Jean's Home is a small B&B located on a point called "Punta Estrada", on Santa Cruz, Galapagos Islands -----Brief History----- The original house was built by Jean Blaha, an American settler who arrived on the islands in the 70's. She decided to build her home with her own hands, patiently moving lava-rock by lava-rock. In the 90's Jean passed away without completely finishing the construction. She left the house to her friend and current owner Gundi Schreyer, who decided to call it "Jean's Home" in memory and honor of Jean. -----Accommodations:----- The main house consists out of three rooms and a kitchen-living-room area. The kitchen is there for the guests to use and is fully equipped with refrigerator, electric stove, microwave, coffee-machine, pots and pans and everything needed. There is also a television in the living-room. There are three rooms connected directly to the main house. Each of the rooms has air-conditioning and a private bathroom with hot water. There are also two bungalows for up to three people, each with a private bathroom and a small kitchen (the bungalows do not have air-conditioning but several fans and big windows instead). The B&B is surrounded by a natural garden with mostly native and endemic plants. -----Location:----- Jean's Home is located on a point of the island at the end of "Academy Bay" and can be reached by water-taxi. These are available 24/7 and take only a few minutes to get to the point. The neighborhood is a very peaceful place, as there are no cars (only pedestrian pathways) and it is not located in the center of the town. There is a beautiful beach very close by and also a natural crack with cool brackish water where you can swim, only 15-20 minutes away from the B&B. We also have a few restaurants located directly on the point.

As others have said, this place is outstanding. The owner, Gundi, couldn't be more helpful. Leading up to our arrival we exchanged several emails. She was more than happy to answer all of my questions about the islands and the city. She met us at the pier when we arrived to be su

Jean's Home has a wonderful quiet location, away from the bustle of Puerto Ayora yet only ten minutes from the central dock via water taxi. A five-minute walk takes you to a small, calm beach where you can see marine iguanas, sealions, pelicans and crabs. Also nearby is a pleasan

What a great place Jean's Home is! And it is not only about the place: it is Gundi - the host, history, peace, relax.... Let me tell you about it. We stayed there with 3 kids. My husband was like a camel carrying the backpacks and bags, but it was worth the effort :o). Jean's hom

Really nice house where you feel like you are at home. Breakfast was very tasty and Gundi was looking after us very well. The bed was comfortable and the room spacious. It is very quiet there because you can only get there by ferry and there is not motorized traffic on that part

Isolated from the hassle of the town, yet only a small walk away from the dinghies that bring you there. We enjoyed quiet nights in a truly comfy house. Next to the town's nicest beach and hosted by Gundi, the best hostess.

The are family rooms and bungalows. In both cases you h

Hi, This place is beautiful! I am very interested in possibly renting this space for my prospective trip to the Galapagos in mid April to beginning of May. I was wondering how much per night this accommodation is, and I noticed that it is a pet friendly space. Based on my research, I thought that the Galapagos do not allow domestic pets into their environment. Is this true? Thank you so much.
indeed , no pets can be carried into the Galapagos. But the residents in the islands have pets. They need to be controlled by vets and sterilized. Bear in mind that 97 percent of the land surface in galapagos is a national park. Puerto Ayora, where this property is, is part of the 3% excluded from the National Park.

"the rooms in the house have air conditioning, the villas do not"
"The main house is perfect for families. One bedroom has a kingsize bed, the other queen size and two single beds."
"All you can hear is the sea and the birds in the morning. There are no roads but you can get a water taxi just buy waving your arm and be in the town in a few minutes. We stayed in the main building but you can request a private bungalow if you wish."
"You can stay in a room in the main house or a self contained bungalow in the garden. We stayed in a room in the house and it was great, but you might have slightly more privacy in one of the self contained bugalows."
"The rooms in the main house give you extra time with the hostess, Gundi, as she fixes breakfast for those staying in the main house. The bungalows are awesome as well"
