Firstly it is a very friendly place that we received welcoming drinks right after we entered the reception. Very friendly staff and easy going manager (Mr. Mohamed) that will help you get the best deal and make sure that he brings everything you will need for your stay. Rooms are very clean and warm in winter. They can prepare a certain meal for you. You will find a portfolio when you enter your room that has all the informations and services that they have. You can grab a wine bottle from the bar at a very low price (350 LE) and for beer (50 LE). Full privacy, bring some snacks with you and some board games for nights. Parking place is perfect. Breakfast is fine. Wifi is fine in the morning.

Inadmissible! I booked their stay. I booked a taxi departure date at the monastery. They informed me that they were wrong and that they had no free space. I have been traveling so far I have organized my trip properly but unfortunately people are unacceptable

What I didn't like The water was not there all of the time The AC sound is loud No TV No pool Food is tasty but takes a lot of time to be prepared No guests at all Nothing to do at night Cockroaches Limited hotels are there and all old, it seems this hotel can be considered the second best choose, Catherine Plaza hotels seems to be better from outside. Tour leaders were fighting The road between Nuweiba and Catherine is still under construction, you can take it and will be finished soon. What I liked The cathedral at Saint Catherine Climbing the mountain by camels It's an OK choice for a one night stay or max 2 They had a nice bed net for mosquitoes

This review is to help others choose a better hotel in this location since there are limited choices in St. Catherine. Most reviews were old and now I would like to update every one. I don’t think I have much to say about this hotel except to choose another hotel if you are in the neighborhood. We had 3 cabins, for me and my husband, my friend and our driver, all our cabins have the same issue. The toilet and plumbing has a problem – I’ll leave it with that. The hotel prepared our dinner when we checked-in at 7:30 PM, food were served at 9 PM which we appreciated since there was no-other place to eat nearby and after the 7-hours car trip from Cairo without breaks, we were too tired to find a better place to eat. Please check your bills in details since we were almost charged double in our room but when I showed my booking they honored what was pre-booked price. After eating dinner in this hotel we did not bother to eat breakfast next morning after our climb to Mt. Sinai so I cannot comment on breakfast. The cabin style rooms would have been a good option than hotel high-rise, the cabins looks good in photos from the outside until you use the bathroom; the plumbing problem makes this hotel NOT acceptable to guests. Will I stay here again? Never!

I visited in 1999. I was promised cockroaches but disappointed never to see one. Our coach party arrived very late at night and we expected snacks. The lovely manager welcomed us in to a fully cooked dinner and gorgeous desserts. Our room was basic which suited us...we were only sleeping there. I was bitten by a mosquito as I slept....never had bites like it. In the morning we could see the surrounding scenery...I was amazed how beautiful it was. At night the sky was so clear and I had never seen so many stars....wish there was a telescope. We made to feel very welcome and would return.

I stayed at the Daniela for a night with my school (23 other students). We arrived from Sharm el Sheik tired and were overwhelmed by the hospitality of the staff. They had prepared an incredible banquet for us, more food than we could possibly eat including desserts. Staff spoke English quite well and were friendly and welcoming. The rooms were lovely, air conditioned and comfortable, average bathroom, but it did the job for the night. Located just minutes from Mt Sinai. Next time I hike Mt Sinai, I will definitely be staying here. Thank you.

Visited this hotel for one night after climbing Mount Sinai as wanted somewhere to stay before visiting St Catherine's Monastery the next day. The tour company suggested staying at Morganland but due to poor reviews on this site I asked to stay at Daniela as the reviews were good. What a terrible mistake!! We had booked a suite as there were 3 of us. initially we were shown a small room with just enough space for 3 beds. Then we were shown 'the suite'. Whilst it did comprise of 2 rooms with a double bed in one and a single in the other it was filthy, the bed had broken , there were bits of fallen plaster all over the beds and floor and no heat. we were assured it would be prepared by the time we had walked up the mountain and back. On our return it had been cleaned but there was the smell of damp and plaster dust everywhere and no heating. It gets very cold in the Sinai desert at night. The large radiator had bare wires with no plugon the end and the 2 ancient heating units produced just cold air. There was mold and peeling plaster on the walls and ceilings. We went for dinner to find we were the only guests. the dining room floor was filthy and the cloths on tables dirty. 2 men acted as waiters, both kept their anoraks on throughout as it was freezing!! The food was actually very nice and there was wine. We returned to our room. All 3 of us slept in one bed fully clothed as it was so cold. They did bring an electric oil heater for us but it was next to useless. In the morning there was no hot water for the ancient shower and the toilet blocked. We had a solitary breakfast in the freezing dining room again waited on by men in coats. the food was again surprisingly good. We were grateful to leave and I cannot believe the people who have written previous reviews could possibly have stayed at the same place however the photographs of the small chalets confirm it is the same place. Our guide stayed with us. He works for Memphis tours and has stayed at Morganland and the Monastery guest house both of which are much better. He was embarrassed that we had experienced such poor quality in his country.

My wife and I stayed one night at this hotel on the 15 January 2013, res no. 22510-26463686. This is a nice hotel by Egyptian standards and is a comfortable place to put your head down before you go up Mt Sinai early in the morning. All Egyptian hosts are friendly so I'll say no more about that. A nice stone unit for my wife and I and it was very cean and tidy with all the basic facilities you should expect. It had a heater and airconditioner and believe it or not a mosquito net that is needed in winter. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom of a decent size. The shower was hot but they still suffer from the usual Egyptian problem, how to control the water after it leaves the shower spout. It gets all over the floor and the shower curtain seems only an after thought, however, I have become use to this situation in Egyptian hotels in my travels around Africa and the Middle East. The food at the restaurant was very good but the table hygiene could be much better for the rave reviews they get. I was disappointed that you are not given a choice to choose from for lunch or dinner, it was just served. I also thought a little expensive considering the restaurant is in need of renovation and presentation. The manager arranged a guide and a breakfast box for the climb up Mt Sinai and gave us a call so we could be ready to go on time. Overal this place is a good place to stay the night but a little renovation and attention to detail could make this hotel a top place and truly justify its bed price that is a little high for budget level facilities. I don't want this review to put anyone off staying at this hotel as it is quite good by Egyptian standards and you will enjoy a comfortable stay.

I stayed two nights at this hotel on October 2012. It seemed to me that I was the only guest at the time. Since my arrival the manager was extremely nice and friendly. I felt very welcomed and it was kind of like staying at a relative's home. He arranged a driver to take me at 2 am to mount Sinai one day and then he arranged for my transfer to Taba the next day. All at a very reasonable price. My room was spacious and clean. The food served at their restaurant was cheap, plentiful and tasty. The manager even let me borrow the computer in his office to check my e mail and one afternoon we sat down for a nice leisured conversation over Bedouin tea. Can anybody ask for more?

Daniela Hotel is postcard lovely. My family of four had two large rooms which were like little stone chalets with two rooms in each making a little village. There was heating/cooling in each room and mosquito nets over each bed which we were advised to use even in winter. We had three meals there – lunch, dinner then breakfast – and each meal was tasty and laid out buffet style for us to help ourselves. There were different and varied foods to try. Alcohol is available. The showers are the hose type (very common throughout Egypt) and ours sagged which meant you had to get close to the wall to use it or else hold it. Overall we thought Daniela was a lovely hotel to stay at if you’re visiting Mt Sinai and St Katherine's Monastery.
