OK. On the face of things it is not a cheap getaway but if you factor in that your meals AND drinks are included Namale is worth taking another look. As a honeymoon destination or perhaps to celebrate a special occasion, Namale will certainly please. No bills to scour over on the last day is a great feeling. The resort is very much tailored for the US market hence the predominantly American guests that were visiting. Certainly not an issue for us and great to meet some people from the other side of the world. The food was for us very good though we felt a little restricted in choices for some. I personally found a lot of the food over salted to my liking but that may be a personal thing. For those that like wine with dinner there was a very reasonable New Zealand and Australian wine list to choose from. There is also a well serviced bar with a broad range of spirits and mixers to have created cocktails and night cap drinks for those who want to party on. I can totally recommend the prawns. They just pop in the mouth. Would have been nice to see more seafood options (crayfish) and the Kakoda which is a Fiji highlight. The rooms are all stunning, spacious, well appointed and totally relaxing. We had a garden room originally which was perfect but were upgraded for our last night to a magnificent honeymoon suite (many thanks). We were originally in the ‘Lisi’ room but we were able to move to ‘Lynetti’. The weather was not so good and having an outdoor covered area offered us some space to be able to sit outside while it rained and was worth the move. The further move to Loloma was a complete surprise and very much appreciated. What really impresses is the sense that you are the only people there. Other than for meal times when you may wish to go to the restaurant you would not know there were others on the resort. The spa centre is out of this world. The best massage I have ever had. The hydro pool, sauna, waterfall massage and plunge pools are all complimentary. My only criticism (constructive) is the communication prior to booking and while at the resort. While the weather is not the fault of the resort, it is important that guests are kept better informed particularly with challenging weather and that options are provided. All up 4.5/5.0

Bula! We deeply appreciate your visit to Namale Resort & Spa and the thoughtful review you shared here on TripAdvisor. Welcoming guests from around the globe is a privilege, and our aim is to craft exceptional holiday experiences for each of our guests. Your enjoyment during your stay means the world to us. Our all-inclusive resort allows you to relax and indulge without worrying about expenses for food, beverages (including alcohol), and numerous activities. Though uncommon, severe weather can occasionally affect Fiji. During such times, guest safety remains our top priority, and we work closely with airlines to ensure smooth arrivals and departures. We trust you had the chance to partake in our various land activities, both our regular offerings and specially curated experiences. As we navigate through unexpected changes, we continuously strive to enhance our communication with our guests. Our commitment to serving freshly caught seafood is a point of pride. However, inclement weather might occasionally affect our seafood menu as fishermen may be unable to go out during these times. The intimate boutique setting of our resort, set across vast acres, provides the exclusivity that our guests cherish. Whether in our restaurant or on your bure's outdoor deck, we hope you found moments of tranquility during your stay. Our award-winning spa is a source of pride for our team, and we're delighted you had the chance to unwind with a treatment and enjoy our hydrotherapy room. We eagerly await the opportunity to welcome you back to Namale Resort & Spa, where we'll continue crafting magical memories together. This is not the Four Seasons, but it offers good value for money in a gorgeous setting with many facilities. Infrastructure 5/5 - Impressive beach front villas - Quality furniture all around - Nice gym, impressive spa, crazy play room - Large resort with plenty of small private places to dine/relax/propose... - A stone throw from the Savusavu Airport Service 3/5 - Housekeeping visits inconsistent - Restaurant staff unequal, some nice, some almost rude - Room service hands you the tray of wrapped plates, etc, for you to arrange, and forgets items. - Spa staff seems to be annoyed by visitors requests - Golf carts rarely come Food 3/5 - Restaurant is set menu (that you apparently cannot get in room service, which is essentially American bar food) - Uninspiring menus not well executed - All inclusive is good, but alcohol is all very low shelf

