The staff was very friendly and the architecture of the hotel very appealing (Arabic style). Only one pool was heated (unfortunately not the main one), though. The family rooms with two separate bedrooms are very convenient. Sometimes there was no warm water in the shower, however and the floors were not cleaned thoroughly. All in all we really enjoyed our stay, though. The hotel had an authentic Egyptian touch to it, which we really enjoyed. Be aware that you only have free wi-fi in the lobby, though…

Just got back home from 2weeks here over Christmas and New Year. First impressions were good. Lovely hotel set in wonderful grounds right on the beach. Nice size rooms, a little dated but perfectly clean and comfortable. Did find general information lacking, only had restaurant times etc shown on TV. Good points: wonderful large pool centrally set, but unfortunately was far too cold to use, didn’t see anyone use it the whole 2 weeks. The animation team: what wonderful guys, worked really hard to keep the guests entertained and make people feel individually special. They did a excellent job with shows etc, but were clearly on a very tight budget. Oh the bad things: we had the all inclusive package, but it was the worst all inclusive package we had ever come across!! First morning realised that you get just one sachet of coffee (yes just 1 cup) each per week. Was furious about this as we thought it was so incredibly mean. Soon discovered that it certainly was not “all inclusive” extras that you had to pay for all over the place. Food: again the worst experience ever. Tasteless luke warm food served in the main restaurant. No food or snacks anywhere after 9pm. You get 2 al la carte tickets per week, but apart from the ambience and being served by a waiter, didn’t find the food any better. I fact the oriental gave me a terrible stomach upset, but found that the pharmacist on site is excellent, but that one meal cost me 300 Egyptian pounds in medication. After a few days found it better to have burger and chips every day at the pool bar as at least it was hot! Alcoholic drink: I spent the whole 2 weeks without. Tried the cocktails which were watery, the local spirits tasted like I should be cleaning the toilet with them. Hindsight: did discover after about a week that one of the smaller pools was heated. Great news but have to get up early to get a sunbed there…… so 2 weeks and never able to use a pool. VIP all inclusive, for £15 per day, you could get decent drinks, and snacks after 9……. Would not pay this out of principal

Discussions involving the respective team members and management have taken place to review your comments, and we would like to assure you that all of your concerns will be addressed and attended to. we are deeply sorry to hear that you felt poorly during your stay and not being immediately informed as we would have called a doctor for check up, however we would like to take the opportunity to point out that our hotel, like all the hotels of our group, undergoes regular independent audits sent both by the company and the tour operators we collaborate with to ensure our strict food safety management procedures, imposed on a global level by the company, are being followed and respected at all times; under no circumstances would we put our guests health at risk, their safety being of course our main concern, we sincerely hope that you are totally recovered as we speak. However we also regret that our buffet couldn´t meet your expectations, mainly because the quality and the diversity of our culinary offer counts to our strengths. We take your comments regarding our cuisine very seriously, because we wish that our gastronomy remains a very special treat for our guests. We remember having stayed at Accor’s Sofitel resort in Hurghada some years ago, and the property holds great memories. Though Accor down-flagged the resort from its luxury Sofitel brand to the midscale Mercure brand, the grounds and buildings remain largely unchanged. Linens and bedding are high quality, and the staff is friendly and eager to please. Two of the front-office staff (Alina and Marina) went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, and were good resources when questions arose. During our visit in late December and January, occupancy was low so the staff-to-guest ratio was high, ensuring especially quick and efficient service. The resort is older but still in good condition. Both room-only and all-inclusive options are available, and prices are quite reasonable. Most guests are Europeans on package tours and took advantage of the all-inclusive offer. Access to the property is security controlled, as at most resorts in the region. Food quality and selection is quite good, though not what we recall from the resort’s Sofitel days. This is probably the most noticeable downgrade. Cocktails utilize domestic Egyptian liquors, which are not very good. There is one bar (Ultra Bar) pouring foreign alcohol, available for a surcharge. It features upgraded seating, a nice atmosphere and a continental breakfast. All considered, for the comfortable, clean rooms, heated pool, beautiful grounds and private beach, we recommend the Accor Mercure in Hurghada.

Nice hotel in a nice location. Rooms are Clean but requires renovation. Friendly staff. I stayed bed and breakfast basis. Food was ok. But it was not as hot as it should be No Internet in room which is a down point They have a heated pool, unfortunately the weather was too cold to be able to be able to enjoy it. Overall nice experience
