His is a review of tow hotels: the one in which you sleep; the other in which you eat, drink, and watch the world go by. The first hotel is pretty dreary--a Titoesque relic from the good old Cold War days--spartan ill-lit, a place to hurry from. The second hotel--the ground floor where Reception nis, the restaurants, the outdoor cafe, the river running alongside the hotel, , the tree-shaded park, the people watching, the downtown bustle, and the server staff is delightful. . The kitchen is excellent (pastas, and seafood especially). the wait staff friendly, although their English is very limited. The hotel itself is a gorgeous relic of a 1880s Austro-Hungarian gilded age. I was an inadvertent guest at the hotel for 16 days while mu wife lay nearly comatose hospital with a brain injury. She survived. So did I.…
Hotel is a little run down and is not really given any love or attention by owners. The room is a little outdated and bathrooms are dull..If you are looking for a "retro communist" experience this could be an option.... The internet does not work on the top floors or in either end of the hotel - so look for a room on top of the reception if you need internet..... They know of the issue, but there is apparantly no interest in spending a few hundred euros for 3-4 strong routers to take of the issue..... Only thing which was nice was the breakfast.... reasonable selections of good quality.
Hotel Continental is a well established hotel about 10 minutes walk from the bus station. I booked directly with the hotel and my standard room with a queen sized bed was small, although adequate for a night or two. Many foreign TV channels available. The bed was firm and excellent. The in-room safe did not work but as I stayed one night only, I was not bothered. I had access to a very big balcony from my room. The balcony is shared with two other rooms, but it seemed I had the balcony alone. The hotel’s restaurant served excellent food with lots of choices. Open air restaurant or in-door seating. Breakfast was delicious and varied and the service impeccable.
Centrally located and in walking distance to the harbor, this is an average 3-star hotel. They have free private parking on the street which are locked by chains, hence you have to find "wild" parking, go into the hotel to get the key, unlock the chain, then park the car properly - a bit of a nuisance but not too bad. Room and bathroom are quite small, no minibar, no safe, but A/C. Staff are very friendly, breakfast is mediocre at best.
Historical 3-star hotel in the centre of Rijeka. Beautiful building. It was built in the late 19th century. The location is perfect. Very friendly and helpful staff. Clean room (standard 2-person room) with airconditioning, but also a very small bathroom. The interior needs renovation and is too old-fashioned for my taste.
Service is amazing, fast and correct! Food is delicious. Would love a bit more ketchup but food overall is amazing! Very nice environment and location. Bus Station and beautiful city promenade Korzo nearby. My experience was amazing and will come again for sure!
The hotel is in need of refurbishment. Service friendly far from the standard of a European city. Lack of any printed information on events in town (only in Croatian language). The restaurant has a really short and poor menu. Good location.
It is nice hotel, good food and perfec location. You can feel like at home. Services is good. Also, the price is low. The rooms are confort. There is also a conference room and all what you need for good meeting.
The location of the hotel is just great! and they have a decent breakfast. But everything else is just unacceptable. The hotel is very old and worn. including furniture, carpets, towels, and all. There's no soundproofing so we could barely sleep at night from the street noise although we were on a relatively high floor. The bathtub was my nightmare. There was no shower curtain, only a movable half window like thing, that didn't stop water from splashing and flowing from the edges to the floor to end up with a flood of water outside the tub every time you take a shower. The front desk employee for the night shift could be nicer! I don't want him to be my friend but he could just be a bit nicer.
It wasn't recommended by any of locals who had assisted me during reservation, yet this a bit outdated and neglected hotel offered me what I truly needed - excellent, central location, spacious room with even quite a cool bathroom, free parking and fantastic bar on its corner (I will write about it separately). Top of that, the breakfast was just fantastic although it could be also part of mentality - in our SEE region I almost always find what I like while struggling often at much better, posher places elsewhere. What can they do to make things better? May in Rijeka this year was wet and rainy for all 31 days, and that's reflecting on the staff's mood - they should be somehow motivated to show best of themselves. My room certainly needs some refurbishment and also extra details - it looks really sober and cold, not alike lovely coast and especially Rijeka's spirit and openness!…
