First and foremost, the hospitality and service is exceptional. Quite literally every member of staff cannot do enough for you but are not overpowering. We asked a few times for items that weren't on the menus, or extras that were, and every time our requests were met with a smile.
Really enjoyed the personal touch of the restaurant managers and chefs coming out to you to ask if you are enjoying the meal.
Bar staff will make any drink up that you want, all branded drinks are also available
The food in all 3 Tucana restaurants was fabulous and menus changed daily to some degree so returning to the same restaurant was just as great. We did eat at the Makhadi Royal one night as part of the all inclusive offering but the Mexican was very disappointing so we didn't go back . We also intended to see a show or two there but it was very cold and windy and they simply weren't enough heaters to warm the place up. Obviously the weather can't be helped,
The Tucana is by far the more superior hotel, stylish and modern with great music and atmosphere.
There were however some minuses for us. We booked a double delux room and got a twin, with standard size single beds, however we liked the location so didn't ask for it to be changed. For me, the room standard isn't what I expected, the beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was great but the room was stone white walls, white sheets, hard floors, with the narrowest of sofa bed for our 12 year old Pretty standard hotel room.
The pool should have a no smoking area, it says on the sign no smoking but then ashtrays are on every table.
The animation team (I think they were animation, in blue jackets) didn't seem to do anything except stretch and yoga and sit on the end of guest sunbeds to chat. This may be their role in keeping the guests happy but, as stated, I had an almost teenager and there was no direction to any organised sporting activities. He did play football and tennis with us when we eventually found the pitch, but if there was anything organised we didn't get to know about it.
We found sunbeds no problem for the first few days as it was quiet and pretty cold but towards the end of the weeks stay, as it got warmer, ALL the sunbeds immediately next to the pool and on the front of the beach were reserved from very early, many not used for hours. There were beds still to be had but the prime position ones must have been reserved before 8am. I hate to think what this would be like in peak season.
We had a lovely stay and the hospitality and a la carte meals made it for us. It would probably be better listed as an Adults only hotel as it doesn't really have anything for children as far as I could see, plenty going on next door but the restaurants and staff there aren't in the same league.
Further a fantastic boho-style restaurant, this hotel is the only one in Hurghada that operates on a la carte system for all meals. God, the food is divine, the chef from turkey, sous-chef from Ukraine will fulfill all your even the most impossible food desires! The restaurant staff do their job very efficiently, with a smile, I don’t even know how they remember all orders, they’re probably just magicians :) But this is understandable when you meet their head, Ahmed Al Masry, Assistant F&B Manager, you can immediately see an experienced professional, constantly interacts with guests, is attentive to all suggestions and wishes. Separate big respect to the waiters, Khaled, Mahmoud, Hesham, you guys are just credit to this hotel!
Further, the room is clean, new, charming decor items, the bathroom is generally impeccable, there is absolutely everything, you do not need to take anything with you. The cleaners work all day and at the same time do not forget to smile and always be friendly. Many thanks to their manager Ibrahim Hassan!
Thank God, I didn't have to complain during the rest and contact the guest service team, but I personally saw their manager Mohamed Ali and supervisor Elena accompany the guests on any questions, they are really professionals, bravo!

The animation team is amazing, big, interesting, no one will be bored, Osama Abdo their leader tries to satisfy all the guests and they do great, these guys are stars!
Separately, I note Zidan, whose shop of creams and natural oils at the end of the beach opposite the Pharmacy, is incredibly polite, speaks all languages, can advise in case of burns or vice versa, make you a wonderful tan and will definitely give you a gift, I highly recommend it!
But all the success of the Sunrise Tucana Hotel is impossible without it's heart, without it's father, without a person who cares for every guest with his heart and works 24/7 without days off and rest just to make you come home happy, this is Mr. Said El Atiek. Massive thanks !!

