Popularly known as the best beach in Savusavu, Sigasiga Sands is not your typical "resort". We have most the amenities of the larger resorts. Yet, it is much more peaceful and private here. The pristine location and convenience to town (15 min drive) exceed most guest expectations. Bus/taxi services easy and affordable. Most guests don't rent a car. Swimming lagoon 5 minute walk down the white sand beach from these beachfront cottages. World class snorkeling a 15-20 min walk out at low tide or snorkel out at high tide through 1m/3' of water. The 116 acre property includes nature trails through virgin forest and creeks. The 17 acre beachfront section with old and young coconut trees amidst colorfully landscaped grounds includes lily ponds like a real Park . Each cottage is decorated uniquely and feels like home. Your nice kitchen is fully equipped. When you're not in the mood to prepare your own meals, enjoy delicious Indo-Fijian Cuisine room service delivered fresh and hot to your cottage. 2 Kayaks and snorkel gears available on site. Sporting activities available at nearby resorts. Panoramic views are spectacular. Resident staff very friendly and attentive when you want them to be. Definitely worth a return trip. Families love it here and romance couples don't even notice them because of the wide open spaces and 3 lounge areas to choose from on the expansive white sand beach that remains even at high tide. Small events with catering services and Longer stay discounts available.

We (2 adults) spent 6 nights here and loved it completely! Seahorse Bure has unrestricted view of beach, is well designed with a great shaded balcony, a very comfortable bed, electricity, fan (air con but we didn't use it), hot water, shower. We understand it was renovated in the past few years and it shows! Great beach, very private, good kayaks, and although the bure has a full kitchen, we often opted for yummy home cooked Indo-Fijian meals through our host (very reasonably priced!). Cannot walk to anything so plan on taxi if you going to town or else rent a vehicle (Budget in SavuSavu was good). Only downside is we did not find the 'house reef' very good here (we were spoiled by others we had visited elsewhere in Fiji). Would definitely return!

We stayed at Sigasiga for 10 days. We chose it because it was a reasonable price, looked comfortable, and was near the dive shop that we were diving with. I would not consider this place a resort. It is basically 3 cottages on a piece of beachfront property. There are no amenities or activities. We stayed in the Vonu bure, which had a separate kitchen and lounge area. The bed was very comfortable, as it has a memory foam topper on it. The lounge has a metal futon and a small desk. We appreciated having some seating. The bure has an air conditioner, but when we arrived we were told it's not working. That was mostly fine because there is a powerful fan in the bedroom. The kitchen was pretty well equipped, but some of the items there were in need of replacement. The knives were so dull they barely cut vegetables. We appreciated the few staples there like salt, pepper, and sugar, as well as the ice cube trays in the freezer. (The water is safe to drink) The fan in the kitchen was broken and it got quite hot in there while cooking. The bathroom was good except the shower mixer did not really mix. We either had scalding hot water or freezing cold water. The wifi worked reasonably well. Sometimes it only worked in the bedroom, and sometimes not at all. But we appreciated having it. The caretakers Subash and Sunita were very friendly and helpful. They responded to all our requests and stopped by a few times to check on us. Their dog Tuktuk was a regular presence on our porch and we loved it. The challenge for us staying here was the isolated location, and the food. We expected to eat the food available there, but we did not care for the Indian flavors. The western food was not good (extremely well done eggs, pancakes with a teaspoon of syrup). Also, because the food is delivered to you, it is what it is. You can't get more of something or whatever. We realized that we prefer a restaurant where we can smell and see the food before we order it, and have someone there if we need anything else. Also, you can't just order food when you are hungry. There are set meal times, and you order in advance. Sigasiga is about 20 mins from town by taxi. The taxies all come from there so you need to plan ahead to go to town. There are a few restaurants there. There is nothing at all in the area of the resort. The beach is nice to walk at low tide, and the swimming spot is great. We asked about the hiking/walking trails. There is only one and it's very short. There is nothing else to do there. There are not even comfy lounge chairs. There was one hammock, but it was very close to another bure and it seemed it would be an intrusion to use it. There was a book of activities, but we found that it was quite out-of-date. Phone numbers were incorrect, or the business no longer existed. One highlight was the massage by Geeta. We went to the nearby Koro Sun Resort for massages and she was fantastic. It also allowed us to hang out there afterwards. Overall Sigasiga was peaceful and very quiet, and the bure was comfortable. We wished for a few more comfort items like more than 2 pillows, more bath towels, pillows on the couch, more comfortable outdoor chairs, and a working fan in the kitchen. Also some games would be great. I think to call it a resort, it should have more amenities or activities provided for guests. If we return to Savusavu, I think we would stay somewhere closer to town next time.

