Fort Arabesque Resort, Spa, & Villas promises tranquility and opulence with its 517 luxurious rooms, suites, private apartments and 65 villas. Four dining venues, five swimming pools, including a children's pool (three of which are heated), a state-of-the-art gym, world-class Thai-managed Spa and sports facilities as well as I-Dive, a five-star IDC PADI dive center, guarantee a fun and unforgettable hotel experience. Inspired by the Sardinian roots of its architects, Fort Arabesque Resort & Spa combines distinctive Italian and Arabic accents in its architecture, from its imposing medieval fort structure to its interior touches and décor, where the different shades of Egyptian cave stones from Aswan blend with the antique fine wood furnishings of oriental designs. We would like to introduce our new concept as well, which is unique in Egypt. Nestled within the Fort Arabesque resort, The Villas offer its guests luxurious accommodation, space and privacy in addition to a more personal and dedicated service. Each of the 65 Villas (40 units with 1 bedroom + 1 bathroom, 19 units with 1 bedroom + 1 bathroom with a sea view, 6 units with 2 bedrooms + 2 bathrooms) is tastefully decorated to reflect the mix of Arabic accents and Mediterranean influences of the Fort Arabesque Resort. All units have private garden and terrace with private access to a secluded swimming pool exclusive to The Villas. To ensure a fast and efficient service, the check-in is done through a private reception. The residents also have access to the Pavilion which is a private lounge where the villa guests can enjoy a semi-served upgraded breakfast in the morning. For lunch and dinner time the Pavilion functions as an A’la Carte Restaurant, giving the opportunity to enjoy a fine dining experience. The extra benefits of the Villa Guests include free Wi-Fi, free Gym usage and various discounts in the different outlets of the hotel. Guests at The Villas are free to use all the facilities and enjoy the same ‘all inclusive’ benefits at the resort with quick access to the main restaurant and the beach as well.

Detailed Reviews
This was our fourth trip in four years and certainly not our last.
We first revisited the resort due to the amazing snorkeling reef on the beach but more and more it’s about the staff, saying that the reef remains stunning and every visit has led to new discoveries. So far we have seen rays, cuttlefish, moray eels, snake eels and a giant turtle as well as all the usual and spectacular tropical fish.
Many of the staff have been the same over last few years and it's always wonderful to be recognised and greeted warmly.
Every member of staff, whether gardeners cleaners, waiting staff or managers seems genuinely interested in you having a good stay.
Special thanks to Fatima, Waleed and the whole team at club 159 who treated us as VIPs at every visit. The steak here is very good and comes highly recommended.
Other mentions go to Asmaa and Waleed at the beach bar during the day, Ahmed at the BBQ nights and Sara in the east wing buffet.
We also have to thank Dasha on the beach who kept us up to date on hotel news.
While there is renovations and building works going on this is barely audible from the beach and will vastly improve the hotel for the future. We dont tend to use the pool as we like snorkeling a few times each day. We knew about this from Tui in advance and I know our rep got some people quieter rooms.
Top tips are to ask for a quiet room, bring euros (coins and notes) and bring your own water bottles to use at the numerous filling stations rather than lots of single use plastic bottles.
We're looking forward to our next visit!

We first visited this hotel 10 years ago and remembered that the snorkelling was amazing. We had some friends who wanted to try snorkelling so I'mmediately thought of Fort Arabesque. The hotel has had lots of changes but was basically as we remembered it. As there was building on site, as we had read on the reviews, we asked for a quiet area and were given rooms in the West Wing. The room was quite dated but was cleaned daily and had two double beds and plenty of storage plus a nice sea and garden view (Room 920 and 921). We took a travel kettle and the next day housekeeping left us a supply of tea, coffee etc which was appreciated (although we did bring our own).
The grounds are beautiful and the gardeners are working on them the whole time. The pool by the West Wing was heated and we enjoyed swimming in there most days.
The snorkelling is amazing and you only have to walk into the sea from the beach.
The food was always hot and a good variety. The staff, without exception are very friendly and helpful. A special mention to Dasha and Fatima who are both exceptional in their roles. Dasha made sure everyone was ok and walked around the hotel and grounds all day, taking notes if you had a problem/concern/enquiry. Fatima was a great host in the 159 bar and introduced herself to us as soon as we went up there on our first of many visits.
Entertainment during the evening was varied - 159 was really good with live bands/singers. The Arena had a mixture, the whirling dervish being the best and the West Wing bar had 2-3 different singing acts during the week as well as a very good belly-dancer.
Drinks were not too bad, it helped that Schweppes tonic is used. We are used to this as we have been to lots of hotels in Egypt and they are all the same so we know what to expect. We did ask for a Baileys one night but was told it was €8 (or €10, can't remember) so we didn't have one.
My husband and I and our friends enjoyed our stay and will definitely be returning in November.
TIP: Do not tip staff with coins, either £s or €s as they cannot change them. We take $s or you can get Egyptian notes from the ATM

