We had a great time! We chose Premium All Inclusive with an Executive room and it was worth every penny of the couple hundred extra we paid. First, room on the Executive Floor (10) is perfectly placed with a great view , high enough to not hear the street noise but far enough from pool and bar on the 18th floor to not hear that. You have access to a lounge with a nice breakfast which has good choice and is less noisy and busy than the buffet breakfast. There is coffee, fruit and water there throughout the day. The rooms have a free maxibar. But the best part is the concierges who are almost like butlers, there, anticipating every need. They are fabulous. Next! The Premium upgrade allows you to eat lunch and dinner as many times as you like at restaurant Lucia. We hardly went to the buffet as the food here was sooo great. It is a slower pace and the food at the buffet was good, just very busy. Benjamin and his crew of amazing waiters always took good care of us… sometimes a bit slow but the decor and atmosphere was great! Sunsets on the balcony every evening. Location is a good 20 min walk to historic centre but taxis are cheap and we enjoy the walk. The beach out front is close and convenient, but we often strolled to Castillogrande beach which had fewer vendors and bluer water.

I had an amazing experience at the Cartagena Plaza Hotel. Every single staff member I encountered, from the valet to the check- in to the cleaning staff were delightful and always eager to help!

When you arrive at the hotel you are greeted by the staff and from the very first step you take into their lobby you feel like you’re home. Ángel Miranda was so very attentive from the moment we arrived until the very last minute. Every time we went out and it was raining he would run out with an umbrella for us to use, anything you need you can count on him and all the other alike…I wish I had everyone’s names but they all need to be mentioned :)

The room I stayed in was called the woman room. It was very spacious, equipped with a hair dryer (other hotels I looked into did not have this and it is a MUST :D), coffee machine, safe box and 2 very relaxing hammock like chairs…good for you to enjoy a good book. It was very clean and the bed was very comfortable, the cleaning staff were amazing…..very friendly and always eager to keep your room clean. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable.

I went for 2 weeks with a friend (which has also been extremely impressed with the hotel and staff). Having booked a double full size bed room while she was there I had to book a single room for when she left, Joel Ruiz, the front desk supervisor, was extremely accommodating allowing me to stay in the same room I was in if I wished to do so, which I did because I just loved the room so much!

They have the option of all inclusive, which means buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner, also snacks, desserts and open bar in between, they have a pretty big pool on the top floor and kids activities. Also nightly shows for the family to enjoy. At the Buffett you are always greeted with a smile, Elkin Madrid is one of the guys that make natural juices for everyone. He was always very attentive, always tried to make small talk with me as he knew I was there alone, so it was so very much appreciated. He makes delicious juices by the way ;)

For the hotel to be running as smoothly as it does and their employees to be so professional and friendly and welcoming you need a good leader behind them and this is where Jeisson Durango, their ccustomer service manager, comes in. Always very present making sure everything ran smoothly, very professional but so friendly at the same time. Any advice on places to go or things to do he was always willing to help. When leaving the hotel he was there with me throughout the whole process. When I arrived at the airport I realized I had left some things behind, I was able to communicate with him and he did everything possible to get them to me at the airport . At the end I decided to leave it but I appreciated it soooooo much that he was willing to go the extra mile to get it to me. Service like this will never be forgotten :)

All in all I had an extremely great experience, so much so that I will be returning next year with my whole family and hoping to see all the great staff I had the pleasure to meet. Thank you for the wonderful experience!

This hotel offers a good value proposition if you are looking for an “all-inclusive” located in front of the nice beach of Bocagrande. The hotel is well maintained, has rooms larger than normal, and a very friendly staff. If you choose to pay for a room with an ocean view, the view is impressive.
However, the management has made a serious mistake, in my opinion, with one policy of control. The hotel is 18 stories high, has more than 330 rooms, and 8 public elevators. If you want to have a drink during the day (like most hotels all-inclusive) or wish to have a towel for the beach or change a towel, the only place that I found available is at the pool and bar on the 18th floor level. So, if you wish to take a refreshment to the beach you must ascend to the 18th floor, make your order, descend to the first floor, and walk across the road to the beach. That can take a lot of time, even if it is not a busy part of the day. During the busy parts of the day you can lose a half hour of your vacation time making this trek.
The hotel should consider adding these services to their second floor, where the buffet restaurant is located, to make the vacation experience more pleasant for their visitors.
I wish to commend Geison (who works in the hotel lobby and loves to speak with visitors in English) and Maholis Montalvan (who works in the buffet restaurant).
All in all, a pleasant stay, but not what one totally desires for a once a year vacation.

My partner had booked a surprise trip for me, what a very pleasant surprise, on entering the hotel 5 hours before check-in we were greeted by Jason, well what can i say about him throughout the stay he gave both my wife and i his full attention and i could see by the end of the week his English had improved immensely. We were told it was too early to check in but leave your bags and go up to floor 18 where the pool and bar is. After a couple of hours our room was ready.
the room was on 17 floor with a view of the ocean what an amazing view every morning and the room itself was very spacious and clean, the only downside was there was a problem with the hot water system and that is why i gave it a rating of 4.
The choice of breakfast was more than average especially the omelettes, and all the restaurant staff were very attentive to us both.
The beach was great and clean and we found a great little bar on the beach, if you go out of the hotel turn left walk about 100m cross the road the bar is on the left, what great service we had, the only downside was the lucky lucky men bombarding us but eventually we had that sorted with the bar manager who brushed them away when he saw them coming.
Oscar one of the front men at the hotel was delightful to us throughout our stay and even extended our room time on leaving the hotel which was a great help.
All in all we had a very relaxing time and shall be returning in the new year.
Thank you so much for such an enjoyable time.