Bula and Vinaka Vakalevu for sharing your 4-star experience at Namale on TripAdvisor! We were delighted to receive the high ranking score you gave Namale. We are disappointed to hear of the shortfalls you’ve experienced during your stay. We understand that your stay in our Grand Villa, Dream House, was brief at just two nights. Most guests choose extended stays (7+ nights) to fully explore our vast 500-acre oceanfront resort. We also strongly recommend our guests opt into our property tour within 24 hours of arrival, which acquaints guests with our amenities and activities, enhancing the experience. Not participating in this tour might have led to misunderstandings. Namale offers a multitude of flexible dining options, with custom selections available. While our dinner menu has three options, guests can request vegetarian, Fijian, Indian, Indo-Fijian, or personal dishes, even mixing and matching. It is our pleasure to provide dining experiences that our guests enjoy. We apologize if our spirits and wine selection didn't meet your preferences; tastes vary. We are proud of our offering, generally enjoyed by guests. If you felt unwelcome throughout your stay, we sincerely apologize. Our award winning staff is known, and critically acclaimed, for their warmth and hospitality. Your feedback is vital, and we aim to improve. Thank you for choosing Namale. We hope to welcome you back for a longer stay, allowing you to fully experience our beautiful resort. Vinaka Vakalevu & Warm Regards, Nowdla & Bill Keefe, Co-General Managers Namale Resort & Spa

Of all the vacations I've been on, nothing compares to our visit to Fiji and the Namale resort. From the moment we entered to the moment we left, we were surrounded by warm and friendly faces and a beautiful adults only resort. There were different activities each day (the tours into the town and village were great) and while the weather may have canceled some of the water tours and outdoor dining, we always found something to do whether it was hanging out by one of the pools or doing something at the Kava Bowl. The different entertainment offered each evening was always interesting, and I really enjoyed Kava time. Perhaps the best thing overall was the Fijian people. These are the friendliest people I have ever met. They really make you feel special. It's always bula and vinaka. I will always remember my stay here and we will be returning.

My husband and I stayed at Namale for a little over one week last year, and could not have imagined a better experience. It was a long trip to get there, but the breathtaking location, friendly and attentive service, and delicious fresh foods made it absolutely worth the travel time. Our villa included a plunge pool, hot tub, indoor and outdoor showers, three private decks, a staircase down to our very own private beach/ocean access, and a pool table and giant movie projector screen. Everything (with the exception of the evening couples and private spa experience we did) was included! We were driven to a private picnic at a waterfall were we could go swimming, had a candlelit dinner on the beach under a rock formation, were taken to a snorkeling location and had a private tour, took a bus into town and toured the market and shops…the options felt unlimited. The bowling alley was also a fun spot! My husband and I hope to go back again at some point in our lives, because we both agree it was one of the best trips either of us had ever been on.

I can't begin to describe the level of service and connection w the staff at Namale. I had high expectations to some degree going to Namale...but I had no idea that it would exceed them by that much. Resorts don't connect in this way...you feel like you've met this people before bc they are so genuine and kind and friendly that you immediately feel at ease. It's the Fijian way...and if the world was full of people like this....we would all be living in paradise. BTW, it's not just the resort...people in the city and surrounding areas are similar....constant Bula's and Vinaka's from everyone. The food is ridiculous good and it's an all-inclusive?!...new menu everyday for lunch and dinner...and 5-star...sooo good. The staff at the restaurant is where you get the Namale touch.....waiters to bartenders....it's hard to convey how great it is. We felt as though we were eating at a high end restaurant for every meal. It does rain pretty consistently...and that is evidenced by the natural beauty of the grounds and surrounding vistas and the impeccable landscaping that they have done. It's like staying at a Nature Preserve....exactly what we wanted. It's not a white sand beach resort...although the beach is private and great in my opinion. The activities are great too...just have to be patient w the weather at times. What Namale isn't is the Four Seasons..or a corporate resort....it's the embodiment of local culture manifested in a relaxing, secluded environment enjoying the highest level of genuine service. I could continue on and on....the warmest Vinaka to the staff for an experience of a lifetime.

