CITY AND BUSINESS 4 STAR HOTEL IN RIJEKA, CROATIA Perfectly located in the heart of Rijeka, right on the Korzo, and 5 minutes walk away from the port with its trendy bars, Bonavia is the best hotel in Rijeka for business and weekend getaways. All museums, interesting churches and monuments worth seeing are at a walking distance. Bonavia is a hotel with over 140 years long tradition and whether you've come for business or pleasure, you'll love your comfy room, with great Wi Fi and comfortable beds with hard mattresses. Bathrooms are snug, but well kept and spotless. If you can, choose a room with a balcony on the upper floors, as the sea view alone is worth it and you get a nice seating area outside to enjoy the sunsets. Gym is intimate, with a nice and clean wellness area, saunas and massages. Breakfasts are good and varied, with fruits, cheese, cold cuts, croissants, and biscuits spread out or served by kind and helpful personnel. Eggs prepared to your liking, of course.

We - party of 3; 2 - 40 year olds and 1 - 70 year old, for Advent 2019. We had one room, 2 double beds and a couch that converted to a bed. The room overall was spacious, allowed for us to spread out. Had a funky odor, that we couldn't identify. Thankfully we were able to open the windows, which was also useful since we couldn't turn down the thermostat and the room was quite warm. Good size bathroom - long. The shower, use the shower handle vs leaving the head attached to the wall. With only a half-wall glass 'door,' all 3 of us flooded the bathroom during our first shower. Then we got the hang of it. The towel warmer worked great. Also warmed up the bathroom...to the point it got hot. We couldn't figure out how to turn it off. Location was perfect - right in the heart of Rijeka. Breakfast buffet was plentiful and good. Just watch hours of service during the week. We were given one set of times for the buffet, which turned out to be weekend only. Missed breakfast on our last day - a Monday - as it ended earlier.

I stayed here for 7 weeks. In the 1st week I had a 1 person room and that was a bit small with no decent place to keep my clothes. Later I changed to a double room and this was ok, the desk was very small so difficult to do some work in your room. The bathroom was not my favourite. It had a bath and the step was high (even with my 1.82). When I stepped out the bath there was a constant fear to slip also because the floot was wet. If the should take out the bath and replace for a shower it would be a huge improvement. Breakfast was good, the only downside was that after 7 weeks the staff still didn’t know your room number. As mentioned the hotel is in the center and staying there in December and January meant a lot of festivals in front of the hotel with loud music. During these months maybe a room in the back would be an idea. For the rest it was a good experience and a friendly helpful frontdesk staff.

The best positioned hotel in the center of the town, just close to Korzo, main pedestrian street. I found the car parking very easy, in front of the hotel. The room was excellent, breakfast too, and the staff more then excellent.

For us still remembering old Yugoslavia when we were kids and observing world with 'wide open eyes', this place resembles so many hotels on the Adriatic coast which astonished and amazed us then with their unique presence and monumental existence. That era passed long time ago, and we can feel sometimes quite tiny sentiments, which stop after actually entering and visiting those places; just like any magic which has to stop at some point. Therefore, the outside impression is biased by childhood memories while actual experience and staying in are something truly different. Bonavia is currently probably the most active and renowned hotel in Rijeka but I booked it only because one reason - its location. Not from perspective of its excellent central location literally overlooking main pedestrian zone, but because I had some work to do nearby. Still, its location is exceptional and that's surely unbeatable. All other things - staff, services, room, sleeping quality, bathroom... - are pretty correct but nothing special, and you may either focus on them and spoil your stay, or just let it go and enjoy so many positive aspects of Rijeka and this urban landmark. Just one example to conclude with - they have some quite 'complex' electrical system in the room which I couldn't figure out during my stay. I was a bit embarrassed to ask them how to turn it on fully, so I've actually used lighting only in the small hallway and bathroom - all other areas in dark during night! :)
