I have just spent a week her at the mercato with my 20 year old son. We have had a wonderful time staying here. On arrival we were upgraded to a deluxe room overlooking the pool. The room and beds were very comfortable. I have to mention the man who came in every day to service our room. We came back to our room each day to a lovely surprise of a different artistic towel arrangement. The food was plentiful and varied. Drinks available from lobby all day and also from rooftop bar. One evening we ate a delicious seafood meal in the rooftop restaurant which was great value for money for the small additional payment. The next day one of the managers delivered a large plate of fresh fruit to our room. We also experienced the spa and spent a relaxing day being pampered with full body scrubs and massage. During our stay we went on an excursion to Cairo. This was the experience of a lifetime . The hotel offered to provide us with breakfast boxes as we were being picked up early for the trip.
I would highly recommend this lovely hotel with the most attentive and friendly staff . We would love to return again in the future. Thank you for making our holiday so special.

Stayed here for two weeks during my last diving trip to Sharm. The hotel is centrally located and quite away from the busy areas which was a plus for me. The hotel rooms are large, well fitted and however dated, it is very well maintained, clean and always tidy thanks to the attentive housekeeping team. Hotel management and reception staff are very friendly and attentive as well. Food quality and overall service is reasonable. Hotel facilities are very well maintained and preserved. The hotel is a walking distance to restaurants, cafes and shops.
Areas require improvement: coffee bar staff at the reception needs to be more friendly with the guests, they always looked demotivated.
Meal coupons must be collected from the reception before each meal, that makes it feel like a campus canteen, i'm sure there's a better way of doing that.
Beach Towel must be collected from the central pool side, if I'm staying at the far end of the hotel I need to go all the way to the central pool everyday to exchange the beach towel, this process as well could be very much simplified and made easier for the guest.
Overall had a pleasant stay and was happy with the service provided.

Dear Mr. Ahmad Thank you for choosing the IL Mercato Hotel & Spa and for taking a part of your valuable time to post your review. We are glad that you had pleasant stay and you were satisfied with service . The meal coupons this is one of the precaution for Covid 19 in order to control the amount of the guests in the restaurant. The location of towel desk is changed, now it is located near the pool behind the reception. However we apologize for any inconvenience that may have been caused during your stay and we are looking forward to welcoming you at IL Mercato Hotel & Spa in order to let you enjoy a new memorable holiday. Yours truly, IL Mercato Hotel & Spa Team

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveler reviews.
I have been travelling to Sharm for many years (twice a year) and I usually stay at Il Mercato - Sharm has suffered terribly with the after affects of the direct flights being stopped and then covid so to have been able to return in Nov and then recently in May after a couple of years away was great. In Nov I would say the hotel was a bit lacking in service & the rooms tired / in need of care - but to be honest I would have expected that having been closed for such a while. It was lovely to see when I went back recently in May that things are improving, the food was getting more varied, the rooms better and more staff (always helpful and cheery). They made a huge effort to decorate my room when they spotted a birthday card in it and you cannot fault the cleaners. Its a great location and plenty of handy restaurants around. Not many of the shops are back open in the Il Mercato Centre yet but it is still nice to walk through and you have Naama Bay and Old Market a short taxi ride away. The pool and sunbeds are well maintained and you have a choice of pools - a quiet one , one with 'entertainment' or ones with a bit more shade inside (but open air).
The more we return the better they become.
They happily moved our rooms so my friend and I could be next to each other. I am booking again for September and can't wait to go back.

Il Mercato hotel and spa was in fact not a 5 star hotel we were informed by one of the staff members it was in fact a 2 star hotel. During the whole of the second week they had reservations all over the hotel and the complete lack of Health and safety followed while the the renovations took place was appalling with slip hazard everywhere and equipment left out. Also they decided that we could not have a superior room as we had booked this because they would charge you an extra £10 a day . The food was constantly making guests and myself Ill and resulted in lost time as we would have to stay in the room for days in end there was also nothing outside of the hotel like advised on the love holidays website instead there was 4 shops and all the paths were half dug up meaning if u needed to cross the road you would have to jump over this. The pool became so dirty at one point during our stay that had became white and there was bird poo and rubbish surrounding it.Another, annoying parts of this holiday is that there was no snack bar meaning we had to go out and buy food to make sure we were eating as when asking the staff they would just laugh and say that there never was any snack bars also the ice creams were for an extra charge and so to were some drinks which does not make me think we got the all inclusive holiday that we had booked. We stayed in room 1211 and the cleanliness was simply not there so I had to go around my room and clean as the tables were all sticky and the shower had mould at the bottom of it.I will definitely not be returning.

