Hotel Kolor Boutique is a little gem of an hotel, in a quiet street in Poblado. All rooms have their individual touch and there is a lovely garden to have breakfast. The rooms are well equiped, beds are nice and the staff is super friendly.

This hotel is simple and well located, and when you get there you wonder about the boutique part. The staff is very friendly, but they were not very helpful when we asked for directions. Every room is named after a color, and I recommend you don't accept any of the rooms on the first floor since you will wake up to a group of people having breakfast. There are two kinds of rooms, we stayed in a standard room which was quite small and dark; the bathroom was quite small and uncomfortable. You may walk to a metro station assuming you like walking. Finally, booking directly instead of online will save you some money.

Our room, orange and brown so reminiscent of 1970s , was not large and instead of a bathroom had a cold water only sink behind a folded wooden screen adjacent to a tiny shower with coloured lights ( inadequate to see properly by). Storage was wholly inadequate with no wardrobe, only 3 hangers and a coat stand, together with a flimsy single shelved orange plastic cupboard. No bedside lights only one glaring central light and another over an equally flimsy desk.
The breakfast was disappointing and the minibar in the room provided a quirky selection of items, including condoms and men's aftershave!?

However, despite some traffic noise the area was quiet and safe and we heard birds in the small garden. The staff were generally friendly and helpful. It is in a good location with many bars and restaurants nearby. Additionally it is only a shortish walk,20 minutes, to the Poblado metro. Taxis are cheap here so getting around is easy.

Thank you for taking a moment of your time to tell your experience in KOLOR HOTEL BOUTIQUE. Indeed as our name says, we are a atmosphere full of color that inspires different experiences, that's what we want to convey mainly. Usually traditional constructions of many years back in our country, as is our hotel (a traditional large house with adaptations) do not have hot water in the sinks and we intentionally left it this way, our different and modern decor does not have normal closets, but enough space to store the belongings of our clients and lack of hooks should not worry, if you need more than those offered in the room you can just request them to receptionist and will gladly supplie some. We have an extensive breakfast menu, including the typical breakfast of the region, which is quite sufficient and also the ones found normally in hotels. The minibar is equipped with different kinds of snacks and items for personal hygiene. Cordially KOLOR HOTEL BOUTIQUE

I checked in we put my bags in the room I gave them my credit info and I was off to do business. I came back 8 hours later, they had moved my bags to another room that had no windows, was much smaller and said that someone else was in my room who paid more. I had the key. I told them I needed to check the room for my belongings and they told me that my things had been moved. This is a true story.

Next I looked at the new room and it was like a closet. So, I told them I wanted my money back at 11pm in Medellin Colombia with no place to stay and they told me that they would have to charge me a cancellation fee. This is a true story. Medellin has uber and Booking.com so I called an Uber driver got a different room on my phone with Booking.com and left. I had to dispute the charges from Kolor and you need to know I had stayed there before! Unfortunately they are having difficulties staying booked and keeping customers so this little about 6 room cute place is in trouble. It also is not as clean as it use to be. Hot water only works some times. Caution is a good thing here.

Mr. Wiliam Sincerely it is very sad that there are people who believe they can come to our country and do whatever they want with our business, treat as they please people who work honestly and provide them good services in our establishments. The hotel did make a mistake when we checked you in the wrong room at your arrival, that is true, this is the reason why your luggage was taken to the room you paid for, so please stop lying, if this room that you paid for was not of your liking, sorry, but those are our facilities and we are aware that there are different hotels for different tastes and needs. Mr. Wiliam it is really sad to say that the one we have to be careful with is You, we actually knew it from the first time you stayed at the hotel. We warn the neighbor hotels and acquaintances hotels that you are a non grata person. From the first time you stayed with us, you where a problem client, you hid in the bathroom your Ipad to say that it hade been stolen in the hotel, and other inconveniences that at the moment I will not mention. I will not allow people like you to damage our image and name, we gave you the best attention as we do with all our customers we demand respect!!! KOLOR HOTEL BOUTIQUE

The location of the hotel is pretty good, walking distance to parque lleras, restaurants nearby. Esmerelda was very clean, comfortable and large.

Our experience at this hotel however, was poor. My girlfriend was missing numerous pieces of clothing and her makeup bag was consistently rifled through and left open when we returned each night. The saying that the maids try on your clothes and makeup while your away definitely stuck true here.

I had an electronic razor which was either taken by the maid or she purposely did not mention that I had left it.

We checked out late, around 3pm. The maid immediately cleaned the room at 3pm. We spent a few hours at the mall and returned to wait in the hotels lobby for a few hours until 9pm. If my razor was left by the sink, the maid should have returned it, the other explanation is that she took it.

It's a very small hotel and when we were staying in it there were very few guests (I don't even remember seeing any), mostly just stuff + they always lock the main gate, so we felt safe leaving money in our room (we did hide it very well there anyway). On our last morning there we started packing and noticed that all money was gone. When we wold the stuff of the hotel about it they told us that there is nothing they can (want to) do, they even didn't apologized and acted like we did something wrong. After we talked to the police and told them we wanted to file a report and that they should at least question the stuff (because obviously it was one of them who stole our money), we were told that there is no point to file the report because basically it would be our word against theirs. I strongly recommend not to stay at this hotel, there are plenty of other options on Medellin.