When we arrived for check-in, we were comfortably seated. However, we arrived around 11:30 a.m. and we had to wait until 2 p.m. to get our room. We were taken to the restaurant. However, when you have been up since 3 a.m. after a long journey, you want to freshen up and change before going to eat.
The superior double room is comfortable but not luxurious. the bathroom is modern but sad. The bedding is much too firm for my taste.
The entertainment is present and appeals to everyone but is not intrusive.
The service is very good, the staff is numerous and seeks your satisfaction. A person passes on the beach cleaning sunglasses distributing fresh fruit...
In the hotel the staff does not speak French.
You are always served in a glass and not in a cup, even at the beach, and that is very appreciated.
The food is sometimes good, sometimes satisfactory, efforts need to be made at this level to improve the quality.
At breakfast a variety of pastries are presented which are appetizing and nicely decorated but which are dry.
At the Greek restaurant, efforts must be made at lunchtime on the care given to the dishes and the variety of the menu.
The pool is warm but very noisy. It is surrounded by buildings which creates a resonance.
There is no lounge pool for adults unless you are part of the posh club and it is very expensive (€230 per day extra).
The posh club is a room with a larger swimming pool aimed more at families, imported alcoholic drinks, room service and access to a quiet adult swimming pool. Note that this swimming pool is very little used since it is intended for adults who mostly have family rooms (look for the mistake).
To be calm we offer you the posh club for an additional 230 euros per day otherwise we offer you the swimming pool of the hotel next door but which is cold and where the atmosphere is not more satisfactory. Or there is still the adult beach of the hotel next door but if I wanted the royal sunrise I would have chosen this hotel (there you are served in cups on the other hand).
However, we had a very good Bedouin evening (Thursday).
We were disappointed at the felucca (fish restaurant). It's difficult to say that because the service is very, very good, very attentive, but it's not fish from the catch of the day and it's expensive.
The beach is small but has a gentle slope. Be careful there are no corals. For snorkelling, you have to go to the beaches of neighboring hotels.
Conclusion it all depends on your expectations. All of the comments here are true but the needs and requirements are different depending on the person. This hotel has good service here in makadi bay
We could not fault this holiday in any way at all and have already booked a return visit next March, which is something that we have never done before.
The hotel itself is modern, extremely clean and well staffed. Our room, which was a superior double room with balcony was more than ample for our visit. Well equipped with plenty of storage and hanging space. The in-room fridge was restocked daily and the room was kept spotless throughout our stay.
The bathroom was very large with a huge shower enclosure and all the toiletries were supplied and neatly laid out.
All of the staff were extremely helpful, professional and friendly. It would be wrong to mention individuals because they were all exceptional but Mahmoud, The Guest Experience Manager (I think!) was exceptionally helpful and appeared to be popular with his staff.
The food was faultless and an Ala Carte approach was fantastic which added to the holiday experience and made sure that you didn’t over eat (but you could keep ordering!) The waiters were attentive and entertaining and nothing appeared to be too much trouble.
The staff who worked the various bars were on the ball and could easily remember your drinks, which amazed us as there were so many guests.
Our favourite restaurant was Yades on the beach. The lunch choice was fantastic and the staff faultless and perceptive to our needs. A very relaxing place to watch the world go by.
The pool areas were clean and the lounger beds were very comfortable - although we did struggle to find some in the sun on a couple of days. The daily supplied beach towels were large, soft and clean.
The bar staff were on hand, walking around and tendering to our needs.
Overall, the quality could not be faultered and it definitely deserves a 5 star rating for everything it has to offer.
We look forward to our return visit in March.
Welcoming staff who only speak German or English and not French. In short, we are explained how the hotel works and with our room category we are at the Poshclub (extra services). We have a suite with 2 bedrooms, a double bed and 2 single beds (family of 2 adults and 2 children), as I could not book this room online for the 4 I wrote to the hotel and the manager responded to me and made the reservations directly, it was much appreciated.
In short, the room is large and very classy, sober and chic, polished concrete and wood style with a lounge area at the entrance (a little dark for my taste because no window) the room for young people (2 single beds) has of its bathroom and the master bedroom (extra king size bed) also has its own bathroom, the quality of the bedding is excellent.
The air conditioning is a little noisy.
On the balcony there is a jacuzzi... small downside the balcony is almost too small because there is only room for the jacuzzi but the view is magnificent over the swimming pool and the sea.
There are unlimited cold drinks (Coke, Schweppes, still sparkling water) and a Nespresso machine...the room is on the 2nd (and top floor) which is good with this hotel...there are not 15 floors )... below there is a room with the swimming pool it can quickly become disturbing if there are people who are not paying attention and who shout as if they were alone!!! There are several restaurants and what we appreciated is that there is no buffet (perhaps less waste (?)) we are served at the table and the quantities are small but we can eat reserve as long as you want. We enjoyed the Yades restaurant, and the Poshclub). The quality is good!
The exterior decoration is magnificent with its cacti and it is very well maintained.
We had 2 inconveniences, well not much but be careful to understand what is included or not. We had an all inclusive extra in our package and we understood that we could order room service too but this was not the case as we were charged for children's room service when checking out. There is a subtlety that I didn't understand.
Another thing that disappointed us for a hotel of this quality was that the hotel invited us to a Barbecue evening and I confirmed the time and when we arrived we were told that the restaurant was unfortunately full that they had overbooked! In short, it's not serious but small adjustments need to be made!
There is a great fitness center with a magnificent view.
The possibility of going to the slides, the swimming pool and the restaurants in the other hotel of the same chain next door (but not the same atmosphere).
We tried the beauty salon - so move on, I had a "luxury pedicure" and the nail polish didn't last 2 days!!! It's not worth the price!
There are bars on the rooftops with entertainment, it's very nice... a Shisha bar too... but too expensive 10 euros and we paid 3 euros at Luxor!
The deckchairs by the sea are great and there is the swimming pool at the posh club too which is amazing.
I recommend this hotel because I liked its bohemian spirit and the cleanliness of the site, the quality of the rooms.

We had a standard room with a beautiful view in a quiet building 29 (3rd floor).
The food is delicious, freshly squeezed juice in the morning, the chef will take into account all your wishes.
I would like to note some nuances:
For very hot climates in summer, there are no air-conditioned rooms; for example, there is no place to comfortably drink coffee and dessert. Desserts are only on the main menu, the choice is so-so, the ice cream is delicious, but it can only be taken from the restaurant during lunch. If you decide to have lunch at a Greek restaurant on the beach, then you are only allowed in with clothes on and there is just a sauna; you can only eat comfortably in the main restaurant.
All restaurants for dinner except the main one must be booked 1 day in advance. Food needs to be ordered and it’s a little annoying (sometimes they take a long time to deliver, sometimes they don’t deliver something, they confuse the order),
The mattress is hard and the noisy air conditioner in the room is installed incorrectly (directly opposite the bed),

The hotel is not for children, mostly adults or young couples,
You can use the services of the neighboring Sunrise Royal Makadi hotel, there are slides and swimming pools, but the level is lower (general map in the photo).
