and clean. Syrill helped us along the way and spoke enough English to make things work. The food is excellent, dinners are highly recommended. The baguette was superb,as was the wonderful fresh fruit served at breakfast. The charming gardens and small pool were a pleasant place to relax. This lovely pension is recommended for the budget conscious visitor who does not require great luxury and may not be fluent in French.
I staid twice in the pension during my visit in Polynesia, my first impressions were good but after visiting other islands I returned for one night there and my stay was completely different: It seems that the two French employees are nice only if they can sell either an excursion, a car or a meal otherwise they do not even dare to say hello to you. They leave the pension empty between 2 and 6 pm and do not return in the evening, this means that if your plane is late at night - often the case- you have to wait till the cook comes in the evening to use the bathroom and get your stuff. The pension is very very far from Papeete, they offer you either to rent a car (through them) or to use a taxi - always the same- for a price which is not always the same (between 6.000 and 7.000 xpc which is a very heavy price). This taxi man drives you, charges you the full price but uses the ride to pick up other customers for the same price again at the time it fits his agenda-must be a very rentable job for him. He feels like at home in the pension, taking what he wants from the fridge instead of caring about you... I could not sleep a single hour in the last night my air conditioning wasn’t working - but nobody was there in the evening to report the problem, as I mentioned it the day after I was told what it still not repaired? - so the problem was known but as I arrived the manager preferred finish her meal instead of saying hello to me, she left the taxi driver bring me to my room so she obviously did not mentioned the air conditioning... One very positive thing though the 3 Polynesian girls working in the pension are very nice helpful and competent - they deserve more than a plus, I thing the two French employees should learn a bit from Polynesian hospitality which is mostly the reason why we want to travel there...…
Iorana, Thank you Sabrina and staff..you have been most helpful to our group from Aotearoa/New Zealand. All our arrangements by email were completely met by you and your team. We appreciated having a warm welcome, friendly faces, and helpful service for our short stay. Rooms were exactly what we needed, clean, tidy and sufficient for our two night short stay. Mauruuru korua...Would recommend this place to anyone who wants clean, simple accomodation with great hosts...!
We chose this hotel after returning from a cruise on the Paul Gauguin. We did not have a car and were looking for a relaxing day before flying home. We took a taxi from the port 40$ and were met with a friendly smile. The hotel is not fancy, but it was clean, had a fridge, and a microwave. We were told of a couple options walking from the hotel. To the left about 10 min was a city park and beach. On the way was a small grocery store with fresh baguettes and drinks. To the right is a fantastic food truck that opens at 6 enroute to a beautiful beach again on a public park. This was a nice day, relaxing with some walkable choices. If you are looking for glamour and over the water, this is not it. But a relaxing, clean, and friendly location this works fine.
This place is nice & close to the beach but far from the pier. It is clean & nice & quiet. The staff were very helpful. They offer breakfast & dinner if you want. The stores are not very far. Beautiful sunset view from the beach.
Very nice hotel, with great rooms, a nice pool and the best breakfast! :) Folks working there sooo friendly, really Polynesian hospitality with a French touch! Location a little out of the way, but that means it is close to the beach, and cars can easily and affordable be rented at the hotel! Would stay again there if coming back to Tahiti!
We arrived late and our host cooked us dinner since the restaurants were closed. We shared stories and chatted like we were longtime friends. We felt so welcome and at home after a long day of travel. We would go back in a heartbeat.
After a long trip we stayed one night at relais fenua. It s a family pension with lot of charme. Very clean and good beds. We can recommend it to stay! There is a shop nearby and in the evening you have a food truck or a pizzeria. (We went to the foodtruck and it was very good)
I stayed here as a solo traveller for 3nights after a 7 day kayaking trip in Raiatea. I arranged pick up and drop off from airport at extra cost but there is also a very cheap local bus that runs past the entrance daily except Sunday. The room was perfectly adequate with private facilities and a cool shaded out door area, both air con and a ceiling fan in the room. I choose this accommodation because it was extremely affordable compared to other places in Tahiti and because the owners spoke English as well as French. Breakfast was included and there was a local shop about 150m down the road to buy any other supplies as well as several roulottes also within 150m for evening meals and a snack bar across the road. There is a very small pool with two deck chairs but it is very central so not very private for lounging. There are two beaches also within 150-200m - one is large and nice white sand and also very popular the other is more rocky and I found this was a good beach to go for a snorkel from. SUP boards and kite surfers were available to rent at the beaches. While there is a fridge in the room there was no jug to make a hot drink or cutlery/plates/cups to use for purchased food. The owners were very pleasant and helpful. Also free and good WIFI…
I stayed there for four nights after spending 5 nights in much more pricey places on the islands. First of all it was very affordable considering Tahiti is so expensive in general. Included was even a taxi ride from the ferry to the hotel (20 minutes). The manager Vincent answered the phone every time I had a question (before my stay there) and was helpful. When I got there the room was simple yet quite comfortable with AC, the biggest bed, almost king if not king size, French tv with quite a few channels (no CNN but good riddance)... all my questions were answered. it was clean. The small pool was actually fun because in spite of its size it had a jet so you could swim against a stream of water in place and it was good resistance training. At night Vincent put on some very festive laser lights over the pool. The chef was sick and it is the beginning of the season so we did not get meals, but had a kitchenette and fridge but regularly you can get home cooked meals as well. The hotel is up a hill only 15 minute walk to a store and one of the nicest if not the nicest beach in Tahiti. Across the beach was a pizza man who did fire cooked home made pizza...very good... the little street to the hotel had chickens and goats nearby, was quiet and felt very safe. We had so many warnings from other hotels about theft that it felt quite relaxed by comparison to the more expensive place...maybe the thiefs if there are some in the area prefer targets with more money? One thing that saddened me in Tahiti were all the stray dogs and cats, some that looked like they are starving...so it was also nice to see the hotel cats quite well fed, playful and always ready for a visit, a cuddle or play... it made me feel that someone was taking care of their animals... if you like simple yet peaceful accommodations, this is great. You also have a local phone to use to book your other trips, you can rent a car from the owner once you get there for a day or more. Going down the road to Tahiti Niti one day was really nice. This is not Bora Bora, but it is local Tahiti. The beach is also called PK18, and there is a nice gift store nearby PK18 where the women are lovely. We spent quite a bit of time shopping for gifts and at the end they gave me a gift. Overall. The downside of the location could be that it is not ocean front and we stayed ocean front the rest of the trip, but by the ocean is also the road, and some areas are really noisy if they book you in a place by the road. So it is a trade off. …
