First visit to Hurgharda since 2015, but regular users if TUI Blue so a natural choice for us Arrived around 11pm, slick check in albeit no welcome drink, quickly to our room which was very well placed on the 500 corridor, we did not bother with the late arrival snack facilities Room very spacious, walk in shower, safe, fridge with soft drinks & beer, tea/coffee/water Tv etc - maybe could have done with 2/3 more drawers. Quickly on to Wi-Fi which stayed very reliable throughout our stay. Room was very well cleaned everyday Hotel has extensive eating options, buffet, 5 a la cartes within plan + a payable sea food option In addition has afternoon tea room, shisha cafe, cocktail bar, sports loping and pub, pool bar with swim up option, beach bar , upstairs terrace bar and main reception bar which is 24 hours albeit not for alcohol Food offerings include Mediterranean, Indian, Egyptian, Greek & Turkish barbecue. Buffet is extensive for all of breakfast lunch and dinner, but can get a bit ‘samey’ Bars have reasonable range of drinks with one or two noticeable absentees - sparkling wine, Baileys, Tia Maria Two large pools with segments such as kids pools with a large separate jacuzzi Lots of sunbeds, traditional style, some with individual sun screens, those on the beach with thick cushions - in water seating, hammock , Egyptian cushioned area plus dotted around they have Bali Beds & mattresses . Many sunbeds at the pool are located under fixed wooden shading, so very few individual umbrellas . Very noticeable the towel hut and pool bar were active well before their stated time each day - the towels were really nice and thick and long - well Egyptian towels are one of their specialities We would have preferred to see the pools and outside restaurants as no -smoking with dedicated smoking areas made a short distance away, as we have experienced at other TUI Blue Hotels Hotel has extensive gardens , plants, trees all of which are superbly maintained The TUI Blue rep suggested we should do small tipping everyday, but we don’t carry cash around and we left our tipping to the end. We did not notice any element of poor service during our stay as a result of this There are lots of mosquitos around and they took a shine to my wife but she got off mildly compared to some - hotel did provide some precautionary plug ins but the vulnerable areas seem to be outside morning breakfast tables and the barbecue restaurant The TUI Blue team are extremely busy on a wide range of activities - from our perspective the music for much of the time was simply too loud as it was of boom, boom, boom ! We did not take any excursions nor use the spa Went to cocktail, and cooking classes which were interesting Guests can also access the water park and its bar a couple of hotels away along the beach just by showing your wristband - again we did not use Small range of retail inside the hotel with a pretty large shopping centre directly opposite Everything was fantastic until we went to the Fruit Festival held at the pool bar as from this we are 99% sure we picked up the dreaded Egyptian tum which spoilt our last 2/3 days and made the journey home challenging. But we made it. Would we recommend the hotel, despite the medical issue, yes, we are usually careful but with hindsight we let our guard down! We came across a good few other guests with similar issues , some had been confined to their rooms for a couple of days or had reverted to simple diet Would we revisit, probably not. I am conscious of the trouble in the world today but Hurghada airport was horrendous. It is very clean, modern, with plenty of space and excellent signage. But it’s processes are simply cumbersome - full security checks just to get in and then repeated after checkin. Staff were simply rude and kept confiscating items without any sensible reason with the ladies really suffering as such as 50ml deodorants were taken from them…
