First of all I would like to say that even though a few disadvantages I have really enjoyed my holidays. Hotel is meant to be 5*, but for sure it is not. There is no wi-fi, only in lobby, but it is really slow anyway. Bathrooms were worst point of the room, the bathtub seems to need a reovation or a deep cleaning. Also lighting could be better in bathroom, it was hard to do the makeup. It looks like renovations are being done in a really cheap and fast way, some things are hanging on the wall, but one touch and it would fall down. Chairs on the balcoon in room are damaged (from sun I believe, but it was unpleasant to sit on broken leather, as it irritated skin) Room service could be better also, we did not have our room cleaned 3 days due to the open locking safe. (I understand it should be locked, but we didn't even notice that safe in the closet - it was open since beggining and room was cleaned... just after some time it was not. Because safe was empty, it sounded just like an excuse) So we had to look for towel man at our own and use tissues instead of toilet paper, as reception was not always a big help. What is suprising for me, waiters can speak english/german much better than lobby reception. We had unpleasant situation with broken mirror in room, we had to pay 60 euros even if it was not our fault, because a bird flew into room and hit mirror. We did not even have a chance to explain. What is interesing for me, is that room service did not notice lack of towels, but possibility to cash tourists for something, they saw immadietaly... :| But most tiring for us was this "tip culture". I was giving tips with pleasure to the waiters. They were always smiled, happy and willing to help. And as I mentioned it was easy to communicate with them. But men in the lobby? Terrifying, they even didn't ask, they just put hand to get a tip. "No" doesn't mean "no" for them. Behaviour like from streets not 5 star hotel... Also what I didn't like they were several times asking for a change 1$ to bigger denominations. At one point I had to show my wallet that I really don't have bigger denominanation. I've felt like a piggy bank, even though that I have already payed for that holidays. If you go for a dinner to la carte restaurant menu you have to pay for drinks. OK, I would understand that, but prices are high (compared to other restaurants beside hotel) and drink menu is just boring. There are few drinks, they all taste similar to each other and it is impossible to taste alcohol, unless you give a tip ;) Breakfasts were boring, every day same food. But big plus for fresh prepared eggs, cooks were really nice. I really enjoyed melange, perfect grilled meat and lovely service. Also I really liked staff in joker bar, also very lovely and always smiling. Parties at evening were mostly meant for german tourists, german music was playes. It did not disturb me, but I think some variety would be nice. Pools are beautiful, cleaned every day. But few leaves do not disturb, water is clean. For me the best was pool near joker bar, it was 1,6m or even 1,7m. Garden is my favourite thing about Makadi Palace, staff is really taking care of plants, palms were trimmed, grass was watered. Flowers just beautiful! We were in Makadi Palace in Mai and sometimes we were struggling to find free sunbed, so I think in high season it must be a problem. The reason why I chose Makadi Palace was Makadi Bay! Perfect for snorkeling, easy access from the wooden pier. Unforgettable views and memories. I think Makadi Palace should work on improvments, because without Makadi Bay it would be just a average hotel. Anyway thank you for beautiful holidays. …