Bula and thank you so much for sharing such kind words about your trip to Namale Resort & Spa. We are so happy that you enjoyed your stay – we pride ourselves on exceeding your every expectation while you experience a luxurious, authentic Fijian getaway. We're forever grateful for our friendly Fijian staff that bring to life the true essence of the Fijian culture through the ever-present bula spirit. We enjoy going beyond the land of the resort to provide a culturally rich experience by offering tours into town and local villages, but also through the evening entertainment - and even when it rains, the show must go on! These features of the all-inclusive Namale experience allow you to get so much out of your visit to our island home. And as you well know, after taking in a full day at Namale, it's great to unwind at the restaurant for a meal. Disclaimer:Although a travel agent, I will always review based on a traveler perspective with customer service insight as I have lived both positions for a very long time. Customer service in conjunction with my experience as a customer is what drives my repeat business and recommendations to friends, family and clients. Where can I begin? I did a lot of research for a place in Fiji where my husband and I would spend our honeymoon and Namale was my pick after seeing that they were the only all inclusive resort in Fiji. I didn't want to have to worry about doing a whole lot of extra stuff like food finding and things because we really just wanted to enjoy our honeymoon. Both of us had a bit of a rough past few years and we truly wanted rest and relaxation and not a lot of worry about outside things. Upon arriving we were greeted with song and amazing staff. Coming from the US, even though we slept on the plane, we were exhausted as we left the US the day after our wedding for our honeymoon. As we were given the rundown of the property my husband found our new found family and his ultimate Jenga partner at the front reception Maria. Once checked in we were taken to our Bure which Loloma which means Love. It was perfect. The next 10 days we had such an amazing time. Jenga with Maria and my husband became the highlight of every time we went past reception. The grounds are consistently being taken care of and the food is absolutely amazing! We enjoyed Kava time, the entertainment at night (which we ended up being a part of with another couple we met there), the food, the pools, church, village tours, Kava bowl and so much more. There are things to do off site as well which we definitely did. We did the Sandbar picnic and the village tour to one of the local villages, and church. On site we ate at the restaurant and had room service which was all great. One of the restaurants near the spa was closed but in all honesty it didn't make a difference as we stayed full. We also took part in the Moonlight Magic spa package which was amazing, and had a waterfall picnic (without the hike), learned a lot about the coconut, and did a picnic at the blowhole and cocktails at I think it is called the Lover's Deck! Staff was not staff, they truly are family. We literally cried leaving the property after 10 days. Each and every person was absolutely family that we came across and always a smile. Just some of the staff to name (I tried to literally keep track of everyone's name while there, but couldn't get all of the names I wanted to have.) Bar/Restaurant Filo, Kevin, Tony, Holena, Fiu, Samei, Peci, Mili (I like to call her Mama Mili) Reception/Concierge Donna, Maria, Mari Activities Paul, Christine, Loddy, Emosi All of the couples we met were amazing as well. There was no hustle and bustle and it really is a place to unplug. There is wifi, but the signal is not the best. However, do yourself a favor and don't even think about wifi or doing anything other than unplugging. This truly is a place to just let go and be, and get away from the hustle and bustle of life. We are already planning a trip back with friends, and have told so many people they have to visit. If you are looking for new, hip, modernized, busy then this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a great place to truly enjoy and unplug, and meet new family, where every single detail matters, this is definitely the place for you. We will be back for sure. This is our home away from home now.

Bula! From the moment we stepped off of the airplane at Savusavu we had a wonderful experience. It was nice to unplug from the world for a while and just enjoy the beautiful surroundings, the company of my spouse, and the very friendly and accommodating staff. My husband and I stayed in the Jeri, which is an Ocean Tropical Suite. We completely enjoyed staying in a more tradtional style, stand alone bure vs a hotel type room that you would find elsewhere. We were feet away from the beach and had a nice large deck to enjoy when we were not at the beach, the spa, an outting, or enjoying some of the private areas Namale has to offer. We did not have a private plunge pool at our bure, but did make use of the pool near the spa. We were always the only people at pool. Our bure had wi-fi, as did the public spaces, so we were able to check on things at home when needed. Who wants to spend your vacation with your face buried in electronics when you have this resort to enjoy? We made use of the spa for massages three times during our stay and highly recommend the services provided. We scheduled a Moonlight Magic Massage, a Sunset Bliss Massage, and the Fijian Bobo massage and they were fantastic. Sivi and the ladies at the spa make you feel completely at ease. On days we did not have massages scheduled, we walked up to the spa and used the hydrotherapy room, which requires no appointment and is free of charge to any guest. Our dining experience was very good, we ate in the dining room for some meals, ordered in room service for some, and took advantage of the options for dining around the property on multiple occasions. It was nice to relax and take time to enjoy a cocktail in the evening and chat with Tony and the other bartenders, then ease into a pleasant dinner, we were on island time after all. Tupsy and the rest of the dining staff made all of our meals relaxing and enjoyable. As for dining around the property we were able to enjoy lunch at the private waterfall. Another evening we were able to delight in cocktails and snacks at the Blowhole/ Lover's Deck then use the hot tub located there to watch the sunset over the Koro Sea. The most romantic evening was the night we had a candlelit dinner at the cave. I could not have asked for a more beautiful way to celebrate our 34th anniversary. There are activities scheduled for each day if you want to participate, just check the Coconut Telegram posted at the reception center, the dive shop, or on the schedule delivered to your room at turndown each evening. One day we went into the nearby town of Sauvusavu for a little shopping. We went to the pre-dinner show most nights. The nights that Namale has the Kava ceremony are a must do, you will feel very relaxed after a couple of high tide/ tsnuami cups. We explored the reefs at low tide and found lots of little crabs and sea creatures. We purchased the sandbar picnic and snorkel trip, which is an extra but only $99 Fijian Dollars per person (that's about $45 US dollars) and worth every penny. We swam with sharks... Little reef sharks, but still... The entire staff made our exprience one to remember. Everyone was so friendly and knew our names. We were greeted with Bula Lisa and Bula Ronnie and smiles and waves many times each day. When it was time for us to checkout, some of the staff that we became friendly with sought us out to tell us how much we would be missed and tell us we are now part of the Namale family. Every contingency was though about. Forget to pack something, just ask or visit the little shop by the concierge office.Need surf shoes to walk the reef? Borrow them from the dive shop. Forget insect repellent, they have it out for your use. Yes, you are in the tropics and there are insects, all of the beautiful flowers and fruit trees are pollinated by something. Our only regret is that we didn't book more days. We are already discussing a return to Namale when my husbands retires in a couple of years and we have longer to stay. If I could, I would give them more than 5 stars and we will definitely return. Vinaka Vakalevu Namale!

