The Royal Star Empire Beach Resort offers a mixed experience, according to guest feedback. While the hotel's amenities, including clean pools and beach services, are generally appreciated, the rooms often fall short of expectations due to cleanliness and maintenance issues. The atmosphere receives mixed reviews, with the beach getting compliments but the decor and entertainment not consistently meeting guest standards. Service stands out with commendations for the staff's friendliness, yet some encounter problems with room assignments and refunds. The resort's value is questioned by many travelers, who highlight subpar food and pushy sales tactics.

We have to persuade the manager to move us as our first room was tired, has dirty sheets, old noisy fridge, leaking sink and no handle on the bathroom door. The balcony had no room to sit it was less than an arms length wide!!
The food however was nice and the grounds/ pools and beach were good. It was nice to have one pool heated being there in March when the water isn't particularly warm.

The hotel from the outside isn't impressive to say the least but once inside it does have an old fashioned kind of charm which is probably why it's so popular.

We weren't happy at all with the first room we were shown (not a great start to the holiday) but fortunately we got an alternative one which was clean and bright with a nice patio. On the downside, the hot water was a bit hit and miss and if the gardeners were using the hose, the pressure went off so we had to complain a couple of times. Aside from that everything was OK and the rooms were cleaned and the towels changed daily.

There’s no WiFi anywhere except in the reception area so we bought sim cards from the shop on site run by Zak and Mohammed. You can also buy camel's milk from them too and if they don't have what you want in store, they'll do their best to get it for you.

The food was really nice, especially good for vegetarians. The restaurant staff were really friendly and once you got to know them you could have a good laugh with them.

Every two weeks or so the evening buffet is served outside and a lot of effort is put into this and there's good entertainment too, if you like belly dancing!

There are three swimming pools, Yakoub's beach bar, pool/beach towel hut, snorkelling, cuba diving, massage and other spa services, another shop and last but not least the animation team. The beach sun beds could really do with new mattresses... they really have seen better days.

All in all this was an enjoyable week, thanks to the fantastic weather but more importantly to the smiling, friendly staff, which is probably why people go back year after year, despite any negative first impressions.

Just got home from the worst holiday ever ! Where so I start ? If your looking at booking this hotel don’t !!! It’s beyond basic , the air conditioning in room didn’t work - I didn’t sleep for 7 nights it was so hot and reception would say we will send somebody to look at it ! It was never fixed !
The room was full of ants , the swimming pools were stinking ! They were so dirty you couldn’t see the bottom ! There was no way I was going in that , the food and the area it was served ( I won’t call it a restaurant) was disgusting! So so dirty ! The utensils were vile ! It looked like a prison canteen where the servers were throwing the slop onto a plate . I’m not a fussy eater but there was literally nothing you could eat !!! It made me sick to enter the area
When you sit near the beach area of the hotel you were absolutely hounded by the staff for a massage , or a beauty treatment ! I don’t say the word hounded lightly , I’ve travelled the world and never been made to feel pressurised like this , the man also touches your feet and face and this was daily !! . I couldn’t wait to get home from this holiday , the place is awful , and if I could give any advice to anybody going it would be to ask your travel agent can you pay extra to upgrade to something better .
Whilst I was there I paid 100 US dollars which enabled myself and my husband to use the pool of the sister hotel next door , which is a million times cleaner

Well, where do I start? I like to be positive, so I will start with the staff. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful although Ahmed one of the bar staff was just plain rude and arrogant. The entertainment team were definitely 'tryers' and were so friendly unless you caught them when they were not working, and then they would just ignore you. The pools are small, I wouldn't like to go here in high season as I can imagine there would be no sun loungers as there were not many people there last week and some days you had to find a lounger. The pools are clean, and the lifeguards present love the children and watch what they are up to. The rooms are incredibly tired and need gutting. There is a fridge in each room and a TV and hair dryer, all of which work. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and we slept really well. The rooms are cleaned to a high standard. However, we were only given 1 bath towel and 1 hand towel between 2 adults. When you arrive, you are given beach towel cards so you can get fresh beach towels each day from the hut by the sea if you can get the guy off his phone long enough to oblige. The food was OK, very limited. Chicken, beef, and fish and one vegetable dish, rice, potatoes, and pasta. It's pretty much the same thing every lunch and dinner time. The smallest buffet I have EVER come across in an all-inclusive resort. The alcoholic drinks are all local and are pretty rank. The cocktails are their version with whatever squashes, not juice they have available. Nothing is 'on tap' all come in plastic bottles Inc the alcohol, the beer comes in cans, which they pour some into a glass/plastic beaker depending where you are drinking, wine of any kind is not part of the all inclusive package and you have to pay a supplement if you want wine. The evening entertainment leaves something to be desired, and when the 'act' is over the DJ puts on music which is completely inappropriate for children and they really don't care if children are present with song lyrics like 'suck my d!@k' and the words f&@k etc. One lady had a go at the DJ because of this, but it didn't change the type of music he put on. In one of my pics I have circled a light fitting, this is by the pool table and my husband got an electric shock from it. Overall, I wouldn't go back here, and I wouldn't recommend it either. The week before we arrived there was a fire in the apartment block to the left of the swimming pool, there were no smoke alarms or a working fire alarm, people on the second floor were tying bed sheets together so they could escape the room safely. This was a cheapy holiday that we booked last minute and no wonder the hotel was cheap because you wouldn't want to pay much for staying there.