The all inclusive package included access to level 5, “Lucia restaurante,” we found that this restaurant was peaceful and had an amazing view, it had an outdoor area, with some shaded areas, and an indoor dining area. A special mention to Benjamin, as he was a fantastic waiter and accomodated to our needs! The food was good. We dined at the restaurant several times and all of the waiters were polite and respectful.
The all inclusive package also provided a “business lounge,” only available for premium clients, which was a quiet small room to have breakfast, if you did not want to attend the buffet.
We also dined at Kazabe restaurant, the service was slow, though the food was good.
Please note that the “all inclusive package,” does not necessarily mean this! As you are not allowed to have the premium spirits, as you have to pay for this seperately, though “house spirits,” wine and beer were included. Also as a premium service the mini bar and some spirits were included and provided in the room accomodation. We stayed in the “Tech room,” which basically has a google mini to activate the tv, lights and play music, unfortunately the automatic blinds were broken. Not all jet’s in shower worked, though still had good water pressure. The bed was big and comfortable and the room clean, neat and tidy.
The pool area lacked comfortable seating and needed more shaded areas. As it’s family oriented be prepared for lots of children.
The hotel would benefit with an addition, and dedicated space for adults, including as adult pool. Though the area on level 5 was perfect to relax. our “butlers,” (César, Andrés, Luís, Fabián y Alfredo) were also extremely helpful in answering any questions and attending to our needs.
Thank you Hotel Cartagena Plaza

We had many problems with the air conditioning in room 1645, it never cooled down, we notified it several times and it was never solved, they have a terrible air system throughout the hotel, not to mention on the 18th floor. It is the second time we visited them and we think that these things are They would solve it, in February 2023 the same thing happened in the room, the air does not cool. We paid for a 4-star hotel so that the person who monitored the air maintenance told us that they could solve it with a fan aaaaa!!!

On a previous occasion, we made a comment about the food that was not very varied, I think that on this occasion we are satisfied with the meals.

I want to make a special mention of three people from the restaurant. Camilo, Eduardo and Marcos make your stay unforgettable, what service, what attention, the smile on their face, reflects love for their work and they do it very well. Please replicate what these three people do to your new employees, since they lack a lot of empathy, it is a matter of asking them for a glass of water and just by their face and disposition you can see that they have a lot to learn in terms of service. Don't let your good things be overshadowed by your employees who have no sense of ownership for their work.

The first day we arrived at the room there was a dirty towel, a person at the reception was notified informing them that they would not show up again, this must be reviewed, no matter how busy they are, they must guarantee optimal service and more on the issue of cleanliness. Based on this second experience, I think we will review and evaluate if it is really a cost-benefit to visit them on our next stay in Cartagena.

Twice with the same issues, we don't know if they can improve a third time. Thank you, have a happy day.

I would give the hotel 3 1/2 stars- the staff are very attentive, great water pressure in the shower and convenient location. However, the family rooms are in need of renovation, my brother and his gf had a music room and there was a huge difference . I wish they would offer this type of room for a couple with a kid. I wouldn’t mind paying the extra fee for a better room - I also wish the hotel did something about those vendors, they harass you the minute you set foot outside . I didn’t see this at other hotel hotels in the area

I love the Cartagena Plaza for several reasons:
The staff as number one! Everybody greets you and truly cares about helping you and making sure you have what you need.
Number two: the food! OMG! The daily buffets are of excellent quality and have REAL fruit juices. The menu is varied and complete to satisfy everybody. If you still complain about the food at Plaza, you are IMPOSSIBLE to please (stay home!)
When you go to the beach, there’s a guard that stops the traffic for you while you cross the street.
I spent a full week there and by the end of my stay I got to know several staff members (Oscar goes above and beyond to fulfill your needs and even helps you print your Check Mig and Antigen test documents to fly back to the US.
When you go to the restaurant, especially in the mornings, Nelson guides you a good table, Jerson helps you with the freshest Colombian coffee. If you still want some juice or, if you are not a coffee person, ask Elkin to make you a fresh mango, passion fruit or pineapple juice. Those guys totally rock!
Ask for rooms on higher floors for the nicest ocean view or try to get an upgrade. Some hallways are noisy due to some loud guests, but the hotel doesn’t have control of that.
There are daily FREE activities on the 5th floor and drinks are included in your full meals plan.
I recommend it very highly and feel free to contact me if you have questions.
I will be back to the Plaza very soon !

I love the idea that there is show bar in the hotel where all family members can go and have fun, regardless of age at lest until early night hours for the kids.
Food at the restaurant hotel is excellent, the daily buffet has so many options that you will be spoilt and international guests could try a lot of Colombian dishes.
The beaches in Cartagena are not the best, but the location of the hotel is good.
The Hotel is located across the street from Bocagrande Beach, 2 minutes walk to the beach, this relaxed hotel is 3 km from Plaza de Santo Domingo and 8 km from Rafael Núñez International Airport. The area is very safe and there are numerous restaurants and stores all over in a walking distance.
If you want to explore the city there are many tours, I highly recommend to use the hotel when booking the tours and don't be disappointed later. and if you go to Cartagena go to las murallas for a walk and explore the magical environment of the city and don't forget to do the tour to the Totumo Volcano it is a must experience when in the area, and one more tip if you go always read review first and remember nothing comes for free, there is always a catch, be alert and enjoy!

Good service from the doormen and reception, pleasant facilities to consume food, good cleanliness of the room, variety of foods and very good flavors, excellent attention received from the waiter Daniel Murillo, very attentive and cordial to the needs of the guests. users.

As a suggestion, improve the air conditioning in the rooms, they cool very little and this detracts from the quality of the stay, more variety in the snacks and improve the quality of their preparation.
Thank you so much!
