I just had the pleasure of staying at this lovely hotel for 7 nights on a work trip. I was pleasantly surprised to say the least. Don’t let the shabby public areas fool you as the room I had was newly renovated and very comfortable to spend a week in. The building itself is a lovely heritage building and one of the nicest in Opatija.
I was lucky enough to have a superior seaside room on the second floor. The room was spacious and well appointed with a comfortable bed. The bathroom while a little on the small side, was also well appointed with fantastic bath amenities provided.
I had a little bar fridge which enabled me to keep some drinks and milk cold throughout my stay. The room was kept spotlessly clean by the housekeeping staff. I had a couple of batches of laundry done and the lady who brought it back to my room was keen to hang everything for me and to lay everything else out on the bed. This was a lovely touch.
I had a little terrace with a table and chairs and managed to find a little time here and there to sit and admire the beautiful view. I expext that rooms on the higher floors would have an even better view.
The only criticism I have of the room is the outward swinging entrance door. This meant there were no extra locks and it left me feeling a little unsecure and perhaps, insecure as a result. I'm used to being able to double or perhaps even tiple lock a hotel room door. In this case there was only the wobbly main door handle to keep the door locked.
The biggest highlight for me each morning was the spectacular breakfast buffet. Truly, one of the best I’ve seen anywhere. They even had sparkling wine you could help yourself to and also two types of vodka to make your own Bloody Mary if you chose to. Amazing. The quality and variety of the food was phenomenal and easily one of the biggest breakfast buffets I've experienced. Breakfast was really something to look forward to and was a visual feast each day as it was so beautifully presented.
The buffets in the evening were no less spectacular also with amazing variety and quality. You can easily see the effort that’s put into these buffets. The catering staff are to be congratulated.
The hotel also has a terrace garden/bar out the front and we made use of this in the evening to have a cocktail after a hard day’s work.
The hotel's location is excellent and is right in the middle of town with ample shops and restuarants in the surrounding area.
Another highlight for me was being able to walk across the street and swim in the Adriatic.
All in all I’d happily recommend this hotel and look forward to an opportunity to stay here again.

I'm very gratefull that I could spend romantic weekend with my husband in Heritage Hotel Imperial because everything was so perfect and we really manage to get away from busy daily life and just relax and enjoy! Staff: everyone was very polite, but not in a way that they were pretending but they are all trully nice people. They care that everything is perfectly arranged, so that guests can relax and enjoy without worries. Room and bathroom: clean, big, cozy, great mattress and many pillows. Food: nobody can stay hungry in this hotel! Big selection of tasty continental and meditteranean dishes. Spa: thank You Katarina for Your kindness and thank You Tomislav for best massages ever! Great space with whirpools, saunas and large area to relax. Parking is behind the hotel, Lungomare promenade starts one minute from the hotel, everything is in walking distance, stores, pharmacy etc. Also Imperial caffee in front of the hotel has beautiful terrace and great coffee and cocktails. Hope we'll come back again!

The imperial is grand and you can feel the sense of grandeur & style as you approach the redbrick Edwardian entrance. The hotel throughout is beautifully decorated & tasteful. Our room was spacious, comfortable and had all the mod cons we needed. The breakfast is to die for and is the best breakfast I have experienced in Europe. We stayed here as part of a honeymoon road trip and the variety & quality of food available was magnificent. The location is ideal and perfect to explore the stunning bays of optajia- the front terrace is a beautiful spot to have a drink and watch the world go by. We loved this hotel and would definitely return.

A lovely hotel in a great central position that incorporates the grandeur of the past with a modern twist. The hotel's dining room and lounge are superb examples of this with their beautiful chandeliers and elegant ceilings. The best breakfast I have had is served here with endless options whether hot or cold. The choice is enormous including the prosecco !! Staff were professional, helpful and charming. Rooms were large and comfortable with all essentials and the beds ensured a good night's sleep. Bathroom area, especially the shower, and toiletries are very good. The modern outside seating area with its ice cream parlour, patisserie and waiter service was an excellent addition and a lovely location to unwind at the end of the day and watch the world (or more precise watch Opatija) go by. Thoroughly recommend.

This was my first stay in hotel Imperial for non-business purposes, and overall I can say we were indeed very satisfied, and would gladly come again. This is indeed an old hotel, so it has it charm of former times, but was (recently) throughout refurbished and its up to the modern standards. It’s essentially a modern hotel in an old skin. Not necessarily everyone’s cup of tea, but we liked it. Location doesn’t get any more central, which as a result means you will hear some street noise, but that’s is to be expected. Service was just outstanding, everyone was very polite and more then helpful. Up to a level that after a few days you feel almost as at home. Breakfast is perfect, nothing more can be desired. Dinner is ok (we had a half board), it’s not a Michelin star quality, and there is some room for improvement, but there is a lot of variety and is certainly a good value for the money. Would take it again. Parking is a bit of a hassle as location is central, and cost extra 25Euro per day, which is the same as the costs of parking on Opatija public grounds, but just plan this and call hotel in advance. To sum up, this a great hotel in centaur of Opatija, and we are planning to come again, primarily because of excellent personal that makes us feel like home.

The rooms are dated with limited light and plugs, the king bed is 2 single beds put together. We were sitting on patio after having a couple of beer we needed something to eat and even though they have a menu there is no food. We left to eat and then came back to sit and have a game of cards. At that time we didn’t want anything to drink and were told we had to leave enough it is part of the hotel and the patio was empty. Later the cafe manager Tin came to apologize but the damage had been done by his staff. There is no where to relax in this hotel except your room. We went to the spa and the tubs were lukewarm warm with no railing to get in or out. It’s amazing how one person can make your stay questionable!

Everything is elegant, polite staff, tasty food, the rooms are spacious and clean, great shower cabins, ideal bathrooms for couples. The room offers a wonderful sea view, just a couple of minutes away from the city center and the beach. Some negative aspects are the slowly working elevators, some of the windows/carpets/stairs have some white paint on them (bad renovation works) and the coffee machine in the dining room is not a proper one for a 4**** hotel.

The hotel is located in a beautiful historic building in the center of Opatija and opposite the sea promenade. The rooms are large and comfortable with a king bed, desk, armchair, chair, TV and bar fridge. The bathroom is spacious, with a large shower, there is no bidet. The wardrobe with safe is located in the entrance hallway. Personally I preferred a room with a partial sea view, but quieter than the traffic on the main road. Breakfast and dinner are buffet style with a wide choice of international and local foods and specialties. Excellent cured meats, cheeses, milk and honey. There are two excellent automatic machines for coffee, cappuccino…. which provide delicious drinks like at the bar. The staff is kind and attentive to the customer, almost all of them speak English, Italian and German. The hotel also has a SPA and wellness center with two hydromassage tubs, sauna and Turkish bath. There is expert staff available for facial and body beauty treatments and massages. I personally had a 75-minute total body and facial massage carried out by an expert and professional beautician using excellent products. Unfortunately, it always rained during the two days of our stay, the only flaw in this holiday.