Finally achieving fully booked statue after two years this place feels like Ohana. When we checked in there was a connectivity issue with the Wi-Fi but owner Gene corrected it immediately. We booked the Vonu cabin - bedroom, living room, kitchen and shower, with A/C. Ample kitchen appliances, we cooked all our own meals. On site staff Subash and Sunita were anxious to be of service. This property has been in Gene's able caring hands for 12 years and the grounds show his love. Each unit is distinctive and not in view of other units. The coral reef offers cool tidepool action and snorkeling opportunities. Very restful week.

This is one of the best places I have stayed in Fiji, and I have been to Fiji many times for work and vacation. I had moderate expectations on arriving (I was on a work trip to Savusavu), and I had originally only planned to stay for a few nights during a business trip. I ended up booking through the weekend as well, given Sigasiga has some of the best snorkeling, from a gorgeous cottage, on one of the most beautiful beaches in Fiji. What more can I say? If you have your own snorkel gear, and a reasonable amount of experience in the water, this place is perfect. You can walk to the reef on the low tide (and could probably swim on a high tide, though would be a long swim!) Because the reef has an inner and outer portion, with a lagoon between, the snorkeling was relatively protected, even though the weather wasn’t perfect during the time I was there (weather is rarely good in December). In fact, that is one of the reasons why this place is so great. I have stayed at expensive resorts on Kadavu or Taveuni that had nice housereefs, but that were much more exposed in rough weather. I was able to enjoy this reef even in rainy, windy conditions, and it was exceptionally good! Even children (ages 7+) could easily snorkel this reef, though would need to have adventurous parents as it is a long walk over uneven coral and a deep lagoon (but great for pelagics and reef sharks as a result). I did go on a daytrip to Namena for a bit of variety, but the reef here is just as good - with no cost or long boat trip required. I stayed in the Seahorse cabin, which is the nicest and newest, but has only one bed (best for a single or couple). The other cabins, which are part of the original plantation, are older and set back from the ocean, but are perfect for families with loft space and second bedrooms. It isn’t a luxury resort (self-catering) and you will get the usual ants and cockroaches that come with life in the tropics. The power and internet also worked only sporadically (life in Fiji) and the backup generator was out of commission so I had no power for several of the days I was there, and never managed to get good internet in my cabin. But who cares? The place was great for independent minded traevellers, the caretakers are lovely and will make amazing Indian food for a reasonable price if you don’t feel like cooking. So if you aren’t looking for a full-service resort, and like a bit of seclusion and privacy, this place has it all… I will be back (don't like resorts and this was so much better!)

My husband and I visited Sigasiga sands as part of our trip exploring Fiji. I am so glad we picked Sigasiga for our accommodation! We were both blown away by the amount of beach and property we had available to us and the other couple that were staying. I seriously felt like "Is this for real??" If you want a place with an absolutely gorgeous beach practically to yourself this is the place to go. We were also very thankful for Gene's warm hospitality and willingness to show us around town and assistance with planning. Subash and Sunita provided absolutely amazing dishes and were always so kind and friendly. We miss it already!

It's especially gratifying when people, like yourselves, find Sigasiga as lovely as we do. :-) We can only hope that you will return soon so we can continue to build our friendships. We plan to be here for many decades to come. All our best! Gene

