Detailed Reviews
Great location for university, Mall and La Strada (eating places) but not for tourism
Shuttle bus – not made available and surcharge
20 mins from nearest metro – but lots of local buses going every few minutes to El Centro
Lovely large rooms (no views but not surprising due to location), great sized and very comfortable beds, large walk-in shower with complimentary toiletries.
WiFi worked very well, but the electronic keys needed for the lift and the room doors kept failing and had to be renewed by reception which was very frustrating.
There is a small gym and 2 x hot tub/Jacuzzi on the roof, you can refill your water bottles here too. You need to notify reception in advance for the hot tubs but they will freshly fill them (takes about 20 mins) and bring you additional towels
Very good breakfast, lots of hot and cold choice, plenty of fruits, cereals, breads and pastries and local and international hot food

One of the best parts of this hotel is its very convenient location if you want to stay in Poblado. It is close to multiple malls, shops, restaurants, grocery, 24 hour shops, etc. But since it is close to a busy street, it can get noisy. You either get a view of McDonald's 24 hour drive thru or of the casino. I would ask for a high floor, back of hotel room.
Staff is great, friendly, housekeeping is good, excellent wifi, good breakfast with prompt service in the garden restaurant that offers espressos and made to order eggs, lots of fruit. Staff is really pleasant, specially bell staff, and always friendly and easygoing like almost everyone in Medellin.
Rooms are on the older Classic look, not modern. Beds are comfortable, AC is good. Small elevator with secure key card access. Free parking. Bathroom was modern, definitely had a recent rehab, had waterfall shower heads with great pressure and always hot water, but no wash cloths, yes plenty of toiletries. Spacious room, a bit dark due to no overhead lamps. A very difficult TV remote. In room safe, iron.
If you call, you can negotiate a better rate. Definitely a good stay at a seasoned hotel, I personally would chose a brand new property next time that has more elevators and insulating windows, pool and a larger gym, but for the right price I would stay here. Hot tub was out of order, I think they can give you a pass to a local gym in the meantime.

I booked this hotel for 2 night before a tour, so this review is on my first room before the tour which was another category level.
I booked on booking.com, upon arrival I was upgraded to what looked like a Jr suite.
It was well appointed and in pretty good condition. Clean, nice bed linens and lots of room.
I had 2 complaints which keeps this from being 5 star experience. My room faced McDonald's and on top of their roof are two spot lights that shown directly in my room on the 5th fl. The curtain helped but I could still see filtered light through them. Second, the water has way too much chlorine in it. the moment you turn on the faucet you can smell it. It's like having Clorox come out of the spout. I brushed teeth and washed face only with bottled water. and I bought enough water to pour over my skin after my shower, just to try to remove some of it's drying affect.
Although practically no one spoke English, I found the staff to be friendly and helpful.
The hotel is located in a tourist area but it's also very close to many things. It has a walking score of about 8 in my opinion.
The restaurant has some decent food. Breakfast is included and they have an omelet station, so it's fresh. I also had a wonderful dish fried cheese and grilled tomatoes with fresh basil drizzled with honey. It was amazing!

Thank you for your detailed review of the Hotel Poblado Plaza. It seems that your experience was quite positive, despite the two complaints regarding the view from the room and the quality of the water., but the chlorine in the water does not depend on us, it is the company that provides the service to the entire city. It's nice to know that you found the staff friendly and helpful, as well as appreciating the food offered by the hotel's restaurant. We hope you were still able to enjoy your stay and that the subsequent tour was just as enjoyable. Thank you for your detailed review

Our room was clean and a decent size. The hotel is a bit tired and dated and geared to business/corporate customers.
Disappointing was the service from the staff in the breakfast room... disinterested and surly in general, with the odd exception. Almost had to beg for a coffee each morning! Staff elsewhere were pleasant and helpful.
Frustrating that on 3 occasions in a 5 day stay our room key card had to be re-set. It was happening to other guests too, so I assume it’s a regular thing.
The breakfast was ok, the worst of the 3 hotels we stayed at in Colombia, but acceptable.
Nice little gym on the top floor and the staff up there will happily fill the hot tub for you (so it’s nice and clean for very use).
Location is in a safe area, about 15 mins walk from lots of very busy bars and restaurants (there are also plenty of places to eat and drink a lot closer than that).
It’s a good 20 min walk to the closest metro station, but taxis are easy to come by and very cheap, although traffic is heavy.

It was simply an amazing experience and the food was good. However I won’t stay there again because of the attitude of the man at the front desk in the evening shift. Rude and didn’t care about his customers. Also I rented the room for two adults and everytime I came in with my date, I was charged an extra 85000. Pesos. He owed me change after paying cash and said the owed amount was going to be credited to my account and when I checked out during the morning, they did not give me any credit back to my balance.

Dear Guest, Thank you very much for taking the time to write your review on Tripadvisor. Indeed your reservation was for two people, but when you add additional people to your reservation, there is a charge for each one . Also, after checking your bill, we would like to clarify that there was no money owed to you given that you paid for all your extras. We do, however, apologize for the lack of service provided to you by the Night Manager. We wil share your feedback in order to improve our service. We stayed for 10 days and got the room rate with the breakfast buffet. The restaurant was understaffed at times around 8:30 am so we just started going to eat later after the rush, since we were on vacation and didn’t have anywhere we had to be at any particulate time. The housekeepers were excellent as were the front desk workers and the the other helpers. We Ubered everywhere and found the hotel to be close to the main drag and only minutes from the Park Lleres area. We used the fitness room which was never crowded. The bed was really comfortable. The room could have used a little touch up paint and the flooring was a bit worn but all in all it was an enjoyable experience. This was our third stay!

We spent there 4 nights. The guy who was sent to the airport to pick us up (for an extra charge) said that we could tip him if we wanted to but when we didn’t (as we’ve already paid a hefty sum) he was rude and left without a word.
The lobby and the dining area was nice. We loved the small garden right next to the tables, it was relaxing. The room was a bit outdated but there was enough space and there’s a chest of drawers as well as a small closet for clothes. The bedding was comfortable (even though the bed was super short. I’m not that tall (5’7”) but my heels were off of it) with two different pillows (one of them was memory foam). Lots of restaurants, supermarkets and two malls in the close proximity. Fast and reliable WiFi. Great breakfast with lots of choices—buffet open from 6AM.
A few not-so-good things: The shower didn’t have a door to keep the water inside so the water sprayed onto the bathroom floor. Lots of car/motorcycle traffic around—it’s ok but definitely not quiet. Also it’s a bit further away from the must-see attractions. The single serve coffee they left us in the room as a “gift” expired months ago.
Overall a good hotel and we were mostly satisfied.

I stayed at the Hotel Poblado Plaza recently on a group tour. The hotel is really nice. Modern and up to date, with very comfortable and spacious rooms and good sized bathrooms. The service is top notch and the location is ideal. It's on a busy street in the nicest part of town. It's surrounded by very nice office buildings, shopping, and restaurants. There is a super nice mall just next door. The restaurant is nice with plenty of open air outdoor covered seating and the staff is very welcoming and helpful. Definitely recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Medellin.

This property was used by our Tour Company and was nicely located near a park, pharmacy, several restaurants, a grocery store and a couple of shopping malls.
Even with the proximity of a major street, Carrera 43A, there was no noticeable noise from our room or from their outside dining area.
Breakfast and dinner were nicely proportional and an OK selection for Vegan / Vegetarians.
Overall, a nice property to spend a few days at.