Think of the worst hotel you’ve ever stayed in and times in by 10. Absolutely shocking and the travel companies should be ashamed of themselves for selling this hotel to anyone. Rooms are shabby. Food Was absolutely inedible and the drinks on offer was very basic and poor.

If you book to stay in this hotel you should also book to see a psychiatrist just after you’ve paid to stay. 1 out of 10 is just for the friendly staff and nothing else.

This is the sea view they wanted to upgrade us too when we complained. We moved to the stunning royal star beach resort next door.

Arrived at this hotel on the 28th of February. I have been in hotels all over the world and this has been the worst. Upon arrival we were told to leave our bags in reception and ushered to the so called restaurant because it shuts at 20.15. The left overs were inedible. I decided at that point I was not staying there so went to reception to tell them. The Guy on reception said they had a sister hotel next door so we went for a look at it with him and decided we would stay there. We had to spend the 1st night at Empire beach because they had no rooms till the following morning. What a shock when we got to our rooms the curtains were hanging off the windows the bathroom was filthy with no towels the toilet and shower hadn't been cleaned in years. We decided we needed a drink so found the so called bar with no bottles or anything on display. I asked for a white wine they dont have it so I had a beer. There was no bottles of water in the room so I asked for one. They wanted 5pounds off me. Not bad considering it was all inclusive. Next day we went next door to there sister hotel and had to pay 317pounds for our remaining 6 days which I thought was cheeky but paid it any. Iam not a fussy person but Empire beach needs pulling down. Royal Star was Beutiful friendly staff lovely food. Give them a try.

I hate to leave a bad review as the staff are lovely and most are honestly trying their best. But .... the first rooms we eere given were without a doubt the worst I have ever stayed in. To say they were dated is an understatement, they were awful. The room the kids had was even dangerous as the lead to the fridge was showing bare wires. Both our rooms were filthy and the fridges were a biological hazard. We made a complaint which was taken seriously and was promised their best rooms for the next day. We were shown a choice of 4 of their 'best' rooms which although better was far from what I'd expect the best to be but were acceptable.
The food was barely edible except for one night they had an outdoor banquet style spread which was wonderful. The rest of the week the food was terrible, the breakfast wasn't even worth getting out of bed for! The outside bar drinks were served in filthy plastic beakers.
Each day we were approached by people trying to sell us massages, tours, drinks, diving etc and were difficult to shake off as they wouldn't take no for an answer.
The wifi was only available in reception but don't worry the shop sells data bundles for £20!!!
The outside space was nice but a lot of cracked/broken tiles around the pools made it feel unhygienic.
The rooms shown on the website I honestly believe are in their 'sister' hotel which is next door, there is no comparison between them the other hotel is beautiful.

This hotel was once managed by three corners, however its now managed by a very poor and unprofessional management.

The room was very dirty and the bed sheets were not clean, I asked for them to get changed and they never did not. I complained to the receptionist and also nothing happened! I finally had to shout at the housekeeping guy so he finally changed it! He also told me I will get only one towel for the entire stay , unbelievable in a hotel actually and I insisted that I need a new towel daily.

There is an old man working at the beach bar which is very very impolite. I just asked him to smile in front of the guests so he got very nervous and angry, and he told me its none of your business! What a management!

The beach is bad and full of rocks, but acceptable.

The phone was not working and there was no safe in the room, and no lock for the room too.

They entered the room on my last day and they installed something on the door and made a mess on the floor, I asked the guy to send me someone to clean, and he never did! He even took my cleaning request with too much unconcern.

Concerning the food, its the same everyday and the cakes are not fresh at all. Apart from this, the only guy I like to thank was Mohannad which works at the restaurant which was somehow friendly .

I will never come here again, mainly due to the staff working there ! They need a new management.

I will give it 2 stars just for the price.

I visited the Empire Beach resort hotel in May and June 2022. I spent 2 months there.
Because I had tourists, I ate almost all the time at the sister hotel Royal Star Beach.
know the hotel intimately, I have been visiting it for many years. I know its pros and cons.
The food is simpler, but tasty. The staff is very nice and friendly. If there were any shortcomings with the cleaner, they were removed after notification.
The accommodation is older and simple, you are by the sea all day, so you don't need anything special. The room has everything you need. Sufficient towels and change of bed linen as needed. know the hotel intimately,
The beautiful sea where you meet dolphins almost every day is irreplaceable.
For me, the ratio of price and quality is definitely balanced.
The beautiful open sea, in which you can meet dolphins almost every day, is amazing. The hotel has 3*, and the ratio of price and quality is balanced. It is definitely not for demanding clientele. Due to the friendly staff, the pleasant garden for sitting, the amazing location on Dahar and the beautiful sea, I always like to go back there.
