It’s a mass tourist hotel catering to large tour groups. Not sure why every tour group wants to depart at 8 am but this creates chaos at breakfast. Coffee is poor quality and breakfast is below par. Bumbling staff are friendly and helpful but not really efficient.
The original room we were given was dreadful, we asked for a replacement only to be told they were full. Strange that rooms showed available on booking.com! When we mentioned this we were given the opportunity to upgrade to a suite for an extra fee that we gladly paid. What a difference! space, superb view, long terrace balcony, coffee machine etc.well worth it. This completely altered our experience but unfortunately it is still a mass tourist hotel with poor breakfast.

Good hotel, close to the beach, restaurants and shops.
The room was Oke but the balcony was very small, not even close to the pictures. Only one chair stuck in the balcony. That small.
Also de window shields didn’t close so there was light in the room from 6am.
Room was old but fine, with a nice bathroom and little seaview.
Breakfast was included in the roomprice a €150 but nothing special.
Parking was not included in the price and in public parking elsewhere a €20 a day.
All in all an expensive place to stay. But all of Opatija is.

A bit mixed. We had two rooms. One (twin) was larger, with a nice balcony (sea view) and everything worked. One (double) was small, no view, with a broken shower, dubious a/c. Both clean and presentable. Breakfast was reasonable buffet (though unpleasant auto mix “juice”). Location good - possible to walk everywhere (Volosko about 45min lovely walk along the sea front). No “beach front” as such but you can walk down the steps and swim off the rocks for free - or hire a deckchair etc. Only three parking spots (17 eur / day) - otherwise find a public bay somewhere on the big one way loop. Staff helpful, nice biscuits and lemon water in reception.

There was plenty of ants on the second floor. In the bed.. everywhere.
Our room was also very hot (26) as the air conditioning did not work and our baby could not sleep. The receptionists did not now that the system was not active for the season and we moved room with our baby in the middle of the night, to another room without an air condition but at least without ants.
We got a very small discount for the trouble but we hardly slept. Service, staff, view, dinner buffet and breakfast was great. Ants, temperature and the poor discount was horrible

The location of this hotel is excellent with beautiful views of the Adriatic Sea from front-facing rooms, patio and ground level. With many choices, breakfast is wonderful and plentiful. Staff is courteous and kind. Rooms - at least the one I experienced- are spartan and small, a bit outdated, but serviceable. I had a wonderful tiny balcony I could step onto to view the sea and that was gorgeous. Linens were clean. Bed was acceptable but not incredibly comfortable. And the photos on the website do not reflect the room I stayed in. Mine was not nearly so posh. I was there with Gate 1 and the hotel was ok but not as nice as anticipated. But the town was pretty and I enjoyed my stay. Definitely no more than a three star.

This hotel is in a great location walking distance to all things in town. The rooms are clean and decent size. The bathrooms are ok with great water pressure and hot water. Make sure to book a room with a balcony. Balcony due to no AC in the hotel and you will need the breeze, hot as you know what…. The hotel advertises AC and there is a dial to adjust temp but it is only a fan. Was 80 in our room. We did not have a balcony and regretted it. Also, no blackout curtains so bring night mask to cover your eyes for sleeping.

The hotel is on the main street and close to everything. Room was large and comfortable.
Service was friendly and efficient bed very good and we slept well. The buffet breakfast was excellent.
Parking is difficult so check with the hotel where to go.
Make a reservation if you want to eat in the hotel. The restaurant was almost empty so we did not and it turned out everything was booked by a tour group.

Absolutely great hotel with excellent position and great staff - always helpful and professional and ready to assist. Like many of the other reviews, we had the same experience. The hotel room had no discernible air conditioning. The hotel staff couldn’t do anything about it. It is an old hotel. We opened the window at night to let in cooler air (thankfully we visited in late September so it was cooler) but the noise from outside was very loud and kept us up until about midnight. I cannot imagine staying at this hotel in the summer. It would be unbearable. The beds were extra firm so that also made it difficult to sleep. On the positive side, the staff was friendly and the breakfast was delicious.

Hotel with a great location with sea view. Easy seaside walk to multiple beaches restaurants, etc .Professional, friendly and helpful staff and very good but typical breakfast and good dinner as well . Room and common areas clean

I didn't really like this hotel as I mentioned in my review, if you Google hotels in Opatija, the Design hotel comes up, giving you all the information about the hotel. But there are much nicer hotels nearer the town centre than this for the same price
