This hotel is a little gem in Santa Cruz. The garden is a good place to chill and the staff can help you organise anything you would like to do (including camping on one of the beaches). The kitchen is fully equipped and the beds are very comfortable.
If you’re looking for a really cheap place to stay, then maybe you’d like this place. I say, spend a little more for a better experience. This place had good reviews, but there were too many cockroaches for me. We left and found somewhere else to stay.
As other people have already said the location of Vista al Mar is excellent! We stayed for 4 nights and the service was everything you could want for the price you pay. We had to add an extra night too and the host was very accommodating to that need. We would definitely recommend it as a place to stay. I think we were room 2 which was really near the reception area and we could hear everything that anyone said within the communal areas but it was not at any crazy times so all good. We also had air con in the room which was a must for me!
We spent two different nights in two different rooms. First room was room no.4 and it was situated inside of the complex with the view to the garden, spacious and clean. Second room was room no.1, also spacious situated right next to the entry to the reception and that one could be a little bit cleaner, it was not the end of the world, but still(especially the cover for a bed could have been washed better). What I really did not like was that it had covered mold on the wall and was extremely noisy. Both nights served its purpose, but if we needed to stay longer, I would be probably really bothered by this. The staff however was very friendly and kind, happy to help with everything. Both rooms had a good hot shower (you appreciate this in Galapagos). The part of the complex was also a equipped kitchen and spacious tables outside. Also, the cold and hot water to refill your bottle. I also liked that they had bins for recycling. All for good price.…
This hostel is definately great place to stay in Puerto Ayora. First the price is definately fine in contrast to other places and the location is well and close the center. Second is that the place is well equipped: hot water in showers, comfortable kitchen, free water for drinking, clean and big rooms. Third and in my opinion most important the family that manage this hostel. These people are so nice and friendly that makes you feel at any time like you are at home. I enjoyed staying there and recommend anyone who gets to Puerto Ayora with some budget to consider staying there.
We stayed with the four of us in a 5-person apartment. Everyday the room was cleaned and we got new towels if we wanted. There is a nice garden and a kitchen with all you need. Very kind persons are running the place and they are willing to help you with everything. No better place than to stay here in Santa Cruz.
Warm welcome and good location for a good start in Galapagos. Descent quality/price and access to the main activities of Galapagos. Bycicle ans all snorkeling equipements available. Wifi ok. Muchas gracias
The best thing about this place is its location on Avenida Baltra, just steps from the great street that closes to traffic every night and turns into a seafood-eating paradise. It’s also a short walk to the intra-island ferry dock. In other ways, it was pretty undistinguished. Our room was clean but plain, and we were mildly annoyed to find the reception desk unmanned almost every time we passed it. This is not a terrible choice for lodging, but we liked the Hospedaje Germania (where we’d also stayed for one night) more
This hostal was located close to the beach. Very convenience to walk around. Restaurants, tour agencies, pharmacy were within a walking distance. The pier for cruise and daily tour are very close right around the corner. The facilities of the hostal were acceptable. However, the shower was not strong enough. A Bed was okay. The Wifi was very slow(typical for the internet in the Galapagos) Staffs were nice and friendly.
First impressions at the dilapidated entrance gate are not good but the staff are friendly and the rooms clean. Our room which was described as having a garden view in fact looked out on an alcove where the recycling bins and a bicycle were stored, a minor matter. More seriously our roof leaked during a rainy period and my wife was woken at 2.00 am when she was getting wet from rain leaking through the ceiling. The ceiling leaked in 5 separate places which indicates a general lack of maintenance. I don’t expect a palace for US$40 per night but this place is overpriced for what’s offered. I would not stay here again nor recommend it to others. I am sure there are better places for a similar amount in Puerto Ayora.
