Detailed Reviews
We had a beautiful room and they let us check in early which was appreciated. The Hotel shares facilities with the Sofitel Santa Clara and we were able to enjoy all the services that they offer including the breakfast and the swimming pool. The breakfast is served round the fabulous cloister of the old convent in the centre of which is a lush tropical garden with towering palm trees and exotic bird calling to each other.
The pool is large and the sunbeds spaced to feel private . The staff are all well trained, smartly dressed and charming. Special mention must go to Cristian who was so helpful and ready to assist us. He arranged transport, booked restaurants and gave general advice on all things local. Nothing was too much trouble. This hotel is well placed to explore and within walking distance of Getsemani . We strolled home at night enjoying the magical city of Cartagena never wanting to leave.

The Hotel Boutique Bóvedas de Santa Clara in Cartagena exceeded our expectations and was the perfect place to celebrate our first anniversary of marriage. From the first moment, we were fascinated with its privileged location, which allowed us to enjoy the walled city just a few steps away. The facilities are beautiful, with unique details reflecting the charm and history of Cartagena.
However, what really made our stay special was the exceptional service of ALL the staff. Always attentive, friendly and willing to help us with any questions or requests, they made us feel very comfortable. We were especially surprised on our day (10/28) with a wonderful surprise that we will keep forever in our memory, which made the stay even more special. In addition, before our stay ended, we were presented with a book made by the hotel team on the history of the Castle of San Felipe de Barajas, which we loved!!
We are very happy with this experience and definitely highly recommend this hotel, mainly for its WONDERFUL STAFF!

We had a 2 night stay here and then added a 3rd night due to some flight changes. As someone who stays over 100 nights a year at hotels, I can say I was a bit disappointed with the service level at a boutique hotel that is part of a Sofitel. The first two nights we were given a great suite in the category we booked, wonderful room but not everything functioned as it should. The upstairs bath/shower water temperature dial did not work at all, it was either super hot or cold, no in between. That was not a big deal to me but just a maintenance issue that needed to be addressed. When we tired to re-check in for our third night is when things got a bit off. The front desk told us that they were not sure how we got a reservation since they were overbooked and made me feel like it was my fault for booking it online. We were told we had to move rooms and not given a lot of time to do so. Only when I pushed them on my ALL status did they agree to give us more time and a discount for moving rooms. The front desk seemed much more concerned about their Time Share people than the All Elite Guest. We moved to a much smaller room and then I found out that they had been charging us for coffee and water the entire time. Our first room had no QR code or note that they would charge, but I saw it in the second room. I questioned the Front Desk and they said that "no, it is not complementary". To be honest I was totally shocked. A Sofitel property that is charging guest for bottled water and coffee ... that seems a bit cheep for the brand. The bottled water I can understand when in a place where you are sure the water is safe to drink but I have never been charged for in-room coffee, even at the lowest end hotels I have stayed at. Good news is the front desk did not process the coffee charges when we checked out, but still the idea of being charged for coffee pods that are in your room is unacceptable for a high end hotel. Check-out worked well and I think it was done by one of the managers. I recommend the hotel for its locations but at almost $300 USD a night, it needs some improvement in staff attitude toward guest and amenities given in the rooms. A guest should never be made to feel like a reservation they made that the hotel has a hard time honoring his the guest fault. My recommendation for the Hotel Boutique Bovedas is to fully adopt the Sofitel level of service and not try to be something different.

I have really mixed feelings about this stay, which is a shame as it could be excellent. Only given in 3 stars because in this price bracket, it should have been better.
I was upgraded from to a suite, which is normally good. But with the bedroom upstairs on a mezzanine floor, I had no windows and natural light in the bedroom. Also, no use for the sitting room and or the 2nd bathroom. Bed was comfy and I love Occitane toiletries.
The big killer was that the room was badly sound-proofed. I could hear everything in the next room. One night their snoring was so bad it woke me up. Creepy, it felt like someone was in the sitting room downstairs. Next night, new neighbours next door, but at 1am I got the front desk up to hear the TV noise. They agreed it was unacceptable and offered a new room, but it was late. Beware room 408. Hard to believe that I'm the first person to complain.
On the plus side, you can use the facilities at the Sofitel which is one block away, incl their lovely pool and any drinks etc can be charged to your room. Best pool in the old town. Breakfast is good, small buffet with eggs cooked to order.
Staff are friendly and helpful, and as it's a small hotel they get to know you quickly.

As a silver member of All Accord hotels I expected a better room and service.
The BAD: 1. previously scheduled transportation for airport pick up never showed up and had to take a taxi.
2. The room they gave me was depressing . Looked old and needs an upgrade. Since I had multiple reservations throughout this trip I requested and upgrade and was denied.
3. The hotel in general seems like it needs an upgrade.
4. For the money you pay you may be able to find something better in the old city.
The GOOD:
1. Breakfast at the Santa Clara
2. Able to use amenities at the Santa Clara

At this moment I am staying at the hotel, everything is magnificent, our room is very large with a sea view, the only thing that should be improved is the sofa bed since it is not very comfortable, but the rest is impeccable, the attention of the staff is always attentive and ready to help the Breakfast is served at Sofitel and it is truly magnificent as is the pool and all the facilities. First class, all impeccable details. I would definitely return and as a travel agent I will recommend it to my passengers who want to visit Cartagena.

What a lovely hotel. We arrived and were upgraded thanks to my Gold ALL status, and the room was ginormous and chic with a huge soft king size bed. We had a corner balcony over looking the ocean (and the Independence Day parade which was on during our stay-front row seats!)
A big shout out to Juan David, Adris and the rest of the staff for making our stay wonderful and providing us with a beautiful honeymoon surprise (we came back from dinner to a room full of rose petals, chocolate covered strawberries and candles!!!)
The Sofitel breakfast/dinner is top notch as is the pool. The staff there, such as Maria and Jair, are so lovely and attentive-remembering our names, stopping to make conversation and to help with our every desire.
I would not hesitate to book the Bovedas again-in fact we are already planning future anniversaries there. I’m sure the Sofitel rooms are lovely but we were so happy with our room which was a fraction of the price. In response to previous reviews-I did not find it tired or dated at all. In fact it was a wonderfully modern yet coastal hotel.

This hotel is centrally located and on a quiet waterfront street. I booked this hotel because it had a two bed/two bath option. This was in a loft format in one large room. This created a bit of privacy issues but worked well for our group. Juan David was working reception and was friendly, accomodating, and very welcoming. He was grateful to practice his english with us. The use of the Sofitel ammenities are a major highlight. Their breakfast is incredible and the pool was great after a hot day. My one complaint was we had a leak in the roof which created quite a mess but they moved us promptly and offered a gift for our trouble. I would recommend if you can afford simply staying in the Sofitel alone but this is a nice option as well.

Excellent hotel. Beautiful rooms, perfect location and cleanliness. Super comfortable beds. A very quiet hotel, really suitable for rest. The kindness and professionalism of the staff is very notable, who are always attentive and willing to provide a solution or answer. It was an incredible stay to be able to fully enjoy Cartagena. In addition to the hotel, the services of the Sofitel Santa Clara located a few meters away are added, which crowns an excellent stay.

If you’re looking to just spend the day, you can book it thru your hotel. The boats leave from the dock around 8:30-9am, returning around 3pm. If you’d like to spend the night there, check out San Pedro de Mahagua. It’s beautiful.

Dear Joh.
Thank you for you question! Zuana is in Santa Martha city and Bovedas de Santa Clara is in Cartagena de Indias. Assuming you will be in Zuana you can dive in Taganga.