Warning to prospective vacationers, this is not a five or even three star resort. The resort is quite old and has not been maintained well. It starts from the moment you are picked up in a less that average vehicle. They drop you at reception and be warned the mosquitoes are vicious and the itch they leave behind is insatiable. The golf carts that drive you around are incredibly old and in need of service and the drivers are very quiet. We ordered room service the first day and it took forever even though there were only 4 couples at the resort at the time. Overall the food was far from great - nothing is seasoned and everything was over cooked and very mediocre at best. Service was ok yet very slow. The staff were friendly but you could tell they don’t strive to give you an amazing customer service experience. Did the sand bar tour for an extra $100 and again old boat and the sand bar had garbage all over it and mostly crown of thorns to see while snorkelling. They give you a mayo based sandwich for lunch that was in a hot cooler for hours (who does that). I guess the resort is owned by Tony Robbins but he sure doesn’t put any money back into the place and we felt ripped off quite frankly. Other factors, gym was ok but very old equipment as units are apparently hard to get. Cultural shows were ok but felt forced (touristy). Bugs are wild, ants everywhere and spiders and roaches in the Villa every night as there are dozens of entry points they can’t be sealed. Our pool, although large in our Villa was not treated properly and my Wife and I received skin infections as a result. Wifi only in our room and at reception and it’s spotty and weak at best. Spa was nice although we asked for 2 female massage therapists and ended up with a man and woman. Not sure how hard that was to get right. Booze is plentiful. Bowling alley was cool but only one of two lanes worked. Power goes out a lot and their back up generator is also sketchy. Solid 2 of 5 but if your expectation is top notch food and service in a somewhat protected from the ravages of nature environment, you seriously need to be somewhere else.

Response from Bill Keefe, General Manager at Namale Resort & Spa

Bula Scott, All of us at Namale were saddened to learn via your TripAdvisor post that your stay with us at the Namale Resort & Spa over the recent holiday did not meet your expectations or our consistent, well-documented high standard of guest service and experience. As Travel + Leisure readers’ #1 ranked resort in the South Pacific of 2022, we respect every guest’s personal choice of how they like to experience travel and vacation, and we seek to accommodate those needs and desires during their stay. First, we wish you would have shared any concerns with us while you were at the resort so we could have corrected any areas in which we may have fallen short in your experience. Our goal is always for our guests to have the most enjoyable experience while with us. We do have a record of you calling our reception desk early in your stay when there was a minor issue in your Villa. That record shows that the issue was resolved to your satisfaction in a relatively short period of time. Other than that instance, we can find no record, including guest surveys that are provided to all guests, expressing any of the concerns shared with TripAdvisor while you were with us. While we wish every guest felt they enjoyed a 5-star experience at Namale, 86% (399 of 462) of TripAdvisor posters do rate it a 5-star experience and another 9% (40 of 462) a 4-star experience. We invest heavily in maintaining a 5-star resort experience at Namale, including millions of dollars for capital improvements being invested into the resort in 2023. Namale’s staff, and Fijians themselves, are naturally kind, welcoming people who seek to go above and beyond to ensure guests have a great experience. Typically, Fijians are welcoming, but out of courtesy and cultural norms, they may not start an in-depth conversation with a guest or outsider unless a conversation is started with them. Fiji and Namale Resort & Spa are both spectacular places. It is why Nowdla and I I have have been grateful for the privilege to work here for the past 12 years. We love the wonderful people here, and the majority of our guests do as well. We are truly sorry that you did not have the same experience during your stay. We sincerely wish we had been given the opportunity to turn the trip around for you early in your stay. No one can guarantee perfection 100% of the time. What I can say is that the staff here at Namale is second to none at making something right when given the opportunity. We hope to have the opportunity to serve you again and would welcome the opportunity to speak with you at your convenience.