Lets start with the postive on arriving to the hotel the reception was very welcoming and reception was great bell boy took our bags to our room. The room was big enouge for 4 person will double beds and very clean and tidy every day clean towels and beds are maid with fresh sheets every day. Breakfast was a great diffrent verity of fruits and salads and much more.the downside i have was on some parts of the resort like the beach felt like i was not a value customer felt like secound bed felt like the Dutch and German were respected more the the english and they got great service at bars and in lobby. On three occasions i had to wait 40 minutes for service for drinks on one occasion i sat at my table and arrived same time as a German couple setted, within 4 minutes of them seating they had their drinks and we waited 40 minutes to the point we had to call one over to clean the table and take our drinks order. The hotel is great but staff need to work on their customers relations skills. The wifi at the hotel was not geart feel having to come such a long was with a hoyel with four star the Internet should be free in all area of the hotel not just the lobby amd having to pay for internet is just a way of making more money on the holiday makers as phones service is not get at parts of the hotel and even if i bought the Internet i was not guaranteed that i would get great service.

We booked a family holiday which turned out to be the worst holiday we have ever had. The hotel was probably nice when it was first built but it is now tired and run down. For a modern 4 star hotel you expect the basics to be right, sadly they weren't; blood stains on the mattress, stained pillows, mouldy shower, no wifi in the rooms, loose plug sockets, dirty crockery left in the corridors, the list goes on and on.
We spent more time in reception than anywhere else complaining about all sorts of failings, staff not washing their hands when handling different types of food, reservations not made when staff promised they had booked things for us. Our written complaint to TUI was like a small book. The flagship restaurant, was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had.
The site was a building site with work starting at 0700, because of this certain areas were boarded off as a building site, not to mention the noise.
Our local TUI rep was about as much use as a chocolate teapot, TUI had been aware of the renovation works but had failed to tell anyone in advance. Our complaints brought promises of better things but sadly things just got worse.
The only real positives were things outside of the hotels control, the reef is great and full of life, the on site dive centre is also good. The staff their are first rate, especially the dive leaders and Steffi in the office.
Sad to say the problems that we had still seem to be happening as we know people who are there now, having similar issues.

We stayed for our 9th visit between 2nd March and 16th March staying in West Bay room 267. The room overlooked the pool and above the bar. Good room and quiet after the bar closed promptly at 11:00.
The West Bay reception were efficient and helpful. Free wifi in the reception areas was ok. One device only. Paying extra gives you a bit more coverage. We bought a Vodafone 20Gb SIM card at the airport and created a hotspot with an old phone, which worked really well - until the data ran out after 12Gb! (Will take it up with them next time I visit)
The beach was lovely as usual and the water sports chaps, Mousa & Mo, very friendly and helpful, although only the first half hour of windsurfing is free now. Kayaking free anytime still. Towel chap, Abdul, a lovely friendly man, very helpful. Dasha, the hotels beach customer service rep, was super friendly and helpful no matter how small the issue.
The food was good and varied as usual. The waiters all very friendly and helpful, particularly Karim, Youseph and Samara. The best Cappuccino was to be had at the main East Wing bar, where the manager Mina was a great host.
The weather was mostly good with blue skies, with the exception of one sand storm morning and two days of cloud, wind and a little rain. Not a problem though - an excuse to walk and use the bars.
There were no virus concerns whilst we were there, although the staff took the precaution of wearing disposable gloves, and guest hand washing and the use of the hand sanitisers was much more frequent.
We do hope that our lovely Egyptian friends will weather this pandemic and we hope to visit again soon.

We booked this hotel for the snorkeling which I had read was good and we weren't disappointment.
I would say if you are booking for the colder months take a shorty wet suit and you can stay out longer. Use shoes also is my suggestion as when we were there there were several different types of jelly fish some laying on the ocean bed.
The coral is in islands within the sand bottom, you can snorkel all the way down the coastline but come in where it is allowed as the nearer you are to the beach there is dead or developing coral which should be protected and not walked on. The coral is healthy but the marine life is not plentiful as I had expected, I did see a small spotted ray but no sharks or turtles just the usual small fish no shoals. The area is buoyed off to protect swimmers from the boats which use the outer sea area.
This is a hotel with an imaginative layout very attractive to see with the beautiful gardens. There is an adult only apartment block which has it's own restaurant and warm pool, but anyone can eat there wherever you are accommodated and we did.
Also there are villas, if this is your interest and they are very beautiful you need to know that most don't get a view, in fact some face the back of the main apartment block.
Also the pools are shared pools which are in front of the villas. We wouldn't have liked that because someone could swim and get into your outside area so from a security point we didn't think this was a good design
feature although it did look very attractive.
The Pavilion restaurant is for the villas but you can pay to eat there if you want. Our accommodation was near the Pavilion and there is a very comfortable sitting out area over looking the ocean which we used all the time in the evening before dinner.I recommend the cocktails, just work you way down the menu.
Food I would say in the main dinning room was average not fine dining, reasonable selection but not 4* class I would say 3* we preferred the adult only dinning room.
The staff were great, rooms could do with a bit updating but they were clean and our view from the balcony overlooking the ocean and we were high up it was lovely.
I would say they could have done with another lift at the far side, walking down the outside stairs needs a banister. The stairs outside are steep and narrow, certainly don't use them in the evening it could be dangerous.
We wouldn't book this hotel again for the simple reason we like walking and although you can walk round the bay and we did you cannot walk anywhere else. Your option is to take a taxi if you want to leave the hotel, the local buses are not allowed to come to the hotel and the walk to the main road is some distance away.

