The hotel is on the main street and close to everything. Room was large and comfortable. Service was friendly and efficient bed very good and we slept well. The buffet breakfast was excellent. Parking is difficult so check with the hotel where to go. Make a reservation if you want to eat in the hotel. The restaurant was almost empty so we did not and it turned out everything was booked by a tour group.
Good hotel, close to the beach, restaurants and shops. The room was Oke but the balcony was very small, not even close to the pictures. Only one chair stuck in the balcony. That small. Also de window shields didn’t close so there was light in the room from 6am. Room was old but fine, with a nice bathroom and little seaview. Breakfast was included in the roomprice a €150 but nothing special. Parking was not included in the price and in public parking elsewhere a €20 a day. All in all an expensive place to stay. But all of Opatija is.
This hotel is in a great location walking distance to all things in town. The rooms are clean and decent size. The bathrooms are ok with great water pressure and hot water. Make sure to book a room with a balcony. Balcony due to no AC in the hotel and you will need the breeze, hot as you know what…. The hotel advertises AC and there is a dial to adjust temp but it is only a fan. Was 80 in our room. We did not have a balcony and regretted it. Also, no blackout curtains so bring night mask to cover your eyes for sleeping.
If Tripadvisor had a "Good" rating between Average and Very Good, I would pick it for this hotel. The location is good, near lots of shopping, restaurants, and an easy walk along the shore to most of the nice places in Opatija. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room and its facilities, however, were a bit on the worn-out side. The Air Conditioning control in our room (301) was a complex mess. Not only did it have numerous sliders, switches, and dials, but the markings were largely worn off the plastic, so it was a guessing game to figure out what they were for. After struggling with it for a while, I called the desk and someone came to help me get it working. They set the switches and sliders and dials so that it should have come on, but it didn't. After working on it for a while, we discovered that rattling the door out to the balcony would make it work. Like many of these systems, it would shout off if the door was open. However, the old door didn't fit all that well in the old frame, so the switch was inconsistent. Second problem: The in-room safe had no instructions. It just had a number pad that looked like a telephone pad. No "lock" or "reset" buttons. I tried putting in a code then hitting "#" or "*", but the display just said "ERROR". I tried a lot of different things, but nothing worked. I called the desk, and someone came up to help. Turned out that they didn't know how the safe worked either. Some hours later, I decided to try a 6-digit code (followed by "#"), and it worked! No points to the hotel on making the safe a useful feature of the room, though. Bottom line: Adequate but dated room, good service, good location.…
There was plenty of ants on the second floor. In the bed.. everywhere. Our room was also very hot (26) as the air conditioning did not work and our baby could not sleep. The receptionists did not now that the system was not active for the season and we moved room with our baby in the middle of the night, to another room without an air condition but at least without ants. We got a very small discount for the trouble but we hardly slept. Service, staff, view, dinner buffet and breakfast was great. Ants, temperature and the poor discount was horrible
Although this is an old hotel, it is well done up and pleasing hotel to stay in. The bedroom is small but I do like the decoration. The bath & toilet is clean. TV has quite a number of English program. No water or kettle provided in the room but basic amenities were provided. We had dinner & breakfast in the hotel restaurant. The buffet dinner was actually good especially the pasta which was delicious. Breakfast is good but spread limited though.
This is a good hotel with great staff, bar onto the terrace, ok parking and pleasant rooms with a sea view (if you chose that) lift from street to bar makes life easy for disabled people. But it is Zeljko, who runs the restaurant that is the star, fun kind considerate, he makes the hotel special for all, specially those in a wheelchair
We stayed there in the first half of September when not so crowded in Opatija and when the weather is still warm and lovely. Although the sea was somewhat colder than expected we really enjoyed long walks alond Lungomare and morning jogging. The hotel is perfectly positioned for any activity. Loved the hearty breakfast and fresh made juice you prepare of absolutely delicious fruits and veggies. Off the season, the outmost great value for money.
Average is a good description - our room was small and smelt of cigarettes despite requesting a non smoking room. Location is ok - 5-10 minute walk to the main beach area. My big issue is with the parking - none available onsite despite booking in advance and the description provided by reception staff on how to find parking at the associated Hotel Opatijia was totally useless. We asked her to show us on the map but no that couldn't be done, and we did not find her instructions very clear - with the one way traffic system we spent at least 45 minutes driving around until we finally worked out where it was. Breakfast buffet was ok but the staff were not friendly or helpful - I asked for fresh hot water for tea and that was not possible! For a town that makes its living from the tourist trade they need to do better - I would not recommend it.…
The bed in this hotel was moderately comfortable and the view from a room was pretty good; these are pretty much the only good things I can say about this place! When we arrived, we were given our room key, which didn’t work as soon as we got it. Took hotel staff several attempts to get it to work, with one member of staff resigning to ‘we’ll just let you in every time you need to get in.’ When we got into our room, the shower was broken. I found staff to be abrupt and to the point; not really what you would expect from a 4-star hotel. Guests seemed to be an inconvenience to most of them. A particular example was the maintence man walking in on me and husband in our room without knocking. The restaurant in the hotel is odd. They only serve enough food for the reservations they have for that evening so you need to make a reservation at the front desk; something that wasn’t explained to us at reception. So the waiter told us, in the middle of an empty restaurant, that they were fully booked and we were most confused! There is only 4 car parking spaces and they charge 18€ for the pleasure! Overall, I would strongly suggest booking somewhere else. …
