Detailed Reviews
This is a well presented hotel in Hurghada with a nice restaurant and a pleasant reception area. The rooms are a good size and have most things that are expected nowadays (fridge, kettle, hairdryer, room safe) The housekeeping team keep the hotel and the rooms very clean too. There is free WiFi in the reception area but it is very weak. There is only one speciality restaurant (Italian) which serves mediocre meals on cold plates but it is beautifully presented so if style is more important to you than how the food tastes you will enjoy it. The main buffet restaurant has a decent choice of meals and has hot plates. There is a souvenir shop next door which sells stuff at prices that you would have to haggle very hard to match elsewhere.

Hotel is relatively small, built in 2008, but well maintained. For the swimmers there is a deep sea (accessed by a very long pier) and a deep part of the pool.
Food is tasty and there’s plenty of it, but the choice is for 3 stars hotel at the most. Only one evening a week it seems there are Egyptian dishes and cakes, so the choice is better. Free Wi-Fi in the lobby is unreliable and its signal week. There is no room to change swimsuits, but on my request they immediately installed hooks on the inside of the toilet cubicles’ doors (cubicles are big enough). Also, there are only toilets between pool and beach area (toilets by the pool are closed). There are a lot of small things to give impression it’s not a 5 stars hotel.
5 stars go to the employees: they are fast to respond to any requests and most kind at all times. Karam, who cleaned my room, is a true artist with what is available: towels, hats, rose petals, etc. Khaled, bartender at the Beach bar, quickly learned exactly how I drink my coffee and tea and had a ready smile throughout a day. Mr. Reda noticed everything and remedied any problem quickly and with utmost kindness. Samir, who waited on me at the restaurant, remembered where I like to seat and what I like to drink with my meals and it was waiting for me daily. Ahmed at the Reception was always kind and most informative. This was the first time that I felt so well protected: our guide for the Hurghada City tour didn’t have required documentation when he arrived to take us on a tour, so one of the guest (who met him on a previous excursion) had to vouch for him. When we returned, I thanked Ahmed for being our knight - I felt treasured! Someone from the Animation team would always approach me with information about the entertainment that day and evening.
Thank you all for a lovely vacation!

A good hotel, and food and service this price category.far from city 30 minutes And often it The beach at the hotel is very peculiar, the main bathing takes place from a long pier and it is good that there are descents into the water to different depths along ladders. Otherwise it would be inconvenient and so comfortable for everyone, even those who do not know how to swim and you can even dive at the end of the pier. There are not much fish here, but this moment is easily supplemented on excursions. Take excursions to the local tour guide 1sttourguide in instagram and internet I liked that they have an individual approach and excursions are organized on good yachts and small groups of people. You will find the site by name. Their prices are also nice and they make discounts. And transfer to city with a guide and louxor in big bus touristic The food at the hotel is good and the only thing we lack is a variety of fruits. There were only 7 types of them, but this is usually the case in all inexpensive hotels and everything you want can be bought at the fruit market at very good prices. The main thing is to take with you the designation of local numbers so as not to get confused. The territory of the hotel is pleasant and not windy, but under the protection of hotel buildings. The hotel is not new. The rooms are not new but in good condition. The condition of the furniture is good. In general, apart from the location and the unusual beach, everything else is very good for the amount that you pay for the tour.