Best house reef we have seen yet in Egypt, lots to see just meters from the beach. plenty of food choice and room on the beach. We especially liked the fact the beach guys make you walk into the water at two/three points to stop you walking over the coral to protect it all - thumbs up guys.
we were heading back next week but will sadly have to wait now :-(

Dear Annettes, thank you very much for your visit and for sharing your experience online. We are pleased that you had such a great time. It's nice to see that you have been satisfied with the friendliness of our team, a wonderful beach facility, and delicious dining options. The Red Sea does offer myriad opportunities to explore its bounty via snorkeling and diving activities. Certainly, to protect marine life is a must and we do our best to do so. We hope to welcome you back to our resort soon again. Greetings from Fort Arabesque Resort, Spa & Villas Team

This was our second visit, myself and my 84 year old mother. We requested a room in the adult only West Wing, on the ground floor near to the restaurant and this was granted. The room was lovely, embellished a couple of times with towel art by the housekeeping staff, a lovely touch! The staff cannot do enough for you, very helpful! The rooms are clean and comfortable, with tv, fridge, safe, shower, plenty of hot water. We were a short walk away from everything we needed. The pool was a lovely temperature, the sea is a bit cooler but it was worth dipping in there to see the tropical fish. The West wing restaurant and bar staff were very helpful and attentive and remembered your drink - you never have to ask for a refill! We visited the East wing too but that was not as relaxed. The evening entertainment was mixed. One night there was a couple singing, the gentleman looked and sounded like he had walked in off the street for a karaoke, but fair play to him for giving it a go! Even in February, I came home with a tan, but half a stone heavier due to the food and drink, especially the scrumptious deserts. We will definitely be returning.

Stayed here after holiday to Fuerteventura was cancelled due to Spain changing rules for unvaccinated children
What can I say AMAZING!
Beach fantastic.they are really protective over the coral as there as so many amazing species to snorkel out and see impeccably clean
Room was a partial sea view great but we saw the villas age 16+ and upgraded to one after a couple of days pool was warmed staff couldn’t do enough for us
Room attendant was lovely he came in and decorated the bed with petals and animals for the kids
When upgrading to premium all inclusive you get access to the beach bar for lunch food was great and u get 3 course al a carte dining for dinner every night -perfect.waiters can’t do enough for you nothing is too much trouble.you also get your own spot on the beach with your own beds reserved daily and a ice box with all drinks included
Food in main restaurant on usual all inclusive was nice too
The grounds of the hotel are beautiful, constantly attended by gardeners even cutting the grass with what looked like scissors! It’s so clean never saw a bug anywhere
Husband had a couple of massages in the spa and the beach vendor guy was great to chat to.
Other beach vendors won’t disturb you if you ask for a red flag to tie on your beach umbrella from the beach towel store
Great stay will be back
Thanks

This was my third stay at the Fort and the best yet. We were allocated a room in the west wing, but after realising how little sun our east facing balcony received, we requested and received a south facing upgraded room and were very pleased with our second room with its wonderful sea views. Having tea making facilities in the room was a bonus too.
I won't repeat much of my previous review of this hotel, except to reiterate that the setting in lovely gardens beside a long sandy beach and great reef at this hotel make it an ideal spot to stay on Makadi Bay.
One of the big pluses with this hotel is that there is entertainment starting earlier than most hotels, with live singers starting around 8 p.m. Admittedly the standard of singing varies, but it's a chance to listen or dance and in the west wing this is in the Sunset Bar where people do not smoke, so anyone in the main hotel who is bothered by smoke should pop over to the west wing.
One area in which I saw a real improvement since last year was the food, not just in the quality (including some yummy desserts) but in ensuring the food is kept hot.
Another improvement is that there is now free wifi in the lobby of both the main hotel and the west wing. This is not as ideal as free wifi throughout, but very convenient for those of us who are content with a daily catch up with emails, etc, without having to buy data.
Already looking forward to next year!

No you will not be able to eat at Club 159 this is only for adults and premium all inclusive guests
I believe it is €45 per person per day to go premium all inclusive
The wifi is mostly good and reliable in the villa and the entire hotel area. From time to time you have to log in again but it is not often
Free WiFi in the room and you have connection around the pool area too but maybe not as good as in the room.
