If you've ever been to Egypt you already know that 5* is really a 4* and 4* really a 3*. On this basis we weren't shocked to find this is NOT 4*. However this was a cheap last minute booking for some sunshine. We arrived very late (2.30am) and were told we had been upgraded to a superior room. As it was late we didn't pay much attention until the next morning. Room was a good size but extremely dated and bathroom was a little mouldy. Next on to the shower. It was unbelievably bad. There was almost no pressure whatsoever, again to be expected, but not to the point the taps in the sink were releasing more water. I also spotted 3 cleaners cleaning a lamppost outside. When your rooms are this dated, when the bathrooms are gross, I would assume the management use a little common sense and use 3 cleaners to fix this, but no, 1 to clean the lamppost, one to hold the ladder and a third to stand there and chat. This was frustrating. Food was interesting, they have a lot of fresh herbs and spices but don't know how to use them in basic dishes. Also needed to add a lot of salt to get taste out of anything. Lastly if you are looking for a quiet beach to relax, this won't provide. Within 5 minutes of sitting on a sunbed, you are bombarded with locals selling excursions (this is the hotel beach). We counted one day within 15 minutes we had turned away 12 people. It was relentless and after a while its easy to lose your cool as the same people come back to you every day. The hotel should do more to tackle this as after 3 days we avoided the beach altogether which was a shame. On the positive side we expected this in egypt as we have visited previously, so didnt let any of it ruin our trip. The majority of staff were great, the doorman (calls himself ali baba), the lady at breakfast that cooked our eggs every morning, the main pool bar staff and some (not all) waiting staff. Overall we needed a week break, it delivered, but don't expect a clean 4* hotel as this is not it.…
This is my 4th time at the Grand Hotel. The Pool bar was a perfect place to drink my favourite drink ( gin and tonic). A really recommend this bar ! Bartenders are very friendly and nice!:) Services are great. You can choose from o lof of kind of facilities. I will come back again next year. See you soon G #315 #315
The stuff friendly, food ok but drinks bad, especially white wine mixed with water and red wine not available at all. ( except x-mas evening). They offer for all inclusive guests to buy better drinks. All in very poor offer. Rooms ok, volleyball on the beach excellent. Beach ok.
Hotel needs refurbished as its VERY dated. No tea and coffee facilities in the rooms, but for a whopping 15Euros you can hire a kettle and get 10 tea, coffee and a carton of milk, which locally would cost you at most 5Euro. Rip off Food basic and not hot at all. If there was a food governing body in Egypt this hotel food would fail all sorts of safety standards. The alcohol was disgusting. I'm sure the local taxi drivers use it as fuel in their cars. It was potent. I may have developed a stomach ulcer due to it. Staff were over friendly....trying to sell fruit juices, shisha, branded alcohol. It was really annoying. The Blue Horizon restaurant next to the beach was a joke. You have to wait on table service One waiter for the whole restaurant guests food AND drinks. Food was made to order and was STILL COLD!! How does that even happen?? Avoid this hotel at all costs. There are better hotels for the same price just along the mamsha You have been warned😳…
I'm writing this review in English so that it may reaches as many people as possible. The tiles on the floor of the room (especially near the walls) were DIRTY. The bathroom was even a little more disgusting, the joints were of an suspicious brown/yellow color. The ceiling of the bathroom was decaying, in addition it sometimes smelled like sewage in there too. The food was ok. When we visited seniors were the vast majority. That of course is not a bad thing, but young people might not feel to fit in. As customary in Egypt everyone is asking really insistently "Service good?" to ask for a tip. Even for the smallest service. Thank God we could change to another hotel for an acceptable fee after one night. I'll write a review for it, too. They didn't seem really surprised when we wanted to leave... To put it short: I wouldn't recommend the hotel to anyone. I am not able to understand the people who go there regularly. It's the dirtiest place I've been so far. Da unter anderem viele Deutsche dort anzutreffen sind, hier nochmal kurz auf Deutsch: Unser Zimmer war schmutzig und das Bad heruntergekommen. Essen war akzeptabel.…
In short: old, run-down hotel, not worthy of it's 3*. The hotel was nice probably a few decades ago, but it's in a dire need of renovation Pros: - nice and well maintained garden - good price - large and relatively clean beach, close to the hotel - ok food, but not great - close to the airport - relatively quiet Cons: - very old rooms and furniture that were not really renovated or modernized in over 30 years - the towels are not changed daily, unless you give a fat tip - overused beach towels that are never changed with clean ones - not once in 14 days - noisy and barely working A/C in the room - lack of stuff - the one guy that probably has to clean hundred of rooms, manage to clean ours only in the afternoon - rusty window frames and balcony, broken mirrors, old doors that don't shut down properly, rusty metallic trash bins in the room - plenty of dust behind the furniture - dirty tables in the restaurant that are never disinfected between between customers - old and dirty wooden sun lounges - broken safe in the room - very old TV set (cathode-tube) -…
I love the guys in Animation team, they are so kind and funny. I enjoyed the music and dance. The hotel is great, litte retro but everybody is nice. Food is ok, not so many choices. All clean. Garden is beautiful.
I was in this hotel with My family and friends. Hotel is decent and It is, like You go somewhere to retro hotel. One great thing, which We love was a beach nearly hotel. It is a best beach, which We was still in Egypt. Also, I have played sometimes on piano at the evening not just for My friends, but also for tourists and for hotel personal too. Maybe, I'll return back to this hotel sometimes at the future.
I visited this hotel many times. Always I was excited by beatifull garden. Beach is very big. Rooms are older but sufficient. Cleaning takes place every day. There was plenty of food in the restaurant inside the hotel and on the beach too. This year I am planning to comeback and I hope, that there will be the pleasant young man Keroles in the main restaurant. He was always respectful. When the cups were missing for breakfast, he always brought them to us with smile.
Restaurant and bar in the hotel are really amazing. The restaurant is very nice and clean. The food options are great for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The staff is very polite and professional. They speak fluent german and english. The bar serves great variety of quality drinks. It is very clean and relaxing and the staff is always very kind and helpful. The whole place is amazing and very enjoyable.