Dear Guest, For us it is very disappointing that you didnā€™t have a good experience at our hotel, where every day we work to give an excellent service and where a high percentage of our customers leave with only unforgettable experiences. We explained that the hotel cannot be responsible for items of value left outside the administration safe, because we do not have a record of the valuable belongings of our clients, therefore each room have safe deposit boxes in good condition, which was not used by you. We called the police and they came to the site to indicate you what you could and should have done to in some way solve the inconvenient, did not comply with the suggestions. We have trained personnel who work every day to improve our service and are with us since our opening two years ago and had never had a case like this. We would like you to take into account the option that this incident was not necessarily a theft but rather a loss. Best Regards Paola Marquez G

From check in to check out the service was impeccable! Preferring a room with a window, I was given Esmeralda the next day, a large room with a wonderful view.
The hotel is well decorated and very clean, the linen and towels are of the best quality. Breakfast is served either indoors or outdoors in the garden. As the hotel accommodates both international and latin tourists I got to meet interesting people from the continent and from Colombia.
As a woman travelling alone I felt very safe also when I went out exploring the city at night. The neighbourhood the hotel is located in is charming, with restaurants, bars, cafes and shops.
Although it is a 15 minute walk to the metro (to get to the centre of town), with taxi prices as they are in Colombia it was no big deal.
Last but not least, the service. Juan, the owner, and the rest of the staff, went out of their way to accommodate me throughout my week stay in the hotel. I was provided with maps of the city, recommendations of restaurants, exhibits and mostly lots of talks about Colombia and the Colombians. Throughout the day tea and coffee was provided "on the house".
An exquisite hotel in a wonderful city.
Thank you.

I stayed at Kolor Hotel for 10 days ā€“ EXCELLENT!!! The hotel is very beautiful and situated along El Poblado. Very accessible to restaurants so good food is available. Very safe neighborhood and the whole area is very nice. I stayed at Esmeralda ā€“ very happy indeed as being it is Suite, -- I am amazed how huge it was. I feel so relaxed after traveling a long haul flight.
The service is superb. The staff are very accommodating to address your needs even though sometimes language can get along the way. I donā€™t speak Spanish but itā€™s perfectly not an issue because Iā€™m in a Spanish speaking country. The staff go out of their way to really provide you what you need. There was a day that my room light was busted, the hotel owner went to fix it personally because it was a Sunday and no maintenance personnel was available. That I find is absolutely good service. Second, the breakfast is delicious, with variety, and the service kitchen really attends to your choices. The hotel does not serve lunch or dinner but it is not a problem, just a few blocks away ā€“ all the good restaurants are there with lots of variety ā€“ from Colombian (Paisa), Indian, Spanish, Asian etc. Plus good coffee is served at the hotel. I would say that when I arrived I had a terrible sore throat ā€“ every night the staff (her name is Natalia) serve me hot water with salt. I was really happy that I chose this hotel compared to other huge hotel names with mediocre service. Definitely recommend this one ā€“ and will definitely stay here again when Iā€™m in Medellin.

We selected the hotel in Medellin because it had very good comments, however in our stay of 2 nights we experiences the following:
1. When we arrived, they gave us a standard suite, but we purchased a superior suite.
2. The first day we had a very delicious breakfast, but the second day they had just scramble eggs without fruit or other options.
3. The bathtub plug didn't work properly. It was impossible to fill up the bathtub to the top.
4. At the time of checkout, they tried to charge us more money than the one we should pay. It was a mistake in the reservation.

Thank you for your comments we really appreciate them in order to improve our service and facilites. 1. Kolor Hotel Boutique only has two types of rooms, standard room and special room, the special room has bathtub or Jacuzzi and the standard room has only shower. In your comments you mention that you have a room with bathtub so we have given you a special room. 2. The breakfast at Kolor Hotel Boutique is ordered by the guest, and we serve what the guest tells us, if you wanted fruit or any other type of breakfast you should just order it. 3. If any of our guest has a technical difficulty in the room, there is always someone at the front desk willing to help you at any time. 4. We have talked to the staff to be more careful in the check-out in order to avoid those misunderstandings with the check. We apologize for the inconveniences you had during your visit to KOLOR BOUTIQUE HOTEL.

We generally stay in B&B's and do not care for the big hotels. Medellin currently only has a limited number of B&B's so we decided to try a small hotel as an alternative. We hit the jackpot. 1) The price is reasonable 2) The rooms are incredible. Each large room has its own decor, designed by one of the owners wife (she has good taste). The bed was comfortable, and there is plenty of hot water in the shower. 3) The breakfast was cooked to order, and we ate out on the patio each morning. 4) Overall, the service was good. When we were there, the night manager did not speak English, and the day staff was being trained to do their new job and were very accommodating. I suggested the owners develop a handout of recommended sights and restaurants since not all new staff were completely familiar was what Medellin has to offer. 5) The location of the hotel is on a quiet street (up a hill) in the El Poblado district and is where many tourists make their base for exploring the city. El Poblado is an upscale neighborhood and is safe day and night. There are numerous restaurants a 5 to 15 minute walk from the hotel. The closest metro station is a considerable distance away (20-30 minutes by foot) from the hotel. My wife and I walked it a few times, but finally got lazy and took an inexpensive cab. Try to avoid the rush hours for going anywhere using local transportation. The metro is jammed, and the main streets are clogged.
All in all this was a great place to stay, and we will look forward to staying there the next time we are in Medellin.