I stayed at AMC Royal for a week of R&R after a Nile Cruise. We had a first floor Twin room which was spacious and comfortable with a good size balcony over looking the pool. The bathroom was clean but the floor was dusty and the fridge had an empty bottle of water in it when we arrived however the hotel did bring fresh water and replenished the tea and coffee. There is free WiFi in reception but it is slow and drops off. I never used the WiFi you pay for so I don’t know what it like. We found the food at the hotel adequate, some days were better than others but you could always find something good to eat. At breakfast there is only one hot water urn and two coffee machines with one of them often not working. This created queues for tea and coffee. There is no cold milk for tea only hot milk which is really annoying for Brits. Also the butter provided in the morning was always frozen hard and unusable.
This hotel is fairly small compared to a lot of hotels in Egypt which means that everything is quite easy to get to and you don’t have to walk miles to reception or to the beach or bar. The beach is quite narrow and the water is very very shallow, perfect for small children but no good for adult swimmers. There is only one pool with a separate area for children within it. There is no quiet area or adult only area in this hotel. The hotel entertainment run by a charming dancer called Laurie is good fun and professional. Laurie also provides stretch and yoga classes in the hotel garden and we enjoyed these. There was also evening entertainment in the form of pianists, saxophonist and violinist in the hotel’s grand reception. The biggest fault I could find with the hotel and the reason I marked it average is because of the hotel bars. The hotel makes no effort in this area. Glasses are warm or unavailable and not that clean, both the red and the white wines were awful, in my view totally undrinkable. The white wine was never ever cold but sometimes the red was! There is no effort to make the bar look attractive, spirits are not displayed and so you have no idea what you are drinking. No measures are used so drinks are overly strong to the point of tasting unpleasant. Often there are no limes or lemons to add to drinks. Often there were no glasses so guests had to make do with flimsy plastic beakers. The staff on reception are friendly and helpful but when I asked the hotel staff to arrange a taxi to Hurghada Marina they wanted a £20 return fair. We declined and ordered an Uber which cost £7. In summary this I a adequate budget hotel good for families with small children but I wouldn’t stay there again.

We really enjoyed beach, pier and workers. Beach is really relaxing and we liked part of the beach with grass on it and privacy on the beach. Pier is amazing and peaceful. People working here are amazing, especially Ashraf from the reception, Muhamed from lobby bar and animation team (Roma, Bibo, Bido, Amber…). They were amazing and give their best to make our vacation memorable. They will always have our gratitude. Wonderful people, funny, friendly, nice, positive, creative, simply the best. Those people turned this average hotel to one happy place. They are the only reason why we would like to return to this hotel.
Firstly it is not real 5 stars accomodation. Furniture is damaged, there is a lot of scale in the bathroom, space between tiles in the pool is damaged, the furniture is old, there is a lot of broken chairs that are still meant to use at the terrace and a lot of broken deck chairs around the pool. Sofas at the lobby are torn. Secondly, wi-fi is free only at the lobby and when you pay wi fi extra it doesn’t work in the rooms! There is no option to have internet in your room. Drinks are served in plastic glasses for one-time use. Everyday repeatedly they are without beer and we waited more than 30 minutes to get more beer at the bar. Generally this place should take more care about cleaning and hygiene.

AMC Royal Hotel 28-30th Jan 2020
Arrived in evening after short bus trip from Airport. We were staying two nights before going on a Nile Cruise. Our room 1202, was nice and big with big bathroom. It had no view, just looking straight at hotel wall and windows but not bothered as short stay. Went straight to the Blue Lagoon restaurant for dinner. A nice selection of hot food salad etc but it was a bit of a bum fight, a lot of nationalities and what was sad to see was the amount of food people wasted while shoving food in their bags for later!
We booked Italian restaurant for the next evening from helpful customer relations girl next to reception, a much better option as nice and quiet and good food and sensible portion sizes, we had soup shared a pizza and both had a main which was just about right. It's worth seeing if you can do it more than the once a week as other guests went most evenings ( maybe as off season?)
The swimming pools are in the centre of the buildings as you walk towards the beach, looked nice and clean. The towel kiosk is halfway down on right hand side of pool. The beach also nice and tidy with the usual loungers/umbrella and wind breaker set up. There is a lot of kite surfing going on so is fairly windy. Walked to end of pier couldn't see much coral or fish so not sure how good snorkelling is.
All the staff were friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our stay, we did venture out to main road to local shops to change money but better rate at machines in reception the left one takes commission the right one not?
First to be picked up for bus trip to Luxor so got front seats, last people at Caribbean hotel in Soma bay 2 hours later so was a 6 1/2 hour bus trip for us. After cruise we are going back to Makadi bay which we prefer to AMC area.
Some people on cruise stayed for just one night in hotel so had two early mornings and then tours start early so be prepared for that.
When we booked this trip they tried to get us back to AMC after cruise for 6 nights we paid a bit extra to change to Makadi bay around £30-40. Will let you know if it was worth it. It was.
NB we also found out that it was Egyptian school holidays as well, which did add to the chaos in the restaurant!