We like to research accommodations a lot online. It’s a jungle out there! We are so grateful we found Sigasiga! It to be the most amazing place to relax and learn about the Fijian culture. The wide open spaces, the privacy and the beautiful white sand beach is very inviting at any time of day or night. They have a wonderful caretaker family that lives on the other side of this huge property that was always available for anything we wanted or needed. All we had to do was ask. The cottage is keep very clean and the Manager thinks of everything when it comes to the amenities and activities. The beds and pillows are super comfortable. We don’t normally watch much TV, but on a rainy day it was great to have the DVD library available to enjoy on the wall mounted flat screen with no charge. The hiking trails going up through the forest reserve are beautiful too. Sunita, the housekeeper is always available for anything. She even cleaned our muddy shoes. The SigaSiga Menu with room service is so delicious. They don’t cook meat on Tuesdays or Fridays but that is just an example of how you really get to feel the culture here. There is no swimming pool yet but the natural ocean swimming lagoon only takes 5 mins walking down the beach to get to. SigaSiga Sands has almost everything the big “resorts” have but without the hustle-bustle, noise or distractions. We loved the very consistent ocean breezes and for many days we just wanted to stay home on the plantation. We’ve done a lot of snorkeling around the world. It’s important to be careful of the ocean conditions. But on the good days, snorkeling in front of SigaSiga is spectacular! I found it easy to get in and out of the lagoon and the walk out at low tide is fun, too! I haven’t scuba dived yet but I understand this is a great place to get certified and there’s two dive companies nearby with free shuttle service. When we wanted to go to Savusavu town, we just called a taxi on the cottage landline phone for free and the taxi came very quickly. Hanging out at the Copra Shed Marina outdoor garden is cool. We enjoyed meeting residents and yachties from around the world. I didn’t even know what you call a sailor on a yacht until now. hehe Our other favorite restaurants are Grace Road Kitchen and Surf ‘N Turf. The town is full of amazingly friendly people. If their smiles weren’t so genuine someone coming from the city might feel suspicious of their motives. But these people just want to make friends. We were even invited to dinner by people we just met! We heard of other tourists that have been invited to churche by locals. There’s a surprisingly lot of things to do here but they’re not easy to find online. Just ask around and you can learn about things to do like the cocao chocolate farm tour, waterfalls swimming, copra factory, fishing and sailing charters, hiking/nature tours and other snorkel spots and various community events. We were so glad we stayed 3 weeks here instead of jumping all around at different places cuz we learned a lot about the locals We look forward to returning to SigaSiga Sands soon. We can’t think of a nicer place to stay in Savusavu. It really felt like home. Oh, and everyone seems to know Gene the manager. He’s got a very good reputation and will take good care of you.

We stayed at the Coco Bure and found it very accommodating. We did not find any bugs to complain about. The detached kitchen is a Fiji standard and was more than adequate to prepare a gourmet meal. If you are into cooking your own food, there is an outstanding fish monger in Savusavu. If you want good wine and cheese, Sally's (It is now Jing Jing's) is right across from the fish market (and laundry), with Grace Road next door for fresh organic vegetables. I cannot understand the complaints about the food. I thought the Curry and roti I had to be the best in all of Savusavu (I've been nearly everywhere in town). If you want something different, then Koro Sun, just down the road occasionally serves a great Mongolian BBQ, or you can go another 5 minutes and find Vaga Vaga for Pizza. If you want privacy, it would be impossible to match what Siga Siga Sands provides anywhere else. The "lagoon" is a long walk at low tide, but very much worth it. Coral shaped like huge smurf houses and sometimes several large groupers. In any case, lots of fish. Make sure you have sturdy sandals to get out to "the wall" of the lagoon and pay close attention to the tide unless you figure out a way of tying them to you so you can get out anywhere. I'd return to Siga Siga Sands. Great Place to hang out, and a great "base camp" to see the rest of this island.

Bula John! Thanks so much for giving us the opportunity to host you and for taking the time to share your Sigasiga experience. The "detached kitchen" has now been completely demolished. The Coco Cottage now has a much larger modern kitchen attached and level with the living room. A great excuse to visit again, right? hehe ;-) Hope to see you again soon. We enjoyed your visit. We stayed in the Coco hut/little house and loved it. Private, comfortable, with great view of the beach and surrounding landscaped gardens, lots of papaya trees around that supplied us with out breakfast food and snack. We stayed here for the Wellness and Wealth portion of Mastery university and it is only 5 min and 5 Fijian dollars from the conference center. Originally found this place because all the rooms at the conference center were booked but we are really happy that it happened this way- out stay was very comfortable, private, right on the beach and still close to the event. Gene is very welcoming host, gave us lots of information and even a few rides around in the beginning. Groundskeeper family is sweet and we were able to arrange rides and excursion with the at the reasonable price and they have been very reliable. Sunita is a great cook, her vegetarian dishes were tasty and agreed with the dietary regime we were kept on during the TR event.

Bula Toothale! So happy you discovered us. No other accommodation is closer to Wasawasa Mastery headquarters than we are. Mastery guests can walk 10 min along beach and 10 more on road to Wasawasa. Or, we have 2 bicycles available that shorten the trip closer to 7-8 min. There's also taxi and shuttle service available for FJD5 each way any time you need it. We're so happy you enjoyed your stay and were able to stay on a few extra days to enjoy the swimming lagoon, forest reserve hiking trails and other activities. See you next time! Cheers! Gene
