Enjoy your stay in San Cristobal!
Casa Iguana Mar y Sol is a delightful bed and breakfast on San Cristobal run by Patricia George and Don Luis. The house as well as all of the furniture in the house was built by Luis. The hand carved doors and shutters with local themes are strikingly unique and a visual feast for the eye. The convenient location to town and the sea breeze flowing through the well cross ventilated rooms are added benefits. There is very quiet air conditioning as well and hot water in the shower that does not run out! We spent 3 nights in the Tortuga Suite and loved every minute of our stay. Vegans will be happy to hear that Patricia (a vegan herself) can provide vegan breakfast options. Luis grows organic coffee and roasts it himself. We purchased some of the delicious coffee to take back. Patricia is super accommodating and a good source of information about the island. Staying at this B&B was a relaxing and wonderful experience and I would recommend this establishment to anyone who wants a non run-of–the-mill place to stay. If you want to enjoy a comfortable stay in a beautiful house that is like a work of art to behold, look no further than Casa Iguana Mar y Sol!…
Casa Iguana Mar y Sol is a wonderful place to stay while visiting San Cristobal. It is a little distance away ( like 3 minutes) to the main area which makes it very quiet. The rooms are very large, extremely clean and have whatever you would need. Casa is owned and run by Luis. We can not say enough positives about him. While his English is somewhat limited (better than my Spanish) he goes out of this way to help in any way he can. He is warm, generous, always with a smile and good word. His coffee is fabulous. We feel very lucky to have stayed in Casa and to have met Luis.
We stayed at this B & B and were very pleased with the suite. It was immaculate and very clean and location was great. Owner was very friendly and helpful. Everything appeared to be hand carved, very clean. The owner was very helpful and gave us a few suggestions about where to go and how to get there.
My wife and I recently stayed at Casa Iguana Mar y Sol. The hotel is in an excellent location, about a 5 min walk from a sea lion colony and area hotels. The room was spacious and quite comfortable. It had a nice, comfortable bed with a sitting room. We had an excellent review of the sunset from the terrace on the floor just above our room. We were met by the wonderful Luis - who helped us with many of our travel needs and took care of us when my wife was ill. He prepared great breakfasts and showed us where to book a great day trip to Isla Lobos. Luis was awesome. We were the only the guests for a few nights and he was always there to help us. He does not speak English-but we got by with my Spanish. Regardless, he was warm, thoughtful, and attentive. A great host. He prepared excellent breakfasts including fresh eggs (organic), fruits, toast, and juice. He even gave us a few beers the first night of our stay. Interestingly, Luis built all of the wood structures in the hotel. Impressive craftsmanship! Patricia, who speaks English, was not in the Galapagos during our stay. However, we spoke before our visit to the Galapagos. She gave me lots of information about the town, where to eat, places to visit, information about the hotel, etc. Very informative and appreciated. I believe the phone call lasted 30-45 min. Dedication to her clients for sure. Overall, I give the hotel 5 stars. The place is very nice, ideally located, and hosted by two dedicated people.…
We loved staying with Luis at Casa Iguana. What a lovely building and gardens. Rooms are beautifully appointed and comfortable. We enjoyed fruit from Luis’ farm for breakfast each morning, and of course his coffee, grown and roasted by Luis. Lovely! Luis was very easy going, individualising breakfast times to accommodate guest itineraries, and doing our laundry, which was very much appreciated in the sweaty Galapagos. Luis does not speak very much English and our Spanish is non existent! This did not hold us back. Google Translate helped out and we had lots of fun trying to communicate. Hasta la vista Luis!