This was obviously a good hotel in its time. Now its tired and in need of tlc.
Bed was comfortable. We only stayed b & b after reading recent reviews and were glad we didn't go all inclusive.
We were out of the hotel scuba diving for most of the holiday so the hotel was adequate though I am unsure if we would stay again.
Our room was cleaned to Egyptian standards so OK if you didn't look too closely. Unfortunately even basics like toilet roll weren't always provided and we had to ask for clean towels and water on occasion.
We used the spa which was OK but again was lacking in customer service. We booked a massage package but my 2nd massage was very half hearted and the girl who did my massage even said she hated her job to me and kept leaving the room.
Many people from the UK were unhappy with the hotel while we were there

We stayed at Il Mercato for sixteen days. I cannot recommend it enough, the staff are lovely, very helpful, friendly and patient.
The hotel is very clean, comfortable and safe. The bedroom was a good size with a nice balcony, comfortable beds and good a/c. The housekeeping staff do an excellent job as well as constructing entertaining towel sculptures.
The food is excellent with plenty of fresh fruit and salads in addition to the hot dishes. Great breakfast omlettes, pastry and cake selection and breads. The restaurant staff are very attentive and helpful.
There are four pools two of which are on the roof, one of these is child free and quiet and the other has activities (stretching, yoga, aquaerobics, darts) organised by the entertainment team.
The entertainment team are excellent, enthusiastic, approachable and charming. They speak several languages and include everyone in everything. There is a show each evening on the roof.
The bars have a good selection of alcoholic and soft drinks and cocktails. The bar staff are welcoming and fun.
We took several trips organised by Mohammad all of which (desert quad bikes+camel ride+star gazing+bedouin show, glass bottom boat, and sealife show) were great and good value. Mohammad is very helpful and friendly.
The hotel runs a shuttle bus to two beaches both of which have snorkeling and diving facilities. We went to Il Palma beach where, having no experience of snorkeling we were assisted by a lifeguard, Saeed, without whom we would have missed an amazing opportunity and I cannot thank him enough.
We were able to walk down to the old market from the hotel and got a taxi back.
Taxis are not expensive, but fix the price in advance. The hotel staff will tell you what the price should be.
Sterling, euros and US dollars are accepted everywhere as well as the local currency.
People have said that the area around the hotel is very quiet with empty shops. It is early in the season and the industry is still recovering from Covid. Lots of places are easily reached by taxi and there are excellent organised trips.
The reception staff are happy to advise about anything (in several languages) and do a fantastic job.
We will definitely be returning to this hotel.

Last minute break in the Sun. I assume this place is better in-season but i didnt notice a lack of staff, more a lack of skill or care. id rate this equivalent to a 2* hotel in the UK. Cleanliness below average, towels not clean, drains smelled, Food very repetitive and usually overcooked, room safe broke, patio door didnt lock, free drinks quite poor - fruit juices are from powder, cocktails made with local window cleaning fluid, you have to pay for basic drinkable drinks (coke, drinkable beer, etc). staff food hygiene dodgy. one lift (of two) was not working. a la carte menu not available. None of the pools were heated. Decor tired looking. Wifi coverage sketchy away from lobby and none at all by the pools or gym. Lots of staff speak Russian, few staff speak English. Reception is not staffed until 9am! No toiletries at reception (to purchase or free). Staff generally try their best but are clearly not trained or managed well, which is a pity because this could easily be a 4* hotel. Spa treatment costs comparable to UK which was surprising.