It's taken me a while to write this review, I didn't want to leave anything out. The Namale Resort is nothing short of amazing. As soon as you arrive, you're instantly treated like family. Every staff member you encounter over your stay will know your name and greet you as such. I'm not really sure how they remember everyone with different arrivals and departures daily, but they do. We arrived very early and our bure wasn't quite ready yet, so we were able to tour the grounds and get acclimated after almost 23 hours of traveling. The resort itself is absolutely beautiful. We opted to do the tour ourselves instead of the guided tour, stopping along the way at the bowling/movie/game building, the basketball courts, the Blowhole and Lovers (Veidomoni) Decks, Namale Spa and the watersports hut. By the time we had lunch, our bure was ready. The 1st 4 nights we were in a Garden bure, as the Honeymoon bures were already full and we wanted to be onsite for our Anniversary. The bure was Lisi (Alice) and it was lovely. The last 3 nights we moved to the Honeymoon bure Totoka (Beautiful) and it was phenomenal. The views alone were worth the move! (small note: our private pool was shaded and quite cold, request a Honeymoon bure with a pool in the sun). We were celebrating our 25th Anniversary, and Namale made it VERY special. Surprise dinners, lunch at the private waterfall, drinks and snacks at the Blowhole deck...you name it, they did it for us. Don't be afraid to ask for a flask of your choice of drink to take with you, they are more than willing to accommodate the request. The food at Namale is unbelievable and is all included. It's like dining in a 5 star restaurant for all of your meals. (note: be sure to try the daily jam/jelly/spread at breakfast each morning) Above everything else, what makes Namale so special is the staff. I'd love to call everyone out by name, but I'm afraid that I'd miss someone. All I can say is VINAKA to you all...... Must do's (in my opinion): Kava Ceremony in the main dining bar area (what time is it? It's Kava time!!). Private Waterfall lunch/dinner- though the waterfall itself is a bit underwhelming, the private lunch/dinner was really nice. Salt River Float (see the watersports hut and check your daily paper for when it is offered, it all depends on water levels)- this is an extra fee. The day trip offered to Savusavu town (watersports hut or your daily paper will advise which days)- no matter who you encounter in town, you are greeted like a family member not a tourist. And most importantly- attend the awesome show that the local villages put on at the Namale. You will not be disappointed! The watersports offered were great, we were able to paddleboard, snorkel (equipment offered down by the hut if you don't bring your own), relax by the pool, hang at the beach, whatever you want to do, they will try to make it happen. If you're expecting a big, sandy beach- keep in mind that Namale is surrounded by coral reef. The reef walks were really cool, and if you're lucky the resident pet dog, Mali, will escort you out onto the reef. She's the best resort pet ever and loves treats. =) In a nutshell- don't hesitate booking at Namale. I can nearly guarantee you'll love it.

Bula! Vinaka for your totoka (beautiful) review of your time with us. We take the idea of vuvale (family) to heart, and with every arrival we see our new family join us, which is why we value getting to know each of you. A split-stay in both a Garden Tropical and Honeymoon Bures truly provided you the best of both worlds, private lush gardens followed by stunning ocean views! Pair that with gourmet meals (and the breakfast jam that we love as much as you), cultural experiences, excursions, and evening entertainment - and then you know you're enjoying every bit of your Fiji experience with us! It was an honor to be the host of your milestone anniversary. We look forward to welcoming you back home to Namale for your next happy occasion.
