My rating of "average" means nothing, since the lodge was severely damaged in February by Cyclone Winston. Villagers are repairing it and hope it will be ready by the end of August, 2016. I stayed with a local family as a paying guest in VERY basic accommodations, with no water, but plenty of mosquitoes. I ate with them (only rice... More

our visit to the lodge was not as what we had expected but it was more of an island life experience where by the rooms had just bare floor, beach front just by the door step from the back porch and window rooms. The locals are very helpful but it is important that you prepare well before visiting the lodge and... More

Although the lodge is a little bit basic. The people of Lavena as well as the incredible location sure make up for it. The last time I was there I went to sleep listening to the people of the village sing beautiful songs. The beach outside the lodge is picture postcard and the walk to the falls is breathtaking. This... More

The rooms are very basic. Shared bathroom. There is a communal kitchen, which is good to cook basic food - make sure you bring all your food with you from the Matai as there is not really a shop in Lavena. But for dinner you can ask at the lodge and they will arrange for someone in the village to... More

First let me say that I read all the Trip Advisor reviews and my guidebook's blurb on this place before booking. I knew it was... rustic. But it ended up being much closer to the camping end of the spectrum than I had anticipated. The good: -Perfect location to do the Lavena Coastal Walk and the Bouma waterfall hike both... More

This is a sparser place, but it is the only place in Lavena and the village runs it. You can get them to cook for you the first night, but they prefer people bring their own food for the rest of the time. The reason to stay there is its location right on the beach and the beautiful walk to... More

My partner and I had a wonderful four nights here. This is a village run hostel, with shared cold water showers (though each room has its own sink) and a well equipped kitched for self catering. Electricity is sporadic, so food needs to be non-refrigerable. Alternatively meals are available for $10 each. The women in the village take turns being... More

This place is definitely not luxury, and is more like a backpacker budget place. However, I would recommend it if you really want to experience the genuine Fiji spirit, smack in the middle of the village. The lodge provides very simple rooms with shared bathroom and kitchen facilities, and a common area where you can meet many of the local... More

Although getting to Lavena was not perfectly straightforward on public transport, it was well worth it (and if your bus only goes to Bouma, there are the Tavoro Waterfalls or the Rainforest walk that you can do while you wait for transport to Lavena). The lodge is communal in a variety of senses. There are shared facilities, which means you... More

We stayed in lavena 2 times in total for a week overall and found it absolutely amazing. The place is the ideal spot for relaxing and getting away from everything whilst your travelling. The beach is directly outside the door and you have the beach all to yourself. The lavena coastal walk starts here and it's free if you stay... More