I rested at the IL Mercato hotel with my husband. We took a tour for 9 nights. There were only pleasant impressions about the hotel. The room was standard, family. The room is spacious and bright. There is everything you need: fridge, kettle, hair dryer. There was always water per person 1.5 liters per day. The room is clean. Cleaned up every day. Bed linen and towels are clean. Changed every other day. The staff is very polite and responsive. The food in the restaurant is just amazing! The choice of dishes is huge: meat, fish, chicken, a lot of vegetables, salads, fruits. A variety of pastries, sweets. Everything is always fresh and very tasty. Many thanks to the chef and all the staff of the restaurant! There is a swimming pool on the roof of the hotel. The view from the roof is amazing.i
There is a bus from the hotel to the beach. But you can walk for 10 minutes. We walked several times. The sandy beach is free. Beach coral paid -5 dollars per person. I liked the coral beach more. It was possible to go from the shore, where it is not deep, or from the bridge, where it is deeper. We swam every day, watched the fish in masks, in general, we had a very good rest.
Many thanks to all the hotel staff!
Special thanks to the receptionist Diana for her responsiveness and goodwill! We plan to visit this hotel again in the spring. See you !

Just came back from this hotel. Really loved the place! It was very welcoming and the staff at the hotel were extremely nice and attentive. When one of the bar staff noticed my brother was struggling with mosquito bites, he actually sprayed him down to prevent the mosquitoes from biting him so much.
Not only were the staff at the hotel so helpful, the taxi drivers were amazing too. My brother left his phone on the seat when he got out, the taxi driver immediately told him that he’d left his phone and made sure my brother got it back. On the last day when we were getting into our taxi to go to the airport, I left my bag at the hotel. One of the bar staff noticed and was actually coming out to let me know I had left it. And since I am so forgetful, I actually walked around the shops with my bag unzipped but nothing was ever touched.
They had entertainment every night on the roof and some nights it was different shows, such as a fire show, belly dancing/salsa to an Arabian nights show. They also had in house entertainment who were always there.
The other thing about the hotel was the excursion staff. We ended up booking our excursions through Mohamed Mahmoud, who’s part of the International Dive College. He was very kind and attentive. He took us to and from certain excursions, always made sure we were good and would talk to us whenever he could to make sure we were having a good time. He gave us advice on where to go and what to see. Felt like having another member of the family there. We booked multiple excursions through Mohamed and each one was great! Definitely recommend him for any excursions in Sharm El Sheikh.
Il Mercato Hotel and Spa also had access to the local beach. They had drivers who would drive you to and from the beach starting from 9:00am till 4:45pm with pickups every 15 minutes. However, if you wanted to stay longer, the beach was only a 10-15 minute walk back to the hotel. The old market was also nearby and if you chose to walk it there, it only takes about 15-20 minutes.
The only issue we had was that one of my brothers had a problem with one of the bedsheets having lint on it (only one night) and another found blonde hair on his towel (none of us are blonde), but other than that, the hotel was clean and the rooms were refreshed and restocked every morning with a water bottle for each person staying in the room. Everyone was very nice, from the reception staff to the house keeping staff and the restaurant/bar staff. I truly do miss it. They actually went out their way to make us a third bed when they realised there was three of us and only two beds.
We booked all inclusive and it was nice to have access to everything. I truly do recommend the hotel and if I was ever blessed enough to have another chance to come to Sharm El Sheikh, I would stay at Il Mercato ❤️

We returned to this hotel for our annual holiday having been here a few times before.
On the whole, it is very good value for money. The rooms are large and clean, the 4 pools are great and there is plenty of choice with the food.
We arrived late evening but by the following day we had dressing gowns put in the room along with a plate of fruit, chopped nuts and some pastries. For a week we had some wonderful towel creations. These stopped after the 1st week but the room was cleaned daily along with clean towels and given plenty of bottled water. Toiletries were refreshed weekly.
Children are well catered for and my grandson was offered all sorts of different food if he didn't see anything in the main buffet. Children are allowed in 3 of the 4 pools and they all have shallow areas.
There were a couple of times towards the end of the holiday that the lunch buffet didn't appeal to us but the restaurant manager (Mahmoud) did offer us different food. He is the absolute star of the restaurant and nothing was ever too much for him. Each evening is a different theme with the grill. The beef and beef burgers were absolutely amazing. There are salads, breads, rice, potatoes, fruit, 2 soups, a pasta station and desserts available for every meal. For breakfast the chefs would cook any sort of egg you wanted in addition to the quite extensive offerings already available.
The staff were eager to please and happily engaged with everyone especially children.
The management team were very visible and again, nothing was ever too much trouble. They actively seek feedback and will act immediately if necessary
If there was a downside to the holiday it would be that the fabric of the hotel probably needs renovating. It wasn't awful (actually kept very clean) but the hotel is starting to show its age.
I won't hesitate to return again next year
