I signed up to volunteer for their sustainable farming programs for two weeks and was surprised to find that I'd be staying at a lodge right on the beach. It was super nice even in the middle of summer when you're constantly sweating and the sand burns your feet. But seriously, one of the best beaches I've ever been to. The food was amazing and the room also good, though I had to put the fan they gave me like right up to my bed. I got sand everywhere, but that's just part of the game. Nights also were idyllic as you can eat there on the seaside with music and the moon overhead. Family groups of Israelis and Jordanians on their summer vacations passed through. You can also sea Saudi Arabia across the Red Sea but most people are visiting from other parts of Egypt. So along side many of my European co-volunteers, I got to meet a lot of people. If I had any complaints, it'd be that sometimes my food took awhile to arrive, or they'd forget about me. But they would have a lot of customers to a small staff and maybe I was just impatient. I would sometimes have to ask for toilet paper in the bathroom, which also had frequent problems of clogging. The wifi worked most of the time, but could be very slow. In all, I took this stuff in stride as part of traveling and volunteering in developing countries.

Avoid July and August but try to go all year round. the primitive place gives a nice stay for people who want to really relax away from stress of crowd cities/offices. The experience of the owner, his passion, his story and the community activities are a great plus to the stay. The food is home made and delicious. The beach is so calm and relaxing that we disconnected from the stress of work and recharged our energy. It is really value for money as the stay is relatively cheap, it costs around 40$/night subject to season. Finally, Getting to Nuweiba is the only difficulty and driving there takes 8-10 hours by car from Cairo. A better way (but more expensive) is to fly to Sharm El sheikh and drive (2hrs) to Nuweiba. We are waiting for Taba airport to operate as then driving is only less than an hour.

I just spent a week at Habiba's and it was all and all a wonderful experience. Great fresh, organic food (part of the slow-food movement), fantastic breakfast by the beach, a coral reef nearby and a very special atmosphere that encourages relaxation and mindfulness. The attached organic farm is a great learning opportunity and an inspiration to do more, in connexion with local communities. ps : lovely dog :)
