Ok..... I will acknowledge that there are no really good hotels in Asbury Park. But I do not understand the certificate of excellence for this hotel. Let me start with the good stuff. #1 - The staff is friendly #2-The rooms appeared to be clean. Now for the bad stuff - When we arrived the room was freezing cold -... More

I made plans for a show at the Stone Pony in February, so obviously the closest hotel made sense to me. To be honest, there aren't a heck of a lot of hotels in Asbury Park. The Empress was close, I read the reviews and decided to book a room. We arrived pretty early in the day. The gentleman at... More

Stayed here prior to catching 311 at Stone Pony Summer stage. Being able to walk to the beach, to dinner, to a concert, to drinks & crepes on the boardwalk at midnight is my kinda summer day. Empress has a cool, edgy old beachy vibe and was an ideal spot to stay in Asbury without dealing w driving. Pool and... More

Disclaimer: We stayed off-season. February 2016. Laid back, cool vibes. Staff are really friendly and totally low key. The place was pretty much empty when we stayed. Rooms were clean. Now for the negative: Our room was on the fourth floor, and upon opening the door we were blasted by frigid air. Our room was maybe 50 degrees, tops. Absolutely... More

The location and scenery were nice, but the rooms are way overpriced, and parking was a nightmare. There is extremely limited parking for this hotel as the city took eminent domain over most of their parking spaces. Some staff were quite rude as well. I don't think i would recommend this place to a friend or relative.

Was directed there by another hotel chain because pet friendly. Got there late and tired. Worked out great as hotel staff was quick and courteous. Was asleep 15 minutes after arriving through doors. Would recommend to anyone passing thru Asbury.

The Empress has a pool which is open, for a small fee, to the public. I often go there to relax and order from the bar/Restaurant. It's crowded on weekends in summer, so I generally go on Tues or Wed. It's a fine, fun place, with clean pool

We make it here just about every year. Staff is friendly and rooms are very clean. The Stone Pony is about a block away and there are some good eateries right across the street. Nightlife is good, but I've only been here in the off season so it could be awesome in the summer.

I have continued to return to the Empress Hotel year after year for business, and for pleasure, simply because the staff is wonderful, the hotel is clean and always well kept. Anyone can offer a roof over your head, but not everyone always greets you with a smile, and knows you by name! That's what I get from the good... More

We loved staying at this hotel for a fun time in the sun. It was right across the street from the boardwalk and beach! Room was fine. My only suggestion is not to go on a weekend unless you like noise and to party! The nightclub there is really hopping on weekends and you can hear the music quite loudly.... More