Spent 3 nights here after our Nile cruise was unceremoniously cancelled due the Corona hysteria. Arrived with several other guests after a 7 hour coach journey from Luxor to be gleefully told by the horrible smirking guy at reception that no rooms had been booked and if we wanted to stay it’d be $80.
The place was like a Butlins holiday camp, although I’m probably being mean to Butlins here. It was dated, grubby, basic and neglected. Rock hard beds, dust everywhere and all the fixings were let’s say hanging off their fixings!
Dirty ragged loungers by the pool and the sand on the beach was filthy.
What really grated though was that everything was done begrudgingly and every single member of staff did nothing without a motive - that being wanting money! Felt like it was being dragged out of every pore constantly.
Miserable rude staff everywhere apart from 1 lovely waiter Ahmed Kamal.
Oh well they’re closing down now and can maybe review their attitude during their unemployment. Karma baby!!

I experimented the worse, complicated, not customer friendly and « satisfaction » oriented days in this hotel.
First, all is old and absolutly not luxury at all.
Second, the food is really not good, in all of the 3 restaurants.
This place is a litteral factory for capitalist tourism.
You are here to eat bad food, sleep in big but old rooms, do activities and listen to the loud music everywhere and shut up.
If you ask for something (a beach towel for example), it turns to something super complicated that is goind to take hours to resolve.
Wifi works bad, even the one you pay extra.

The hotel photographs well but in person it is rather dated and poorly maintained. As an all inclusive is at at the lower end of the scale in terms of food quality and variety. There are clearly times when the evenings offering is recycled to the lunchtime serving. Between set restaurant times there are no snacks on offer except an ice cream at the pool and a slice of pizza at the beach bar from 3pm. The quality of the drinks on offer is pretty poor and all served in small plastic or paper cups. If you enjoy a good coffee with your breakfast then you will be disappointed unless you enjoy instant Nescafe Classic coffee made with Coffee Mate. Oh, and we had to make this ourselves as the vending machines were all broken!
The beach looks attractive in the photographs however this too is run down with easily 40% of the sun beds being broken and the dividers marking out the borders of the hotel being built up from what looks like construction debris. The jetty could do with some maintenance but provided a good view of the sunset and access to deeper water for swimming and snorkeling. We enjoyed the spa facilities but be prepared to have sellers from the hotel approaching you a couple of times a day.
We made a point of engaging with the staff and this was appreciated by them. We found them helpful which can't be easy given what they are working with!
On our first night we found ourselves in a room that was opposite an adjacent building that had a very loud air conditioning unit mounted on it, the hotel were immediately responsive to our request the following day to be moved.
We made the best of our time here but please don't be tempted to come here expecting a better experience than we had as you will be extremely disappointed.

Clean hotel, rooms were spacious. but poor food choices and not really tasty, very dry chicken, plain rice, bland cakes.lack of fruit. Snack bar... 2 choices only.tables were not cleaned properly once guests left the table. The crumbs were brushed off only. A la carte restaurants were not a la carte so be aware just anoter bufet but even less choices and not impressed at all. Ive asked for fresh beach towels from 3:30pm till next morning till i got them after 5 phone calls.
There's no night disco only if you want to go to a club with entertainment members for a fee.
Entertainment in the evening lasts 30min.
Entertainment team friendly but i wished we had more music throughout the day. They had some activities throughout the day.
Mini fridge has only water in it. Also there is no milk for coffee in the rooms. Hair dryer....bring your own or you'll be drying your hair for 40min.
Pools were clean but cant swimm after 5pm
Beach was clean not having the fluffy sand and the water very shallow.
Sorry to say, we wont be considering this resort to return to.
