A boutique hotel converted from former house. Stayed in a room with a mezzanine floor for the bed. This was fine for us but the staircase to the bedroom might be challenging for some guests. Good breakfasts. Well run by Pablo. Most of the staff understood English.

Thank you for your comment and is a good point to explain our guests that the junior suites are in a split level form with a staircase to the bedroom, so if you have some difficulties to walk up stairs is better to choose a room on the first floor.

We were a couple visiting Cartagena and we stayed at Alfiz for 3 nights. Right from the time we checked-in till we checked-out and got on the taxi, the staff were wonderful, each one of them. When we arrived, we were given wet towels to refresh (it was HOT!) and were given a tour of the hotel property, which was...

A bit late reviewing but we stayed here with our adult children for a couple of nights. The room was big and spacious. We had a loft bedroom which was very comfortable although the ensuite bathroom was a little small. The second bedroom was a little less spacious perhaps better suited to younger children but still comfortable. The hotel is...

The room I stayed in (la Conquista) felt like staying in a castle. The room was clean, the air conditioner worked wonderfully, but ultimately was too loud. It is right by the breakfast and dining area, so we had a lot of noise in the morning and could often hear people in the dining area throughout the day. The breakfast...

The staff at this hotel were very helpful with all requests and booking tours. The hotel is located in the centre of the old town so it was very easy to get around and close to the bars and restaurants. Room was quirky but comfortable and fresh fruit and egg breakfast to start the day. If in Categena visit the...

We were supposed to stay at the Alfiz hotel for 5 nights as part of the Cartagena etape of our tour of Colombia. We had booked a "lover's package", which included a few extras, like airport pickup. Once at the property, we found a lovely 300 years old mansion located inside the fortified city in El Centro area. The building...

It's a pity to read your review about your short stay in our hotel. I agree with you that is not possible to have a good sleep with a closely party, actually the noise came from a hotel’s terrace on the next block and unfortunately the sound was heard even inside our courtyard. The staff at front desk called the...

Having been to Cartagena before, we were thrilled to read the outstanding reviews of this boutique hotel in the heart of the old town. The reality was even better. As other reviewers have noted, Pablo, the manager, is the most wonderful host and fluent in both Spanish and English. He (and the rest of the staff) couldn't do enough for...

Hidden behind a large wooden door, the hotel is a cool and calm retreat from the music and hawkers that fill the streets of the old town. The staff couldn't be more accommodating and the breakfasts are excellent, as is the free coffee in the study. The rooms are large, cool and airy and the location is ideal.

Alfiz was right in the center of Centro in the walled city – so the location can’t be beat. As soon as you walked out – you were already there, ready to explore the walled city streets of Centro (where we were) or Retiro on the NE side, or Getsemani on the south side – or walk the walls themselves...

My wife and I checked into the Alfiz after the air conditioning in our AirBnB broke. We could not have been happier. The service was exquisite - we especially appreciated the glass of sangria delivered to our room upon arrival. And the breakfast was top notch and delicious! The room itself, despite being located in the center of the city,...
