Detailed Reviews
I have stayed at the Cashelmara Inn on several occasions when visiting Avon for weddings/ family functions. The rooms that I have stayed in where very unique and comfortable. Since the Inn is a B&B, a breakfast of your choice is offered with the lodging. In the summer, breakfast is offered on the front porch. The Inn is located directly across from the beach and within a short walk of many fine dining choices (casual and fine dining restaurants). A great alternative to a "soul-less" big box hotel chain.

We stayed at this inn with our adult daughter for a family event. We had one of the larger rooms with 2 queen beds. While the inn is full of antiques and that is not really our thing, the room was very clean and comfortable. The staff, Mary and Marina, couldn’t be more helpful and friendly. One of the benefits of staying at this inn was the delicious free breakfast. They have a full menu to choose from. The chef, sorry but didn’t get her name, made the most delicious fresh and warm muffins. Today’s muffin was cherry and it had an amazing center of warm cherries. Yum. My blueberry pancakes were loaded with juicy blueberries. Can’t say enough about the breakfast. Also, the inn faces a lake and is only a few steps away from the beach. We would definitely stay there again, however I noticed the price goes up quite a bit during the summer months due to the proximity to the beach.

It was a last minute trip for a weekend getaway. From navigating the website to the departure the following day, this was absolutely the perfect spot. The staff, Leo and company were extremely knowledgeable and accommodating to all of our needs and beyond. The rooms were clean and fashionably decorated with old world charm. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have slept in offered by any Inn or Hotel. The breakfast was exceptional and even took home a dozen home made muffins made perfectly. Will revisit again!

Although there is no doubt about the welcoming charm as one pulls up to the Inn, this is not the place to stay if you are over 5’4” and planning to ready for a special formal occasion. The bathrooms are VERY small and dated. The ceilings are sloped and the rooms are so small and tightly packed with necessary furniture that they are a difficult navigation. We both hit our heads hard and multiple times just trying to navigate around the room. Our first intended room had a soiled and stained toilet (photo not included) and we were informed there had been some plumbing issues and that perhaps other guests had used the facilities in our room. This fact made it clear the room had not been inspected or properly cleaned prior to our arrival and we were very shocked. We were offered another room. This room had one window and did not have a window unit AC. The room had no chair or place to sit unless we piled our belongings on the bed and sat on a small chest. The day we arrived the weather was breezy and cool for September. The following afternoon the third floor was hot and the ceiling fan was useless in a tiny room with a closed door. There were other larger rooms empty the entirety of our stay, but we were not offered those. The bathroom in the second room had missing cabinetry, no counter space and was not much cleaner. The mirror was hung so low I could only see half of my head. There is no way to back up unless one knocks down drywall. It was the smallest bathroom I have ever had to use - a space less accommodating than a portable and a shower so small ones limbs must be in and out of the shower liner just to wash up. If you’re looking to spend a lot for a little - which has its place - this is a beautiful spot. If you need to get ready for a wedding, have driven (7) hours and are in town for a formal occasion, stick with a traditional hotel, bathroom counters, water pressure and AC. Were we not pressed for time,
we would have asked for a refund and stayed someplace else. The first floor, dining and service were excellent. Simple updates to bathrooms and a few modern conveniences would go a very long way in making the entire experience befitting a stay in Avon by the Sea.

We stayed for a friend’s wedding a few blocks away. The location drove our decision to stay. Where do I start? Our room was old, tired, needs an updated bathroom, new carpeting, new everything. We paid the same price in Lyon, France for the Intercontinental Hotel, which was awesome! If you are going to charge these prices, you have to provide accommodations that match that. The worst part is this is off season pricing, and their in season pricing is much higher. I really hope they do some badly needed renovations.

We stayed last summer. Be aware that if you choose an inexpensive room, they are TINY! Also, we stayed because we heard about there movie theatre that they advertise. We were not told they had it closed. They claim the reason to be COVID. BUT, the room was full of all kinds of things from the inn. Also things were stored outside our room in disarray. Just beware before you book. The breakfast was very good and plenty of food.

What a great find! Lovely inn, wonderful customer service, delicious breakfast. Quiet but close as you can get to the boardwalk. Many rooms have lake and/or ocean views. Walking distance to many great restaurants as well. Highly recommend for a couples get away.

Me and my new wife stayed here for our wedding weekend. Our venue was in Neptune so this was a perfect spot for us (Close to both the ocean and our venue). Our room was very clean and had a GREAT view of the ocean. The only downside was that the shower was VERY small and the sink had a slow drip, but neither of these things took away from our weekend. The staff and the breakfast were amazing both days. They made sure we were taken care of. They made our stay extra special.

Save your money. We were there for a mini honeymoon. With Dopey and Grumpy running the Inn it is a terrible place to stay. While the Inn itself is beautiful, Mary (Dopey) and her sister (Grumpy) set the tone and it is an overall unfriendly place to stay. Unless of course you are a regular. But, how could you ever become a regular in such and unfriendly atmosphere. Mary is nice and does a good overall job. Her sister is in one word a B****! Go to Spring Lake. Beautiful B&Bs there that are being run and managed by the owner. Makes a HUGE difference. Will never go again.

Have come here many times, didn't know this was on TA. Mary is very welcoming and accommodating. We love the Leo, the Golden Retriever. From North Jersey, it is very easy to get to and is perfect for a long weekend or week. Breakfasts are always cooked to order and very good. We have been going for at least ten years and have stayed in many of the rooms. All have been fine. I would not call it a party place, if that is what you are looking for.
