My stay was wondeful. The room was large, quiet and comfortable. The food was delicious and plentiful. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The property has some little paths to walk. The dog, Sava, was very sweet and smart She likes to play fetch. I love my stay!
For a boutique property (9 total rooms I believe), the amenities and service are outstanding. Communication in advance of your visit is excellent. Arrive with a smile from Cattya who manages the property so well, and she also functions like a personal concierge offering to make various reservations, taxi calls, and educate you on the best places to visit and dine. Rooms are well appointed, we were upgraded to top floor of the main house, room 9, which has a fantastic view all around. The smaller lower level rooms in the Finch House are nice too with a hammock and walk out straight to the tortoises; but we definitely enjoyed the upgrade. The wood finishes are a little more island-rustic than a resort hotel, but that is part of the charm. Plenty of spots to lounge outside your room too. The classic jazz playing in the main living/dining areas, the yoga/workout bungalow, the wrap-around porches with hammocks, the short hiking trails to watch tortoises... Food at the hotel was better than most of the restaurants in town. Super fresh fish, fruits, juices, veggies; and no worries about intestinal issues whatsoever. We were glad we decided to stay away from the town bustle, and it is just a 20 min taxi to everything. On our last night we dined at the best hotel, the Finch Bay, and walked the property. That place is beautiful as well, situated on a private point closer to town, and much bigger of course, handling National Geographic tours. We would have stayed there if not at SV; the new wing and pool is gorgeous and modern. The service there was not as consistent however, at least for our dinner; which is part of the trade-off for size and predictability. It is not the Ritz Carlton so don't expect that. But if you are open to a unique, quiet, relaxing experience with personal attention that you won't find at the larger hotels, book Semilla Verde. From a typically critical luxury traveler, that is high praise; it was well earned!…
We stayed in room number 9. Views were great. Service was great. Food was great. Staff was friendly and accommodating. They took care of us every step of the way. The tortoises on property were so fun to watch.
We loved our experience at Semilla Verde. The entire staff was so welcoming and friendly. We loved the animals on site - the giant tortoises, and the resident cat and dog :) ! We enjoyed going for walks on the property's paths and spending time in the pool after a long day of exploring the Galapagos. We appreciated the relaxing and quiet vibe of the highlands area, which is a taxi ride to Puerto Ayora. Thank you for a trip of a lifetime!!
We chose Semilla Verde based on the glowing reviews and they did not disappoint! The location is stunning. Miles of hiking trails on the property, where you see all manner of vegetation, land turtles and many very tame birds. The cuisine is outstanding and the host is charming, helpful and friendly. We stayed in the Finch wing were we had a spacious room, lovely balcony and stellar view of the property. We were there at the end of our Galapagos journey, just as Ecuador was closing its’ borders, so we needed to cut our stay there short. I hope that one day we will be able to return.
